Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Seventy Third Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 373 of Lexie's Chain. Last week da winner was Oscar wiph Layla an Eric Clapton. Let's see what we got dis week:

@maggietkat
Well done Oscar with the acoustic version of Clapton's Layla. I thought about unplugged versions and loving something dearly.  My hometown is the best place ever! Here is a song about a hometown, John Mellencamp with “SmallTown”.

@claptonterrier
last week our winner was Layla by Eric Clapton…of course, the song was famously first recorded by Mr Clapton as part of his anonymous years as part of Derek & The Dominoes…and so this week our linky is another song by a band of famous musicians hiding their lights under a bushel….we have End of The Line by the Travelling WIlburys…or George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty as they are better known.

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Oscar did win wiv Eric Clapton and Layla. Now many years ago mum was on holiday in Antigua and guess who she saw in a bar. Oh yes Mr Slow Hand himself! This song was playing a lot when she was there and always reminds her of her Caribbean holiday.

@skye613
So the winning tune talks of unrequited love starting with a 12th-century poem and ending with Pattie Boyd. We continue with this sad theme and its bluesy sound. Linky this week " I Can't Make You Love Me " Enjoy Pals!

@terenceterrier
Well done Oscar on winning wiv da linky "Layla" by Eric Clapton. He  woz ranked second in da Rolling Stone magazine list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of all Time". Numba 1 on dat list woz Jimi Hendrix. So I gonna use "Hey Joe" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience as my linky.

@djladylexie
Well done me pal! Love EC! Layla was first performed by Derek and the Dominos. Maybe they loved a game of dominos because dominos are black wooden blocks that have little white spots on them from 0-6. These are called pips. Gladys Knight probably enjoyed a game of dominos too after a good old sing song wiv her backing singers- The Pips.

An da winner ............ as chosened by Oscar ..................... dus be .............................. me dat be Lexie! So me dad dus be choosin next week.

Ere wot Oscar said: Well pals, twas a close run thing this week wiv some pretty good entries . . . but I dus choose Linky 6 coz what a fab, lateral thinkin linky . . . an the vid had werds wot we could sing along wiv . . . an finally, hoomum is always telling me iz the best fing wot happened to her! ðŸ˜‡

Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Seventy Second Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 372 of Lexie's Chain. Last week da winner was Oscar wiph ELO and Mr Blue Sky. Let's see what we got this week:

@diamondbertie
Clever Terence won with Here Comes The Sun 🌞. My choice came straight into my head. Sunrise Sunset from Fidler on the Roof sung by Chaim Topol and Norma Crane.

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…..I wish to lodge a protest….last week Sir Terence chose “here Comes the Sun” and I can’t help but feel that he has rather jinxed the weather….so in the hope of using that jinx to our advantage I am choosing a Simon & Garfunkel song this week…..”Hazy shade of winter”…

@skye63
Seems that Terence is on a roll! Great! " Here Comes The Sun" is often said after the " Storm". Enjoy! Here's to sunny days & warm storms.

@maggietkat
Well done Sir T with “Here Comes the Sun”. Taking off on the sun theme, I thought about Donovan's “Sunshine Superman”. Donovan’s manager didn’t want him to play it in front of Paul McCarthy because McCarthy might nick it. Sunshine superman was released at least a year after Sgt Pepper, so it didn’t really matter that Donovan did play.

@limeoscar
Well done again Sir T with George Harrison’s Here comes the Sun.  This was written at his mate’s house, Hurtwood Edge, when George was playing hooky as he should have been at a meeting with Apple along with the rest of The Beatles!  So they would probably be an obvious linky, but we would like to go with another song penned at Hurtwood Edge by the guitar master & owner of the house, Clapton himself (a familiar name, perhaps?). The song was inspired in part by his then unrequited love for Pattie Boyd who was the wife of George Harrison at the time!  We gives you . . . Layla, in this unplugged version which is really true to its bluesy roots.

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Sir Tel did win wiv George Harrison and Here Comes the Sun. George was married to Patti Boyd who was also the subject of adoration by Eric Clapton who composed Layla for her. We love this version.

@sonikebt
Well done @TerenceTerrier for a great link “Here Comes the Sun” by George Harrison. George was in The Beatles so this week we decided to look at other bands that share their name with insects. So our link this week “Stayin Alive” by the Bee Gees.

