Last week's winning song from @CloonfourMegan was "Touch Me" by Sam Fox. During her music career Sam worked with Stock Aitken & Waterman as did the group we have chosen this week. This group features in The Guinness Book of Records as the all-female group with the most chart entries in the world. Our choice this week is one of first they did with SA&W - "Venus" by Bananarama.

Hmmm let's see ... me linky is touching and boobies. Sam Fox started her career as a pin up girl and topless model and page 3 girl in The Sun and was one of the most photographed women of the 1980's.So me wondered who was the most photographed person in the world ever? Is not as easy a question as you'd fink. I did find out that the most selfied (pifflefiffle) apart from me is Kim Kardashian who takes over 1500 pics a day of herself!! Well, as we know, if we are down wiv da kids, Kim Kardashian is married to rapper Kanye West. Ere be a song rap fing by im wot is called Touch The Sky wot has got Pamela Anderson in it wot has also got famuss boobies.

Pondering on dis I recalls da painting "The Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies" wot features in da TV sitcom " Allo Allo". In dis da cafe in German occupied France be run by Rene n his wife Edith. Edith be da cabaret singer wot supposed to entertain da customers but she be appallingly bad at it. So to save yoo from listening to her I finds annuva French singer called Edith wot be lots better. Congrats to Megan for chalking up annuver win on da chain with Sam Fox and Touch Me *shudders at the horror*. How on earth this song made it to number 3 in the charts in the week of 30 March 1986 baffles me. Mind you at number 1 that week was Cliff Richard and The Young Ones wiv Living Doll ... yet annuver monstrosity but at least it was for charidee. Well done Bertie! We goin wiv The Temptations and Papa Was a Rolling Stone. What? How? Well Louis Armstrong was also known as Satchmo, a nickname that was shortened from Satchelmouth (because of his large mouth) by Melody Maker editor when he came to the UK. Another artist known for his big mouth is Mick Jagger. Jagger is lead singer of the Rolling Stones. The Temptations sang Papa Was A Rolling Stone. Simples!

Well done Lexie for winning with "Missionary Man" by The Eurythmics. Dave Stewart, inspired by the performances of U2 & Talking Heads, wanted to write a song which could be performed in an arena setting. The Eurythmics made the crossover to arenas & Missionary Man went on to win a Grammy for Best Rock Performance. U2 hold the most Grammy's in this category & our choice this week is their winning song from 2001 - "Beautiful Day".

Wow! Terence is on a roll! Well done pal. So this week we have movie stars singing. Hmmm , well the last 2 words of the song are Mamma Mia. Not hard to figure out where to go. Sausages is one of the many ingredients in a full english breakfast wot english people like to eat. Well done with "where do you go..." Mum shared an aisle with Cuba Gooding, Senior on a plane recently. It was quite exciting and he took pictures with everyone. Surreal experience. (Cuba, Jr is the academy award actor.) Cuba, Sr. was the lead in The Main Ingredient. He told Mum that when love goes, "Everybody Plays the Fool".

Dey do say dat he had movie star Sophia Loren in mind wen he writted dat song cos she grew up in back streets of Naples. Altho best known as actress she did record an album of funny songs wiv Peter Sellers. Cos all furs luvs sossidges I give yoo da songy “Bangers and Mash” wot got released as a single also in da 60’s n made da charts.

Well done Bertie! The Ivors are presented annually by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. In 1970 " Where Do You Go To ( My Lovely ) " won the best song musically and lyrically. Among the other winners that year were Barry Mason, John Lennon & David Bowie. Bowie won a special award for originality with this great song!

where do you go to my loverly. Well this was about a young french girl Marie Claire wot found fame and fortune. There are many references to famous people in the song. One reference dus be Marlene Dietrich. A great song of hers - Lili Marleen was also about lost love.

My link dus be Leonard Cohen's The Old Revolution. What? Why? Well, let me tell you. One half of EBTG duo dus be Ben Watt. In 2003 Ben Watt launched his own independent record label called Buzzin' Fly named after a song by Tim Buckley. Tim Buckley was the father of the wonderful Jeff Buckley. Jeff Buckley covered Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah (said to be better than the original wot I agrees wiv). Leonard Cohen's The Old Revolution was used in the TV show The Walking Dead.

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Eighty Fifth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 285 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Skye wiv Walkin in Memphis from Cher. Let's see what we gots this week:

Well done Skye with Cher covering Walking in Memphis. Mum has been taking care of a hospitalized 92 yo lady until the lady got mad and kicked her out. Mum knows the lady was frustrated and feeling sorry for herself but it hurt mum. My link for the day is also a cover, one that describes regret and depression not unlike her friend. Here is Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt" originally by Depeche Mode.

Last week's winner was Skye with Walking in Memphis by Cher, this got me thinking of Memphis the last resting place the "the King" Elvis Presley, but nothing jumped out to me so I thought outside the box and keeping to the theme of walking I remembered Helen Shapiro and she song Walking Back To Happiness, she had a lovely voice shame she did not go further longer.

She played da part of one of three women wot developed their magical abilities when a devil in human form ( played by Jack Nicholson) moved into their town. I've decided to do some lateral finkin on dis one and chosen walkin as me feme. Walkin is somfink you do by putting one foot (or two paws) in front of other so you can go from place to place. Waulking on the other paw is the technique of finishing newly-woven tweed. Waulking song. Waulking songs are Scottish folk songs, traditionally sung in the Gaelic language by women while waulking cloth. This practice involved a group of people beating newly woven tweed rhythmically against a table or similar surface to soften it. A lot of people wear tweed when they are out in the country avin walks. Sooooo, ere be my song for walking and waulking! Skye Waulking from Capercaillie an in true Trucker style ere be the live version.

