Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Forty Third Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 243 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was me wiv Kirsty MacColl and Don't Come The Cowboy With Me:

@terenceterrier
Dats da last straw ! Iz taken all a fur can take ! Annuva win from dat DJ ! Dis old pal slaves over a hot n steaming poota every week to concoct a witty n cleva linky n still dussnt succeed. Iz quivering wiv all da effort. *bangs head against wall n kicks paws on da floor in tantrum* Iz going doolally. *empties valerian pills down froat to calm down* And B-R-E-A-T-H-E . Annuva song by Kirsty MacColl iz A Guy Works Down The Chip Shop Swears He's Elvis. Sounds like he's also doolally. Dem folks wot be a sandwich short of a piknik get carted off to padded cells by da men in white coats. So my linky dis week be They're Coming To Take me Away Ha Ha. Da original woz by by Napolean X1V but I gives yoo a vershun by da aptly named NeuroticFish and da video shows clips of da Mad Hatter ( aka Johnny Depp ) from Alice in Wonderland wot be film from da crazy fantasy book by Lewis Carroll wot be a favrit of ours.

@diamondbertie
I must admit I love Kirsty MacColl and her song "Don't Come The Cowboy With Me" was a great choice. The song is about what nasty pieces of work a lot of men are to women, made me think the Nancy Sinatra song These Boots Are Made For Walking, which then got me thinking of boots and the hilarious film Kinky Boots, my choice is Kinky Boots - Cast Album Price and Sons Theme.

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…last week you chose the song “don’t come the cowboy with me sunny Jim”…..poor Mr Jim….i think he probably liked being a cowboy….but being a cowboy is not all fun and games….sometimes they have to go on the run…..so this week our link Is “Ride Like the Wind” by Christopher Cross…it tells the story of a cowboy on the run from the law all the way to Mexico….

@maggietkat
Well done with Kirsty Macoll! Something kept running through my pea brain, but "Not in These Shoes", was Cowboys. So, I chose a great video of some of the Nashville Greats joining together as the Highwaymen to sing, "Mamas don't let your babies grow up to be Cowboys".

@skye613
Ahhh! Great to be back to #Lexieschain! And da winner last week was DJ Lexie herself with Kristy Maccoll's " Don't Come the Cowboy with Me Sunny Jim. Kristy's life was ended to soon in a diving/boat accident in Mexico. While diving at night with her sons a boat came into their path, she saved her son Jamie by pushing him out of the boats way, losing her life. Her other son Louis was not in harm's way. Louis has carried on the musical tradition and is Ellie Gouldings manager. My pick " Beating Heart".

@sonikebt
Lovely Lexie did win last week with a great song by Kirsty MacColl about not being a cowboy. Some of the cowboys Kirsty was singing about weren't being very friendly but our linky this week is about a cowboy you could always count on. The song is "You've got a friend in me" by Randy Newman and the cowboy is Woody from Toy Story.

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Forty Second Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 242 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Maggie wiv Working My Way Back to you Babe from The Spinners. Lets see wot we gots dis week:

@terenceterrier
Larst week pal Maggie winned wiv Working my Way Back to You by The Spinners . Spinners use da wool from sheep. So for my linky dis week I give yoo Sheep by The Australian Pink Floyd Show.

@sonikebt
Last week's winner was @MaggieTKat with "Working my way back to you" by the Spinners. Once we got over @claptonterrier 's fondness for chunky men dancing, we noticed that the lyrics talk about missing their girl. So our link this week is "Missing" by Everything but the Girl.

@diamondbertie
Well done @maggietkat winning with The Spinners and working. My choice is Dolly Parton  singing Nine to Five which keeps the theme of working and the work place. This film made me laugh.

@djladylexie
Well done Maggie wiv Spinners and Working My Way Back. This week my link dus be Kirsty Macoll and Don't Come The Cowboy With Me Sunny Jim. You could say she's saying watch out to those Spinners! So why dat one? Well did you know that there was annuva band called The Spinners. They was an english folk singing group from Liverpool. They made a cover of a song by Ewan Macoll called Dirty Old Town. Ewan Macoll was the father of  Kirsty so dat me linky!

@claptonterrier
Last week Miss Maggie chose a song by the Spinners…quite by chance we sent you know who to a spinning class yesterday and someone asked us what spinning was so we had to explain to them it was riding a bicycle inside…so this week our link is The Bike Song by The Business Intl.

@bunnersandharvs
So we gots us anuther good linky dis week from Maggie by da Spinners 'Working My Way Back To You'. It dus be a real paw tapper. We did think dat if dey did work der way back den dey wos 'Together Again' so dat our linky dis week. It dusn't be da paw tapper like dem Spinners but it is by Emmylou Harris. Have a terrific time choosing dis week Maggie and happy week to all da pals.

An the winner ... as chosened by Maggie dus be ................ oh poo! I. Is me again! Pfftttt this is gettin silly! I may have to stop playing I finks.

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Forty First Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 241 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Clapton wiv Tom Petty and Refoogee. Let's see what we gots this time.

@terenceterrier
Larst week  little Clapton winned wiv Refugee by Tom Petty. Da 75th anniversary of da Battle of Britain wot ended WW2 being commerated next munf.  Lotsa refugees from dat war were Jewish. So I looks for a Jewish singer for da linky n find lots. In da end I chooses Mark Knopfler n da rather appropriate songy Brothers In Arms . Dis vershun be live in Berlin a city wot woz split in half afta da war.

@sonikebt
Well done @claptonterrier for a great song and a great sentiment last week. In the song Tom Petty says that we all had to fight to be free. So this week we give you "Freedom Come All Ye" performed by Lorraine McIntosh and written by Hamish Henderson.