@djladylexie
Well done Terence with Here Comes The Sun from George Harrison. Me linky does be the word (or chant) Om. George Harrison was heavily influenced by the music, culture and spiriturality of India. A very famouns Indian, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi,  was guru to the Beatles, especially George Harrison. A Yogi is a practitioner of yoga. Yoga is a practice of mind and body working together in harmony to achieve a higher state of mind. To achieve this, practitioners of yoga often hum or chant Om, a sacred symbol of Hindusim. Om Shanti Om is also a chant that can be repeated meaning the invocation of peace over mind and body. What better way to celebrate that than a good old Bollywood number - Om Shanti Om.

An da winner ............ as chosened by Terence ..................... dus be .............................. Oscar! Yay well done me pal! You choosin next week.

Ere wot Tel said: Fank yoo pals for da linkies. A couple of our favrits n dis selekshun n 2 of da same songy tho a bit diffrent settings. *reminds self of judging rools- gotta have a well werded n connected linky n a gud track* . On balance I goes wiv linky 5 as my winner wot be the unplugged vershun of Eric Clapton performing "Layla".

So now is over to you. Email me: lex[dot]dogstovesky @ gmail.com or DM me by 26th March 2018 (ges it to me by 10am UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!

Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Seventy First Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 371 of Lexie's Chain. Last week da winner was Oscar wiph ELO and Mr Blue Sky. Let's see what we got this week:

@claptonterrier
Hello Lady Lexie…last week our winner was Mr Blue Sky….we need a good idea for our linky this week…..and i believe that blue sky thinking is also a way of saying look for a great idea….so this week our linky has to be “Me and My Big Idea” by Tears for Fears.

@diamondbertie
Clever Oscar won last week with the Electric Light Orchestra such great choice my choice is in keeping the the theme of the sky with the Beatles and their song Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds from the album Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club. This song caused quite a furores because it was believed to promote recreational drugs namely LSD.

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Oscar wins for the first time (yay) with ELO and Mr Blue Sky. Jeff Lynne was key member of ELO but also other bands like the Travelling Wilburys and back in the day The Move. So we pick a great Move song which was the first song to be played on Radio 1. We gives you Flowers in the Rain!

@maggietkat
Well done Sir T with “Mr Blue Sky”. The lyrics describe longing that the blue sky will come through. My link is about longing to be home and the journey there. I also chose a song with Blue, written by Roy Orbison which became  Linda Ronstadt's signature song, “Blue Bayou”.

@skye613
Great tune, Oscar! So we are staying with Blue Skys for our linky this week. The super U2 and " Bullet In The Blue Sky" Rock On Pals!

@terenceterrier
Well done Oscar on  joining da elite wiv a winning linky wot be "Mr Blue Sky" by da ELO. Dis songy woz writ by Jeff Lynne. He had been in a Swiss chalet n weather been grey n miserable. When da sun suddenly appeared it got da inspawrayshun for dat song. I similarly get my inspawrayshun for my linky from dis. I give yoo "Here Comes The Sun" by George Harrison.

@djladylexie
Well done me pal for da winnin of da chainy! Well let me finks .. ELO ... electric light orchestra wiv Mr Blue Sky. Mum met Bev Bevan an Jeff Lynne dontcha know. Anyhoo, the uvva member of ELO was Mr Roy Wood who was even more well know for his own band Wizzard! Let's go Glam Rock, get your platforms on and rock wiv me to Wizzard an prolly their most famous song EVA ... I Wish It Could Be Kissmuss Efurry Day.

An da winner ............ as chosened by Oscar ..................... dus be .............................. Terence! Yay well done me pal! You choosin next week.

Ere wot Oscar said: So to consider the linky this week . . . wot a luffly lot to choose from we ad to sleeps on them to be sure, but I finks we go with Linky 6 coz we like the trivia in the linky and who doesn’t luff the sun for a bit of sun puddlin?!

So now is over to you. Email me: lex[dot]dogstovesky @ gmail.com or DM me by 19th March 2018 (ges it to me by 10am UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!

Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Seventieth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 370 of Lexie's Chain. Last week da winner was Terence wiph Always Look On The Bright Side of Life from da Monty Fypons. Let's see what we got this week:

@maggietkat
Well done Sir T with Eric idle's “Bright side of Life”. I got thinking about musicians whose songs have become covers. I think musicians would have to look on the bright side and be flattered? Here is a cover by Cheap Trick, gettin better all the time. I also if yo look on bright side, things have to get better.