Well done Sir with Bridge over troubled water. Water is one of the 4 classic element, earth, wind or air, fire, and water. The troubled US has been plagued this week with race related shootings. According to Marc , he went to Memphis and Graceland when he was trying to break into the business for inspiration. Couldn't resist a cover for a cover.

Elvis was the man! When he was first startin out singing and dancin he was told he wasn't allowed to swing his hips on stage. His nickname was Elvis the Pelvis and later he earned the honourable and fitting title of The King of Rock and Roll. Elvis married Priscilla and they had a daughter who was called Lisa Marie Presley. Lisa Marie Presley married Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson was also had the title of King ... King of Pop. So I'm going with a Michael Jackson song called You Are Not Alone. The video for the song stars Lisa Marie Presley.

Well done to Sir C for winning the chain last week with September by Earth Wind and Fire. September was the month that our olds got married & they had their first date on the Ides of March. The Ides of March became notorious as the day of Julius Caesar's assassination, led by his friend Brutus. These events have been referred to this week re all the political back stabbing that's been going on. So our link this week is "Assassin" by Muse.

Last week's winner was Clapton with Earth, Wind and Fire. Earth, wind and fire are three of the four elements, the fourth being ice cream, obviously. But it looks like no one taught those guys to count to four and they missed the last one off. So my choice this week is Feist with 1234, so they can finally add the final one. Ooo that Clapton, a sneaky one with September by EWF. I have heard that tune so many times, but I still can't figure out the words in the chorus. So, I looked for month and unintelligible lyrics. In honor of the colonies' holiday, July 4, here is the band Chicago with that mumble mouthed Chicago accent doing Saturday in the Park (but they have great hair).

Earth, wind and fire are elements. The fourth element is air. Course, you kow there is a fifth element. The fifth element is considered to be the ether, the vacuum, the void or .. space. There is also a filum wot is called The Fifth Element where the fifth element in human form combines the power of the first four elements to defeat evil, as you do. Well, that was a great filum and a great soundtrack too. So we gonna pick a song from the movie wot is called The Diva Dance.

Hello Miss Lexie…last week Miss Skye won with the song Old Blue…i discovered that this is a famous old folk song from the 19th century….and that got me to thinking of other old songs which have been made famous again by pop music…and this week my link is a song that traces its roots back (some say) to as long ago as 1650…its Whisky In The Jar…and sung here by the band Thin Lizzy in the 1970s...

Well done Skye with The Byrds! I was so excited to form links with this song. Gene Clark was one of the founding members of The Byrds. Gene was recruited/left/fired from The New Christy Minstrels. One tune that has him listed but he may never really have played on is the ballad "Today".

Well done Skye for winning last week with "Ole Blue" by The Byrds. Now we dogs & cats love watching the birds, albeit for slightly nefarious purposes. The vocalist in our band this week is also a keen bird watcher & has a PhD in ornithology which probably explains our link - "Watching Birds" by Stornoway.

Blue is very popular word in music. Blue is a feeling, blue is a colour, blue is a name, blue is a type of music. Frank Sinatra was called Old Blue Eyes coz his eyes were blue. I like this song wot managed to mix colour of eyes wiv feelin blue. I gives you Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue from Crystal Gale, who despite the title of the song actually had blue eyes :).

Hello Miss Lexie…last week we had a song by Dire Straits…this was a band who were formed in 1977…unbelievably there is a Wikipedia page dedicated to bands formed in 1977…and more unbelievably we read there that 90s mega-band INXS were actually formed as far back as 1977…wow. So this week our link is Mystify by Inxs…!!

Last week @Terenceterrier won with Dire Straits and Eric Clapton helping singing Brothers in Arms, I wanted a link that would remind us of the horror of the conflict which creates a bond like no other. My choice is Mash a haunting theme it was a tragi/comic film, the words were haunting too.

Well done Terence with dire straits "brothers in arms". Dire straits saved the 80's IMHO. I am going with the arms or body parts link. The Bellamy Brothers wrote a runaway country hit titled "if I had a beautiful body would you hold it against me". There are so many vids of this chart that I thought I'd choose one of my favorites by Derek Jacob from Last Tango in Halifax.

Well done Sir Tel for a lovely link last week and a bit of Dire Straits with "Brothers in Arms". This song was about the Falklands War and was used in the film Spy Game starring Brad Pitt and Robert Redford. The composer Harry Gregson-Williams who wrote the score for the Spy Game also worked with Aardman Animations on the films Chicken Run and Flushed Away. Aardman's most famous characters were Wallace and Gromit so our link this week is their theme tune by Julian Nott.

My linky is Sting! Brothers in Arms was recorded in Montseratt. Sting appears on the track Money for Nothing. Many British artists have recorded albums in Montseratt, a caribbean island in the err ... caribbean! These include Dire Straits, Police, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins and more. In 1997 the island was devastated by a volcano and many musicians joined together to raise funds desperately needed. The concert was called Music for Montserrat. The Police performed Message in a bottle at the concert and a message in a bottle is what you send when you is stuck on an island. Message In A Bottle - Police. Fanx.
