Lexie's Chain - The Two Hundred and Thirtieth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 230 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was me (again pfftttt) wiv Chain Reaction from Diana Ross. Let's see what we got dis week:

@sonikebt
Last week Lexie set off a Chain Reaction with Diana Ross. This week we're joining the Jesus and Mary Chain, "Head on".

@diamondbertie
Well done with winning last week choosing Diana Ross and Chain Reaction, I choose for my link Sam Cooke singing Chain Gang.  We have three chains here :

1. Lexie's Chain
2. Chain Reaction (Diana Ross)
3. Chain Gang (Sam Cooke)

@maggietkat
Well done Lexie with Diana Ross doing "chain reaction". Chain reactions are chemistry whether between molecules or humans. I think the "Chain Lightning" could be a physical thing, too, although with Steely Dan it is hard to tell.

@borderpup
Well dun to Lexie for winning - again! - with Diana Ross and Chain Reaction. Our linky is Goldie Lookin Chain with Fresh Prince of Cwmbran, because ... they wear chains and are no strangers to provoking a reaction! (Pawsonally I fink they would be a good choice for Glasto instead of a certain rapper who takes himself waaaay to seriously.)

@wotterface
Well last week's winner was you with Diana Ross and Chain Reaction, which is ace. The video very much reminded me of another (well, the 60's bit anyway) so my choice this week is Outcast with Hey Ya! See the similarities?

@terenceterrier
Larst week yoo winned da chainy wiv Diana Ross singing Chain Reaction wot be a songy we likes a lot. I'm not doin too well wiv my linkies so me n mum put our heads togeva. Cos mum haz science degree she immediately finked of da chain reaction caused by a nuclear exploshun like wot you get wiv nuclear bombs. She remembas lotsa Ban da Bomb protest marches in da news when she woz young. One of her favrit songs had da line ...if the button is pushed there is no running away ... referring to da red button wot launches da bomb of mass destruction n da fact yoo only hav 4 mins to get to yor underground bunker. So we gives yoo Barry McGuire n Eve of Destruction. It woz released in 1965 but fings just as bad now in da werld.

@kelsoterrier
Well my reaction to last week's chain winner was to think about Diana Ross's crazy hair - it always reminds me of a mahoosive microphone. A chain reaction is where something leads to a self-amplifying chain of events. *tenuous link alert* Such as emm one microphone leading to multiple microphones? If you had multiple microphones you could, of course, record stereophonic sound. Where am I going with this? Well The Stereophonics sang a chain reactiony type of song which was "A Thousand Trees" *sings* "It only takes one match to burn a thousand trees"

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…..last week you chose a song by the inimitable Diana Ross….she was one of the Supremes….a nice thing to eat is chicken supreme….so this made us think about the band the Dixie Chicks…and our linky this week is Wide Open Spaces by these lovely ladies….

Ere wot Dad said:  Blimey! Wot a lot of great links. I really like Goldie Looking Chain and Barry McGuire arghh!!! Both great links. Hmmm, but I have to go with Barry McGuire. Well done. I thought the Stereophonics link was funny. I too thought that of her hair.

So da winner as chosen by me dad dus be ................. @terenceterrier wiv Barry McGuire and Eve of Destruction. Well done me pal you choosin next week.

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 5th July 2015 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!

Lexie's Chain dus be inspired by da pawsome Radcliffe & Maconie Show wot you can has a listen to on dere website. Follow me @dogstoyevsky or #lexieschain on Twitter to join da fun. Remember anyfink goes! Rock, classical, opera, ballads, punk, reggae - is up to you! Fanx for playin!

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Twenty Ninth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 229 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Sonic wiv New Radicals an You Get What You Give. Let's see what we got dis week:

@maggietkat
Loved the New Rascals tune! The lyrics speak to "the music in me". A ground breaking Coca Cola commercial introduced us to sharing music, the music of love within me. The New Seekers recorded a full length version. My chain is "I'd like to teach the world to sing".