@limeoscar
Well done Sir Terence who last week gave us the Python’s Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, which we sung loud for Brian win leaky eyes!  It was also included in the London 2012 closing ceremony 'A Symphony of British Music’.  Immediately preceding it was ELO’s Mr Blue Sky and blue sky does always make us look on the bright side, so this dus be our linky this week.

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Terence won with Monty Python Life of Brian Always Look at the Bright Side of Life
We wanted to continue with a cheery bright side theme so we pick The Bright Side of the Road by the sometimes not so cheery Van Morrison.

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…lats week Sir terence selected “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” as our winner. I am not entirely clear where he is getting his sense of optimism in these dark times so I am staging a mini-protest and selecting as my link this week “Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now”….

@djladylexie
Well done Sir Terence of Tel. First of all so sorry to hear about Brian and RIP to im. Now, let me fink. So Bright Side of Life very good song dat and as you noes it was singed at da funeral of Graham Chapman of da Monty Pifons. Dat song was written by Eric Idle. Annuva Monty Pifon famous for his songs was Terry Gilliam. Terry Gilliam is a great movie producer and one of me favourits dus be Brazil, wot has the great theme toon err ...... Brazil! So me gives you Brazil from the movie .... Brazil!

@sonikebt
@TerenceTerrier did win with “Always look on the bright side of life” from Monty Python. This week we are looking on the bright side of life with “Mr Brightside”, the Killers.

@diamondbertie
Clever Terence won with Monty Python Look on the Bright Side I did chuckle at the affronted faces this film caused, my link has to be Spike Jones and hid City Slickers with Chloe which takes nothing seriously.

An da winner ............ as chosened by Terence ..................... dus be .............................. Oscar! Yay well done me pal for your first win! You choosin next week.

Ere wot Tel said:  I haz listened to n wotched da linkies at least twice n evaluated da werds for best linky . After much deliberayshun I chooses linky 2 wot be da ELO n "Mr Blue Sky".

Lexie's Chain : The Three Hundred and Sixty Ninth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 369 of Lexie's Chain. Last week da winner was Megan wiph The Rutles and It Must Be Love. Let's see what we got this week:

@limeoscar

So last week’s winner was The Rutles, I Must Be In Love from Dame Megan.  Originally created as parody of The Beatles by Eric Idle & Neil Innes for a tv sketch, The Rutles went on to have hits as an actual group, with Neil providing vocals, piano and guitar.  Prior to this Neil was also a pivotal member, as a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, of the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band. So this week we give you our linky which does probably be their best known work: I’m the Urban Spaceman.

@maggietkat
Well done Megan with the Rutles I must be in love.  There is nothing better than the unconditional love of a dog. I chose a tv band who turned into the real thing, picking up on the spoof. Here are the Monkees with I'm gonna buy me a dog.

@terenceterrier
Larst week Lady Megan win wiv " I must be in love" by The Rutles. Eric Idle woz in that group. He be best known for being in Monty Python's Flying Circus. They made a film called "The Life Of Brian". In dat film he sing da song "Always Look On The Bright Side of Life" . Dat song is often chosen to be played at funerals. Mum's younger brother Brian died in January and da funeral is in March. So for my linky I choosing the singalong vershun ( I fink from da video it woz recorded at da Royal Albert Hall / The Proms ) so yoo can all singalong for Brian.

0

@djladylexie
Hehe love dat linky Lady Megan. Well, The Rutles was a parody of The Beatles as we dus know. They produced a mockumentary called All You Need Is Cash. There has been a number of mockumentaries over da years, one of me favourites dus be This is Spinal Tap.  One of their songs dus be Big Bottom. Probably one of the greatest rock bands ever also dun a song about bottoms so here be me linky - bottoms! I gives you Fat Bottomed Girls by Queen.

An da winner ............ as chosened by Megan ..................... dus be ..............................Terence. ! Yay well done me pal! You choosin next week.

Ere wot Megan said:  These be most interesting linkys and we do have learned some new fings. We does have to choose Linky No 3 which be one of our favourite songs and we sing it loud for Brian.
