Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Thirty Eighth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 238 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was me wiv Yesterday from The Beatles. Let's see wot we got this week:

@maggietkat
well done with "Yesterday" by the Beatles. yesterday was released on the album Help! I got thinking about how to give help to someone who was facing all their yesterdays. You can just "Lean on Me" by Bill Withers.

@terenceterrier
So yoo winned agin wiv The Beatles and Yesterday. A songy wot we like a lot. Da opposite of yesterday is tomorrow. So I searches & for my linky i finds a songy If Tomorrow Never Comes by Ronan Keating. Good advice in it cos it sez to tell people today how you feel cos tomorrow may be too late. Same applies to our furry friends and fambly. But I woz well trained by Tucker to go for a live vershun so I gives yoo dis duet wiv Lulu.

@wotterface
So last week the winning track was The Beatles with Yesterday. Beetles are little beasties and the Beatles were the original Boy Band so this week I've chosen Beastie Boys with Sabotage (because Dad knows all the words to Sabotage and the video is uber cool).

@sonikebt
Well done @djladylexie for the winning link last week. Opportunity Knocks was hosted by Hughie Green who was Paula Yates father. Paula was best known as a TV presenter and writer but was also a recording artist.  She appeared on a version of 'These boots are made for walking' in 1982 with B.E.F., a band which included Martyn Ware & Ian Craig Marsh from Human League & Heaven 17 fame. So delving once more into the rich vein of 80's pop, our link this week is our most fav song from that decade  "Don't You Want Me" by The Human League.

@skye613
One of the most famous Beatles songs of all time was composed in a dream, one night in 1965 , by Paul McCartney. " Yesterday "  was recorded as a solo with none of the others playing according to conflicting sources . In Jack White's first solo album he also recorded a song that came to him in a dream both the characters and the melody. He woke himself up to write it down. It is said that McCartney woke & hurried to a piano so as not to lose the tune . Enjoy " Blunderbluss".

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…the last winning song was Yesterday by the Beatles….the opposite of yesterday is tomorrow…tomorrow, and tomorrow and tomorrow…that is a line from Macbeth by William Shakespeare….but, oops, you are not supposed to say the name of that play and instead refer to it it as "the Scottish play"…so this week our link is to a fine Scottish band….”In a Big Country” by Big Country….

@bunnersandharvs
So Lexie did win with a cleva linky "Yesterday" by da Beatles. We loves dat songy but you know as paws, we only lives in da moment so dat our linky dis week by Jason Mraz called 'Living in the Moment' simple song but a sweet one too. Good luck choosing Lexie's Dad and here's to a happy week to all da pals.

So the winner, as chosen by dad ..................................................... dus be  ................................. @bunnersandharvs wiv Living In the Moment.

Ere wot me dad said: I liked all the links as always, but this one was lovely and simple (bit like Lex herself). I' keep telling her mum that dogs live in the moment.

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 30th August 2015 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Thirty Seventh Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 237 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Bertie wiv Mary Hopkin and Thems Was The Days. Let's see wot we got this week:

@maggietkat
Well done with Mary Hopkin singing "those were the days". The song was the last number in Raskins' last set when they played at London's Blue Angel. The classic movie "Blue Angel" featured Marlene Dietrich. In this movie Miss Dietrich sings the song that came to be associated with her, "Falling in Love Again..."   So, my chain is the Blue Angel club and movie.

http://youtu.be/HaZDiKRT1is

@terenceterrier
Bertie won the chainy last week with Those Were The Days sung by Mary Hopkins which was a hit in the 60s. It was about someone remembering the good times gone by. Another big hit from the 60s on a similar theme of remembering was I Remember You by Frank Ifield which is my chosen link.

@wotterface
So last week the winner was Mary Hopkins with Those Were The Days. The song immediately made me think of a song that's been stuck in my head all week. It covers the same sort of themes but looking forward instead of back - creating memories etc. it's Take That and These Days (instead of Those Days).

@sonikebt
Well done @diamondbertie for winning last weeks link. For our link this week we have chosen another great female singer with a song in support of @claptonterrier and the #ClaptonTTLieIn. The song is "Lying Down" by the fabulous Kirsty MacColl.

@claptonterrier
Last week Bertie chose a song by Mary Hopkins…..Miss Mary often recorded under the name Mary Visconti when she was not singing on her own records…this was because she married the very famous record producer Tony Visconti. He was perhaps most famous for working with David Bowie and so our link this week is “Sound & Vision” by David Bowie…i think you can hear Miss Mary in the backing vocals...

@skye613
Bertie won last week with " Those Were The Days" . The flipside of the UK & US versions was " Turn! Turn! Turn!" This was first arranged by Jim McGuinn ( AKA Roger McGuinn) for Judy Collins. While a member of the Byrds McGuinn along with Gene Clark and David Corsby  recorded this #1 hit in 1965. It's an old clip ... couldn't resist. Enjoy!

@djladylexie
Mary Opkin wiv Those Were The Days was Bertie's linky. Mary was discovered on Oppportunity Knocks by Twiggy and went on to be signed by Apple wot dus be The Beatles record label. The Beatles sang a song called Yesterday which makes reference to Opportunity Knocks on their first live recording of the song. Yesterday is our linky from The Beatles.