@maggietkat
Congratulations Clapton with the Tom Petty number, "Refugee" which charted in 1980. Petty sang about a girl who has walled herself off from love. Although not quite the same, a man realized he had been messing around on his girl and was trying to turn it around. This version of "Working my way back to you" by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles also charted in 1980. I am including a video from Soul train and a flash mob version. Who says you can't herd humans!

@bunnersandharvs
So our linky dis week is Tom Petty's 'Refugee' wot was Clapton's linky and a good one it was too. We did read dem wurds agin and thort dat all da sadness and anger and hurt dem Refugees is going through means we needs to change da world which gots us thinking about da Beatles song, 'Revolution'. Everyone has da right to be free and be alright. Have fun selecting da linky, Clapton and have a great week, eva pawdy!

@djladylexie
A poignant linky this week from clapton. Well the world is in a great big mess really ain' t it wot wiv one fing and annuva. Somehow we dus need to make it a better place. No-one said it better than the King of Pop imself when he sang that very line, for you and for me and entire human race (and animals but not sure he said that). So that's my linky. Michael Jackson and Heal the World.

An the winner ... as chosened by Clapton dus be ................ Maggie! Yay well done me pal you choosin next week!

Ere wot CT said:  Just because we are suckers for some old soul and the sight of chunky men dancing, we are selecting link 3 this week: Working My Way Back to You!

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Fortieth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 240 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was me wiv Love and Anger from Kate Bush. So let's see wot we got this week:

@terenceterrier
Larst week yoo won agin with Love and Anger by Kate Bush wot be da person who duss strange dancing an became famuss wiv da songy Wuthering Heights wot inspired by da novel of da same name by Emily Bronte. However da band Genesis also released an album in 1976 Wind and Wuthering. Da titles of track 7 Unquiet Slumbers For the Sleepers ...n 8  ...In That Quiet Earth come from closing bit of da novel. Dey be linked instrumental tracks and be my linky dis week.

@wotteface
Last week's winner was you, again, with Kate Bush singing about Love and Anger. Well if you're angry about love then it's not a very good love, is it? Some might say it's Tainted Love.

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…last week you chose a song called Love and Anger…well, that is what we have been seeing on the news all week with the dreadful reports about the poor refugees fleeing across Europe…it breaks our heart…we feel love for them…but some feel nothing but anger…so in memory of the poor little boy who lost his life on that Turkish beach we are choosing the song “Refugee” by Tom Petty. The final verse and chorus say

Somewhere, somehow, somebody must have kicked you around some
Who knows maybe you were kidnapped tied up,
Taken away and held for ransom
Honey, it don't make no difference to me, baby
Everybody has to fight to be free, you see
You don't have to live like a refugee

@skye613
Love love Kate Bush. She wrote " Love & Anger ", two of the most powerful emotions to experience. Erasure sings that we can " Turn The Love To Anger" perhaps not the best idea but it does make for a great Lexieschain linky!

@maggietkat
Well done Lexie with Kate Bush's Love and Anger. One of the lines in the song was "a little piece of hope". This reminded me of another song with the title "Piece of my Heart" by Janis Joplin.

@bunnersandharvs
Well Lexie won agin last week wid an eggcepshunal linky by Kate Bush who sung about Love and Anger. We thort about love and anger and how it can tear people apart but it can also make something good and so we going wid an oldie but a goodie dis week by John Lennon. It is da songy, Imagine. Why? Well, it not only talks about living for today but we also saw a quote by him saying "Song writing is about getting the demon out of you. It's like being possessed. You try to go to sleep but the song won't let you. So you have to get up and make it into something, and then you're allowed to sleep." So we thort he kind of had a love hate relationship wid da music wot was inside him too.

Good luck wid choosing da linky and welcome home too.

@sonikebt
Love and Anger by Kate Bush was @djladylexie winning link last week.   The title of this song did remind us of the band Love and Money so we spent ages trying to find a link to their song "all you need is ..... love and money". During our unsuccessful search we discovered that L&M's James Grant had worked with Capercaillie's Karen Matheson. So, our link this week is a rather haunting love song which they collaborated on called "The Dreaming Sea",

Ere wot dad said: All the links are very good but the Genesis link is a superb chain worthy of mention. Imagine from John Lennon is poignant in view of recent events.  I am torn between those two and the Tom Petty link that illustrates how terribly wave suffer and cause suffering to others. However, to honour the child and all other children who have lost their lives due to conflict and war over many many decades, I'm going with Tom Petty link, but it was very hard to choose this week.

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 13th September 2015 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Thirty Ninth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 239 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Harvs wiv Living In The Moment from Jason Mraz. Pals I would ask you be pleased to note that I dus be returnin from beefa next weekend so there may be a slight delay as we will be off the grid for a bit! Anyhoo, let's see wot we got this week:

@skye613
Well done Harvey! Love that tune. And it made for a really easy linky for me. " Let's Go Living In The Past" Gotta love the flute! Have a good week chainy pals.

@sonikebt
Last week it was all about 'Living in the Moment' courtesy of @BunnersAndHarvs . This week it's all about 'Living in a Box' by Living in a Box.

@terenceterrier
larst week @bunnersandharvs did win wiv Living in the Moment by Jason Mraz. I not heard of him da only Jason I knoes is Jason Donovan. And the only other Donovan I knoes is,  err , Donovan . So I pick a purty song of his from long ago Catch The Wind.

@djladylexie
Living In the Moment means you are tryin to enjoy the here and now not finkin about the past or the future. Lookin for a moment that may never happen. It's livin in the gap between the past an the future. Well that reminds me of a song with that very line in it. It's called Love and Anger. By Kate Bush who was performing live this time last year by the way.

An da winner as chosen by ...................... Harvs ................ du be ................. oh is me again! No!!!!! Oh dear!