@diamondbertie
Last weeks winner was @sonikebt who chose You Get What You Give by New Radicals
My mind immediately came to Justin Timberlake with What Goes Around Comes Around.

@wotterface
Last week's winner was Sonic with The New Radicals and You Get What You Give. This track was a massive one hit wonder so we've gone down the 90's nostalgia route and chosen another massive one hit wonder form the 90's. Blind Melon and No Rain with the famous bumblebee girl...

@terenceterrier
Little pal Sonic winned da chainy wiv da linky “You Get What You Give” by New Radicals. Corse as everyfur noes dis be one of da fings wot Karma be abowt. So my linky dis week be “Instant Karma” by John Lennon.

@bunnersandharvs
So we so happy fur @sonikebt's win last week wid New Radicals, You Get What You Give. Dis songy made us think if we gave love we would get love so we going wid dat theme and using da Beatles All You Need Is Love. Yep, is true, everybody sing...daadadeedaada.

@djladylexie
I'm gonna be a bit radical here (ha!) an go wiv free radicals and atoms … one could say I'm startin a chain reaction! So I gives you Chain Reaction from Diana Ross!

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…last week Mr Sonic chose a song by the New Radicals…well this week we have decided to link to some other radicals (see what I did there?)….a very controversial theory indeed is the theory about the creation of the universe….in the mid-20th century, British astrophysicists, including Stephen Hawking turned their attention to the theory of relativity and its implications regarding our notions of time. According to their calculations, time and space had a finite beginning that corresponded to the origin of matter and energy…..wow….this is now known as the Big Bang Theory…so our link this week is the Bare Naked Ladies and the theme tune to the TV series Big Bang Theory…

An the winner as chosen by ........................ Sonic  .......................... dus be ..........  no no no no!!! Wot goin on! Is me again sorry pals! Oh dear dad not gonna be appy ;).

Ere wot Sonic said:  Well done to everyone for great links this week. It was very difficult to chose a winner. We have chosen linky 6 coz we like a bit of radical thinking and this choice did make us laugh. It did also make the typist nostalgic remembering dancing to this at the disco when she was young!

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 28th June 2015 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss).

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Twenty Eighth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 228 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was me wiv Rolling Stones an You Can't Always Get What You Want. Let's see wot appened this week!

@wotterface
Last week's winner was you, again, with the Rolling Stones. The Rolling Stones take their name from the phrase "a rolling stone gathers no moss" meaning if you keep moving you keep fresh and new. But this is the time of year where someone does gather moss so they can make homes for their babies - the birds. So I've chosen Young Fathers with their song Nest, to think about all the birds that are working hard at this time of year to raise their babies.

@sonikebt
Last week Lexie won with the Rolling Stones. When you try you do sometimes get what you need but it's good to remember that we always get what we give. Our link this week is "You get what you give" by New Radicals.

@terenceterrier
Lexie wins da chainy agin wiv da linky You Can't Always Get What you Want by The Rolling Stones. As a single dis woz da B side of Honky Tonk Woman. Dis woz also a track on da 1969 album Let It Bleed. Dis woz da first album wot had Mick Taylor on it. He woz previously guitarist wiv John Mayall's BluesBreakers . He had been asked to join dem after their regular guitarist Eric Clapton went off to form da band Cream. ( still wiv me ? good cos in dat case yoo will know where dis iz going) SO for my linky dis week I gives yoo Eric C wiv Layla cos she sounds a bit of a HTW!

@maggietkat
Congrats on "you can't always get what you want". I think when your luck runs out, you got to,be moving on. I have 2 songs with the same link this week. Sorry, but I couldn't choose.
1. The Rolling Stones got their name from the Muddy Waters song. Muddy was instrumental (pun not really intended) in establishing the Chicago Blues scene. A band in the 60's, the Paul Butterfield Band, was mentored by Muddy and other blues artists. They recorded a Robert Johnson standard, "Walkin Blues" because when you can't get what you want, you better be getting.