So the winner, as chosen by Bertie ..................................................... dus be  oh piffle de tiffle ..... is me AGAIN!  Pffttt ... ello dad choosin time again :).
Ere wot Bertie said: This has been a tough choice they were all wonderful links and great songs. I loved link 1, Marlene Dietrich was a great performer. Link 4 was great, l love Kirsty MacColl. I had her song Days for Peter's funeral, but my choice winning by a whisker is link 7 Yesterday by the Beatles,

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 23rd August 2015 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Thirty Sixth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 236 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was me wiv Cilla Black and Anyone Oo Ad a Heart! Lets see wot we got dis week:

@diamondbertie
You clever one winning with Cilla Black singing Anyone Who Had a Heart. Another singer who had connections with the Beatles, in fact I believe the first to sign up to the Apple records was Mary Hopkins with Those were the days A little known fact the tune comes from an old Czech folk song, the words are also very similar.

@maggietkat
Well done Lexie. There are so many lows with love and breakups. However, Marvin Gaye found out worst way would be if "I heard it through the grapevine".

@terenceterrier
Larst week yoo winned wiv Cilla Black Anyone Who Had a Heart. As everyfur noes Cilla used to host a TV show called Surprise Surprise. My reeserch tells me dat One Direction appeared on dat show in 2012. Well I coulda given yoo da song dey sung ( using dat descripshun loosely) but fort I would spare yor poor Dad da agony of having to wotch a teeny bopper boy band so hunted more summat more suitable.  I finds a song (sorta) called Surprise Surprise wot be performed by Billy Talent n gives yoo live vershun Tucker style.

@skye613
Last week the DJ Lexie did win with " Anyone Who Had A Heart " & we know that the Pop gonna be choosing. So sorry this not techno. BOL! But going with the heart theme leads in only one direction for me. If you love anything you will lose a piece of your heart. The one & only Janis - Piece of My Heart.

@bunnersandharvs
So Lexie did have a great win last week wid Cilla Black's Anyone Who Had a Heart wot was written by Burtie Bacharach. We says dat if you has a heart you always want dat person to be well and happy and so you always says a little prayer fur dem too....so dat our linkie dis week "Say a Little Prayer" it wos also written by Burt Bacharach. We also says dat when you luvs you always stay in someone's heart so you always together forever and ever. For me there is no one else but you. Hit it Aretha.

@claptonterrier
hello Miss Lexie…last week you chose a song by Cilla Black so the obvious choice for me this week is Blind Date by Barbara Streisand!

@sonikebt
The winning link from @djladylexie last week was by Cilla Black. Paul McCartney was one of Cilla's pals so we have chosen "Mull of Kintyre" as our link this week coz Mull is our fav Scottish Island & we are on our hols there this week.

So the winner, as chosen by ma dad ..................................................... dus be ................................ @diamondbertie and Mary Opkins wiv Those Were The Days ... because they were.

Ere wot dad said; Well that was a lorra lorra fun. Lots of great links (see what I did there!) but there can be only one as Highlander says so I choose .... number

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 26th July 2015 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Thirty Fifth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 235 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Skye wiv Drake's Take Care. Lets see wot we got dis week:

@terenceterrier
Skye winned larst week wiv Drake's Take Care ft Rihanna. I wotched da video n saw arrows being shot at a bull. Dis made me fink of poor Cecil da lion wot woz shot wiv an arrow n then killed dis week. So in honour of Cecil I gives you a linky  sung by Matt Munro wot be da feem from da film Born Free wot be abowt Elsa da lion.  Da two lead actors Virginnia McKenns n Bill Adams later helped set up da Born Free Foundation wot helps lions and lotsa uvver wild animals. (ps read all abowt it here www.bornfree.org.uk)

@wotterface
Last week's winner was Skye with Drake and Take Care. A Drake is a boy duck and that took me to songs about birds or mentioning birds. So my choice this week is the wacky They Might Be Giants with Birdhouse in your Soul.

@maggietkat
Congrats Skye with Drake's Take Care. That song was based on the Brook Benton chart  I'll Take Care of You which was a 1960 hit by Bobby Blue Bland. Brook was a singer in his own right and had a hit in 1970 with "Rainy Night in Georgia".

@sonikebt
Last week's song chosen by @syke613 'Take Care' is about mending broken hearts, building trust and moving on. Our choice this week by Green Day is also about moving on but making the best of a test and having the time of your life. "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)".

@claptonterrier
last week Miss Skye mentioned that the video for her song was made in 2012 and that made us think about the Olympics….the first event we saw in the 2012 Olympics was the cycling as we live close to the course….so this week we have picked a song we first heard on the credits of a cycling programme…it took us about a month to track down who it was…so my link this week if the brilliant Silver Lining by Fist Aid Kit…

@djladylexie
Last week Skye won wiv Take Care about mendin broken earts. Sadly, some hearts can never mend especially when they dus lose the love of they life. Today we did ear that Cilla Black died and they dus say that her heart never mended after losing the love of her life her husband Bobby Willis. So we dedicate this song to the star that was Cilla Black wiv Anyone Who Had A Heart. RIP Cilla and Bobby, together again.

So the winner, as chosen by Skye ..................................................... dus be ................................me again! Pffffftttttt. Dad on alert for choosin.

Ere wot Skye said; Wow ! What great links! And I must say am always a sucker for links that incorporate currents events and wonderful tunes. This week I chose link # 6 as Cilla Black has been a favorite and sorry to see she passed.  Was hard cause I also really liked #5. Thanks pals! Happy week!

Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!
