Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Thirty Fourth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 234 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Wyn (@wotterface) wiv Run Boy Run from Woodkid. Let's see wot we got dis time:

@diamondbertie
Last week @wotterface won with Run Boy Run by wood kid I really struggled with this one but have to give it a go, I'm using running as the link, my choice is the theme music from the film Chariots of Fire.

@terenceterrier
larst week da winnin linky woz Run Boy Run by Woodkid . Weird. Really weird.  Anyhows I had to vestigate . Seems dis Woodkid chappie became moozishun cos he woz given ukulele by Ritchie Havens. RH became faymuss afta doing opening stint at 1969 Woodstock festival ( see dat ties da wood bit in nicely). So I takes a lookysee at weva any of our favrit bands were there. Yep ! The Who. So I gives yoo dem perform My Generation  at dat very furst Woodstock.

@skye613
This is only the second time I have heard Woodkid. And I like him very much. In the vid for my link Drake - Take Care - you can see the early influence he developed in the vid for " Run Boy Run" . This video was done in 2012. The themes of darkness, animals and hope abound in his direction of these videos.

@bunnersandharvs
Well dis week's linky is Run Boy Run wot Wotterface did win last week. We did think that wos a good songy and it did make us think that when you runs you gets stronger so we going simples dis week wid Kelly Clarkson's 'Stonger' cos not only dus  it be a supa songy when you running it a makes you feel good too.

@djladylexie
Me really like Woodkid fanx for introducin me to im. I has absolutely no reason to this but for some reason it reminds me of Bronski Beat an Smalltown Boy. Running away .. you can never really run away from your life, it goes wiv you wherever you go.

@sonikebt
Loved @wotterface song Run Boy Run by Woodkid last week.  Well if the boy did run he would be a "Real Gone Kid" Deacon Blue. Woohoowoohoo.

@maggietkat
Well done with Run by Snow Patrol. I figured that if you run, you can roam where you want to. By the B52's.

So the winner, as chosen by Wyn ..................................................... dus be ................................Skye! (@skye613). Yay well done me pal. You choosin next week Skye!

Ere wot Wyn said: This week I decided I'd pick a song I'd never heard before but then all the links were songs I'd heard already! What are the chances?! So instead I've chosen the song I was least likely to choose but surprised myself, especially as I didn't know Woodkid directed the video and it makes me listen to the song completely differently watching the video. This week's winner is link 3!

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Thirty Third Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 233 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was SonikeBT wiv Run an Snow Patrol. Let's see wot we dus got this week:

@maggietkat
Well done with Run by Snow Patrol. I figured that if you run, you can "Roam" where you want to... By the B52's.

@terenceterrier
Larst week da winnin linky woz Run by Snow Patrol . If yoo runs yoo will get tired n have to slow down for a walk. So gonna use dat as my link n I gives yoo Walk on The Wildside by Lou Reed.

@wotterface
Last week's winner was Snow Patrol with Run, a song about hope. I've chosen another song about hope with a brilliant video. It's also got "run" in the title, twice! "Run Boy Run" by Woodkid.

@kelsoterrier
I see last week's winning link was Snow Patrol with Run. Such a great band for us dogs, we love Snow, Squirrel Patrol, Running and Chasing Cars! This got me thinking about Canine linkies....then all that thinking made me hungry which is another canine trait, well for me anyway. After eating I started to think about our origins and how we're like a wolf in a lot of ways. Hmm, Hungry...Like The Wolf, ok, let's go with that then. A classic from Duran Duran, now, where's my treat?

@skye613
Last week @sonikebt based their  winning linky on the theme of hope and light. What is the opposite you ask? Florence has the answer "No Light, No Light ".

@djladylexie
Snow Patrol wiv Run was da winner. Snow Patrol does be a fantastic band. One of their songs we love is called Set The Fire to the Third Bar. This song is about an electric heater with 3 bars when you never had central heating unless you was posh and used to put all three bars of when it was really cold specially when it was snowin outside (see what I did there?), even if it was sunny! So we goin wiv Foo Fighters and Cold Day In The Sun.

An da winner as chosen by @sonikebt dus be ....................... @wotterface! Yay well done me pal! Dus be you next week!

Ere wot Sonike said: Well done all for great links this week. We have chosen link 3 because we like hopeful songs and the song and video were great. As a Durannie, link 4 was a very very very close second mostly because we got to watch Roger Taylor - swoon!

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 26th July 2015 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Thirty Second Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 232 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Harvs wiv Anthem by Leonard Cohen. Let's see what we got dis week:

@claptonterrier
last week Sir Terence chose a song called Anthem by Leonard Cohen…we thought about doing some research about Mr Cohen and the clever lyrics to his songs and picking some clever song as a result…but instead we looked at rock anthems…far easier…..so this week our link is Mr Brightside by The Killers….much nicer boys than their name would suggest.

@terenceterrier
Larst week da winning linky woz Anthem by Leonard Cohen. There be lotsa anthems to choose from as linkies but fort a rendishun of God Save Da Queen mite not be kwite wot would impress da judge. So I looked at footie club anthems instead n gives you da Liverpool FC one Gerry & The Pacemakers wiv You'll Never Walk Alone . *sways along to da moosik wearing red footie shirt*

@borderpup
Well dun to Tel for picking Anthem by Leonard Cohen! When we fink of anthems, we fink of songs where people sing along and wave their lighters (or mobile phones these days!). One of our faves is On a Day Like This by Elbow. It has been used in lots of tv progs and stuff, and was the closing song for the London Olympics. We are choosing the performance from Glastonbury last year, where the rain clouds cleared to reveal a lovely sunset while they sang 'it's feeling like a beautiful daaaaaay'. Magical!