2. Not only is the Walkin Blues a classic for how to leave your ex behind. Paul Simon said it best, "50 ways to leave your lover". Of course, I think The Muppets tell it best, and what Amipal doesn't love Animal?

@skye613
So this week DJ Lexie has moved to Beefa. I'll bet that during that fun ride she had some times of dissatisfaction. What's a sweet pup to do?? Well , play a game & sing a song. My linky this week " Rock, Paper , Scissors".

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…last week you chose a song by the Rolling Stones…a rolling stone gathers no moss they say….moss is a plant…we don’t know many songs about plants but one we do know is by Elvis Costello…”Good Year for the Roses”…

An the winner as chosen by ........................ dad .......................... dus be ......................... @sonikebt wiv New Radicals! Well done me pal you chooses next week.

Ere wot Dad said: All great links again! I like the train of thought about getting what you want, then not wanting it and so on. So, I am going to go with the New Radicals continuing the theme. Hasta Luego :). Eric Clapton was a close second and animal a close third so well done all.

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 21st June 2015 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Twenty Seventh Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 227 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Maggie wiv After you Get What You Want by Marilyn Monroe. Let's see wot appened this week!

@claptonterrier
Last week Maggie chose a song which featured in a film starring Marilyn Monroe….a recent music vide featured its singer dressed as  both Marilyn Monroe and Jacqueline Kennedy. It centres on the theme of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The introduction features the classic rendition "Happy Birthday Mr. President" as performed by Marilyn ….and so this week our link is “National Anthem” by Lana Del Ray.

@bunnersandharvs
Well dat Maggie did have a great linky last week with da songy 'After You Get What You Want' by Marilyn and you knows we thorts about how sum peoples int neva satisfied and dey orbsessed with getting stuff, den not bothered afta dey gets it and den wants more. Soooooooo, it gots us thinking abowt Mordonna. Cos she says she is a 'Material Girl' and well she dus seem to collect men den afta a while gets rid of dem. Oh and she dus also seem to be a smiiiidddge into Marilyn too. So dat why we going wid her songy fur dis week's linky oh and it fun to dance to, too. Have fun choooosing Maggie.

@skye613
Maggie did win with a great show tune by Irving Berlin. The train of thought is you may not want what you're wishing for, but Janis wasn't on board that came train. Oh Lord!

@wotterface
Simple this week. From one song about disappointment to another. Adele's Rolling in the Deep. "We could have had it all..." Cor, she's got a pair of lungs on her!

 @terenceterrier
Da winnin linky from pal Maggie larst week woz “After You Get What You Want You Don’t Want It” singed by Marilyn Munro. Da name put on her birf certificate woz Norma Jeane Mortenso. She is da Norma Jean to in da lyriks of da songy  by Sir Elton John “Candle In The Wind” wot be a tribute to her life n wot be my linky dis week.

 @borderpup
Well, how to make a linky from Marilyn's song! As it came from 'There's No Business Like Show Business', we decided to go with Ethel Merman who used to belt out the title song  and was a huge Broadway star - in fact, 'Hello Dolly' was written for her. So Broadway is our link and a hugely popular show in modern times is 'The Lion King'. Here is the song 'Circle of Life' from the film version:

@sonikeBT
Well done @maggiekat for winning with "After you get what you want you don't want it". This is a song about a man who has a roving eye and cheats on Marilyn. Our link this week is about a man who regrets cheating on his girlfriend, "Always the last to know" by Del Amitri. (Reports of us watching the video (ok Justin Currie) over & over again to research link are true. Living the dream!).

@diamondbertie
Well here goes, last week @maggietkat wine with Marilyn Monroe singing After You Get What You Want, she was a famous "sex bomb". Got me thinking of another "sex bomb". Eartha Kitt and she singing I'm Just an Old Fashioned Girl the songs were so typical of these ladies.

@djladylexie
Is true after you get what you want, you don't want it. But there are times when you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you might get what you need! The Rolling Stones told me that so that's my linky!

