Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Thirty Eighth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 338 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was Skye wiv I Shot Da Sherriff from Bob Marley . Let's see wot we gots this week:

@maggietkat
Well done Skye with I shot the sheriff. I got thinking about other Jamaican music. I remembered the ska band Maytal and their great tunes which have been covered by bands. So, I choose the Clash with Lee Perry doing Pressure Drop.

@claptonterrier
last week Miss Skye was our winner with I Shot the Sheriff….a song in which the law comes out on the wrong side of the argument…so this week we thought we would redress the balance and our linky this week is I Fought The Law by The Clash….

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Skye did win wiv Bob Marley and I Shot the Sheriff. We were thinking of other famous Bobs and came up with Bob the Builder. His famous song was Can We Fix It and then we thought of another Fix It song by Coldplay so here it is.

@terenceterrier
Sooo da linky to follow on from be "I Shot The Sheriff " by Bob Marley. Righty Ho I fink dat when dis man go home he would tell his Mum n say "Mama I shot a man, put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger now he's dead" Yoo can see wot's coming as my linky can't yoo !  Yup ! "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen n I give yoo da live vershun from Wembley Stadium 12 July 1986.

@sonikebt
Well done @syke613 for winning with "I shot the Sheriff" by Bob Marley. Eric Clapton covered the song in 1974 which was the only No 1 single of his career. I was surprised that Mr Clapton didn't have more No 1 hits, so we have chosen one of his songs that probably should have hit the top of the charts. "Layla" by Derek and the Dominos.

@djladylexie

Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Thirty Seventh Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 337 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was Maggie wiv Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett an Bang Bang. Let's see wot we gots this week:

@sonikebt
Well done @MaggieTKat for winning with "Bang Bang" by Lady Gaga/Tony Bennett. This did remind us of a classic, and Eurovision winner, from Glasgow's finest ... Lulu "Boom bang a bang".

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Maggie won wiv Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga. Tony Bennett also did a duet with the late very great Amy Winehouse so here she is with one of her best songs.

@terenceterrier
Larst week pal Maggie with da linky "Bang Bang" by Lady Gaga n Tony Bennett. Da original vershun woz recorded Nancy Sinatra. She also singed a duet wiv her dad "Something Stupid" wot made No 1 on da Billboard Hot 100. Da same songy duet woz also No 1 in da UK singles chart when singed by Robbie Williams n Nicole Kidman. Dis be my linky *paws crossed his twinkly eyes n cheeky grin  swing it*.

@skye613
Yeah! Maggie did win with a great tune " Bang Bang". Sticking with the shots! Thought we would do a cover for a cover. And this version is great!

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…last week our winner was a duet by Lady Gaga and Mr Tony Bennett….so this started us thinking about famous duets….so we went to the Google machine and looked at famous duets …..interestingly most of them seem to be pop songs or soul songs..and old fashioned rock n roll does not get much of a look in…so this week our linky is going to be a famous guitar-based duet…..Stop Dragging My Heart Around by Toby Petty and Steve Nicks…

@djladylexie
Hmmm let me fink ... okay ... Lady Gaga is well known for her provocative and strange costumes. Probably the most strangest was a dress of raw beef! Beef comes from cows as we all know. Cowboys are men wot err well round up cows. They loves a country and western song dus them cowboys so what better song than Rawhide, performed here by the amazin Blues Brothers!

An da winner as chosen by ............... Maggie ...................... dus be Skye .............................. Yay! You choosin next week me pal.

Ere wot Maggie said:  My choice is I Shot the Sheriff by Bob Marley and the Wailers. You guys all chose songs that are in my genres! You know me so well. We haven't had any reggae in a while so I picked one of my faves.

Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Thirty Sixth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 336 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was Clapton wiv Gunpower and Lead from a country singing lady wot I can't remember. Lets see wot we gots dis week:

@maggietkat
Well done Sir with Gunpowder and Lead. I looked for songs of abruptly ended relationships where the listener has to make assumptions regarding why. I remembered the old nugget penned by Sonny Bono, Bang Bang, where the singer gets the lead (rather than shooting the lover). I chose a Lady Gaga version, an interesting combo of Cher hair, jazz and Argentine tango.

@claptonterrier
Larst week little woolly pal Sir Clapton won da chainy  wiv Miranda Lambert n "Gunpowder and Lead". She sings abowt using a shot gun. When she pulls da trigger it will go bang ! bang ! So my linky dis week be by DJ Fresh vs Diplo and "Bang Bang" . ( dis official video vershun on Viveo swung it for me!).

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Clapton won with great country song Gunpowder and Lead. We no like Gunpowder but we does like face powder so we gives you this from that great Welsh singer no not Tom Jones not Shirley Bassey or Bonnie Tyler. No it's Mr Shaking Stevens!

@djladylexie

Just shows you .. some people give love a bad name..... that sounds like a perfect title for a song! Bon Jovi ... You Give Love A Bad Name. In true Tucker style I gives you the live version.

An da winner as chosen by ............... Clapton ...................... dus be Maggie .............................. Yay! You choosin next week me pal.

Ere wot Claptonia said:  A small field to choose from this week…but we think everyone has done very well with good strong links and it has been quite hard to make a choice…but after sum head scratching we have decided on Link No. 1…Lady Gaga….

So now is over to you. Email me: lex[dot]dogstovesky @ gmail.com or DM me on Monday 17th July 2017 (gets it to me by 10am UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Thirty Fifth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 335 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was Megan wiv Material Girl from Madge. Lets see wot we gots dis week:

@diamondbertie
Megan was clever with her choice Material Girl by Madonna, so my choice is connected to wealth and materialism. I choose Money Makes The world Go Around by Liza Minnelli and Joel Grey from that brilliant film Cabaret.

@maggietkat
Well done with Madonna's Material Girl!  Mum was in graduate school in 1985 and that song would blare from the fraternity houses becoming an ear worm. I chose another hit from 1985 which is also about material things. "Puttin' on the Ritz" was written by Irving Berlin and was the title song on the movie by that name. This movie was the first one to feature a mixed race chorus. I digress. Here is Taco's version.  The first link can be considered offensive since it features black face chorus but it has a great tap scene. The second link is Taco's PC version we saw on MTV.

Uncensored

PC version

I can't help myself. Young Frankenstein.

@skye613
So Madonna did sing about all the material things. What, you ask can be the polar opposite of these material things? Why my linky this week of course! Enjoy " Nature's Way ".  Getting back to basics.

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…last week our winner was the song Material Girl…..that made us think about the question: what materials are girls made of? Well, the best answer we have found is from Miranda Lambert…who says that little girl are made of Gunpowder & Lead….

@terenceterrier
Megan winned wiv da linky "Material Girl" by Madonna. When Madge sez she be a material girl I dussnt fink it rilly mean she be made of cloth like Looby Looe or indeed dat she be secretly hankering after little wooly pal Clapton when she sez she wants a material man. It rilly mean she wants lotsa possesshuns ( can't take dem wiv yoo when yoo pops yor clogs Madge ! ) . Anyhows to get these fings yoo needs lotsa munney. So for my linky I chooses "Money" by The Beatles.

@djladylexie
You can av all the money in the world to buy fings but does it make you happy? I dunno! Let's ask Topol. He seems to knowwhat he'd do. He says biddy biddy diddle diddle dum or summat!

An da winner as chosen by ............... Megan ...................... dus be Clapton .............................. Yay! You choosin next week me pal.

Ere wot Megan said: Very good linkys all round this week. We does love the musicals but we also does love hearing a new song and a bit of country and we likes the sentiments expressed in this one so our choice does be Linky 4 Gunpowder and Lead Yeehah!