@sonikebt
Well done @bunnersandharvs for winning with 'Anthem' by Leonard Cohen. We were struck by the line "a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in" and how, when things are broken, that in light there is hope of change & repentance. So this week we are going with the themes of hope & light with 'Run' by Snow Patrol

@maggietkat
Well done with Leonard Cohen's "Anthem"! When I think of Cohen, I recall the incredible performance by K.D. Lang at the 2010 Winter Olympics. We were all mesmerized by the power of Lang's voice in Cohen's hymn, "Hallelujah".

@djladylexie
Another great Leonard Cohen song was Suzanne - a girl he had a platonic relationship wiv. A platonic friend is someone wot you is friends wiv and the subject of sex never comes up. We all needs friends from time to time and we needs em through the good times and the bad times. That's why I chosed Lean On Me.

So da winner as chosen by ........... @bunnersandharvs dus be ................. @sonikebt . Well done me pal you choosin next week.

Here's wot Harvs said: gOLLy wOt a sUpA wEeK oF LinKies. wE aLwAyS LuVs sEeiNg wOt yOO paWs cOmE uP wiD & wE diD hAvE a sUpA tiMe LiStEniN & wOs billy hARd tO cHOosE bUt wE gOIN wiD LINKy 4. sO wEhAa tO dA wiNNEr!

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Thirty First Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 231 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Sir Terence wiv Eve of Destruction by Barry McGuire. Let's see what we got dis week:

@maggietkat
Well done Mr. T with Barry Maguire. Barry became a member of the New Christy Minstrels, a ground breaking folk group.  In honor of Canadian Dominion Day and the Day the Yanks declared Independence, my link is This Land is Your Land covered by the New Christy Minstrels. (the song was written by Woody Guthrie. It has been suggested that Guthrie showed some communistic leanings in the song, but people will say anything.  If this is true, then the song dovetails with Maguire's song.)

@wotterface
Last week's winner was T with Eve of Destruction, a war protest song. Here in England we've seen lots of war over the year and this lady wrote a protest song from the point of view of someone who fought in an English War. It's from her album "Let England Shake" and it's called "The Words that Maketh Murder". It's lovely P J Harvey...

@bunnersandharvs
So we sending huge congrachoolashuns to Terence fur da winning linky last week, 'Eve of Destruction' by Barry McGuire. So what does you do when you on da eve of sumthin going pippity pops? Well, we thort you might sing an Anthem. So dat our linky dis week, cos if we going we better be thankful so sit back and listen to 'Anthem, by Leonard Cohen if you would. Happy choosin, Ter and happy week to eva one here too.

@sonikebt
Well done Terence for winning last week's chain with "Eve of Destruction" by Barry McGuire, a protest song against war. Our link this week continues this theme and juxtaposes a catchy pop tune with an anti war message. Heaven by the Psychedelic Furs.

@borderpup
Hmm, we did scratch our heads for a while to make a link from Terence's clever winning linky Eve of Destruction! We fink this song became popular again a few years after its release, when it was performed at Woodstock. We are going to continue with the protest song theme, and Woodstock, with a much more upbeat number. This is an anti war song told with dark humour from a soldier's point of view and was recorded by Country Joe & the Fish. At Woodstock, Country Joe played it solo when he was asked to fill in for Santana while their equipment was being set up, and it was filmed and became part of history! Here he is with I-feel-like-I'm-fixin'-to-die rag.

@diamondbertie
Last week @terenceterrier won with Eve of Destruction by Barry McGuire. My choice chosen spontaneously is Zagger and Evans singing In The Year 2525.

@djladylexie
Dis week we dus be takin you into the world of moosicals and boxin! What you says? Well let me tell you. Barry is a great name an when we seed you linky we fort it said Barry McGuigan! Who as we dus know likes fightin. Course, we don't mean fightin in a war but in the boxin ring. So what better song to represent da boxin ring and the futility of war, albeit gangster wars in this case, than Boxer from Bugsy Malone! So you wanna be a boxer la de da la dum dooo.

@claptonterrier
Llast week Sir Terence chose Eve of Destruction as his link…and we were struck by what he said about having four minutes to get to the underground bunker…that made us think of Roger Bannister running his famous four-minute mile and so this week our link is a song about running….Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band...

@skye613
Whoa is me. Was traveling last week and missed da chainy! Great , great tune was winner from Terence, " Eve of Destruction " 1965. So many years we have been so close to the edge. Are we at the " Final Countdown " ? I say we chose to survive! As Gloria Gaynor sings " Oh, as long as I know love, I know I'll stay alive" My linky this week " I Will Survive "

So da winner as chosen by ........... @terenceterrier dus be ................. @wiv . Well done me pal you choosin next week.

Here's wot Tel said: Fank you very muchly my pals for sending me 9 interestin linkies to listen to. Some of da artists or da songs were noo to me but uvvas were old favrits. Afta much considerayshun aided by a plate of sossidges I chooses for my winner linky 3 –Anthem / Leonard Cohen wiv linky 8 – Bruce Springstein / Born to Run a close second.

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 12th July 2015 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!