An the winner as chosen by ........................ Maggie .......................... dus be ......................... oh noes!!! Not again! Is me! Pffffttttt. Well I dus be in Ibeefa (for real) and so I can get dad to dus it! Yay!

Ere wot Maggie said: OMC, so difficult to chose! I love every chain, so many of my favorites and new ones to learn. For some reason I woke up with the Rolling Stones "You can't always get what you want" on my mind. I couldn't believe it when that song was a chain! By pure coincidence I have to pick The Stones.

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 14th June 2015 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss).

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Twenty Sixth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 226 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was me wiv Mrs Robinson from Simon and Garfunkel. Let's see wot we dus gotted dis week!

@kelsoterrier
*Scratches head* *Scratches nether regions* Stops scratching fir a minit to think of a link. Hmm, Mrs Robinson. Well, ok, this song was written for the famous cult film "The Graduate". When you graduate you usually do this at a ceremony where you get your degree certificate. So we've got a cult film and a ceremony. Eureka! The Cult had a fabby album called Ceremony! So for my link this week I'm going to choose my favorite song from that album what be Wild Hearted Son.

@wotterface
So well done Lex on picking last week's winner of Simon and Barfunkel with Mrs Robinson. It just so happens I read an interview with Mr Barfunkel this week where he said some not very nice things about Mr Simon and basically said they will never perform together again (he doesn't seem a very nice person at all, unfortunately) .

This got me thinking and researching bands where the band mates don't like each other. I could have gone with an Oasis track as they're well known for fighting, as were The Police.

But in honour of the man who would fall out with himself if he was the only person in the room, I've chosen Guns n Roses with Paradise City. Please Mr Axl, calm down.

@terenceterrier
So yoo winned AGIN ! Dis time wiv Mrs Robinson by Simon and Garfunkel. Dis songy woz from the film The Graduate wot starred Dustin Hoffman. Da next film wot he starred in woz Midnight Cowboy. So my linky I chooses da feem toon from dis wot be Everybody's Talking by Harry Nilsso.

@sonikebt
Lexie won last week with "Mrs Robinson" by Simon and Garfunkel. Paul Simon's 1986 album was called "Graceland" which was also Elvis' home. Elvis had a hit with "Hound Dog" and we know that everyone loves a hound especially Kate Bush with our link this week "Hounds of Love.

@skye613
Nice win Lexie. Love the tune that come out in 1968 on the Bookends album. Was a very good year 1968. Taking a trip down memory lane I realized Ben could be saying to Mrs. Robinson "If morning's echo says we've sinned, well, it was what I wanted now."

@bunnersandharvs
Well so here we goes wid anuther linky and one dat being all about luving someone wot is older dan you or affurs and well dis gots us thinking dat it all just keerazy dat luv thing and dat gots us thinking bowt da songy by Elvis called 'Crazy Little Think Called Love'. So dat our linky dis week cos nun of it eva makes sense to us. Good luck wid chosin da chainy, Lexie's Dad. Happy week evapawdy. xx

@maggietkat
Well done Lexi with Simon and Garfunkel's Mrs. Robinson. The last verse talks about Joltin' Joe, Joe DiMaggio who played shortstop for the New York Yankees. In 1954 Joe married Marilyn Monroe but the marriage lasted less than a year. A 1954 movie There's No Business Like Show Business starred Marilyn (and Ethyl Merman, David O'Connor). One of the songs is "After You Get What You Want". I remembered that the affair between Mrs. Robinson and Benjamin had it's ups and downs. So I think that anticipation and desire aren't always successful, otherwise known as "after you get what you want you don't want it".

An the winner as chosen by ........................ ma dad .......................... dus be ......................... Maggie! Yay. Well done me pal. Is you choosin next week.

Ere wot Dad said: Great links again. I though the Cult and Guns n Roses links were very good, funny. However, I think the idea of getting what you want then not wanting it any more is spot on. I'm going with Marilyn Monroe link. Well done.

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 7th June 2015 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss).
