Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Eighty Second Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 282 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was me wiv Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue from Crystal Gale. So let's see what we got this week:

@sonikebt
We going to stick with Lexie's Blue theme this week with The Bluebells and "Young at Heart" which was "interestingly" first recorded by Bananarama. Look out for some well known Scottish faces in the video! (Prob only well known in Scotland tho!).

@icypinklemonade
With all the mentions of blue in the winning link it made me think of "I'm blue (daba dee)" by Eiffel 65. And the chorus just transports me into the middle of a rave! *body thumps with the music*.

@skye613
hohohoh! Lexie's Dad not gonna be happy ! I'm sticking with the color link with one of my favorite tunes & artists. And just have to say thanks to Lexie, her M & D and all who play #Lexieschain. I love this game, learning new music and all ma pals who play.

@maggietkat
Well done Lexie AGAIN with Crystal Gayle's "Don't it make my brown eyes blue". I have a colour 2fer as well today. kT Tunstall hit the charts with her one woman song "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree".

@terenceterrier
arst week Lexie winned wiv “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue” by Crystal Gayle. Da singer chappie wot woz known as “Old Blue Eyes” woz Frank Sinatra. Dis week we had reffyrendum in da UK n voted to plough our own furrow from now on n do fings our way n not be told wot to do by da bigwigs in Brussels (or earwigs in any uva green vegetable for dat matter). So for my linky I chooses his songy “My Way” n dis vershun be live from da Royal Festival Hall, London, 1971.

@cloonfourmegan
Lexie won last week with Crystal Gayle and Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue. We is continuing the brown eyed theme with Van the Man and Brown Eyed Girl. It's a great song to sing and dance to together and we need a bit of that this week.

@diamondbertie
Well done there with Crystal Gayle singing Don't Make My Brown Eyes Blue, I have to offer as my choice the great Billy Holiday with Lady Sings the Blues, many singers have sung this but she in my opinion is the best.

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…last week you chose a song by Crystal Gale…its been pretty windy here today too…and now its raining…what next? …how about Earth, Wind & Fire? That will be quite an afternoon I think…

An da winner as chosened by me dad dus be .................................

Ere wot Dad said: my head hurts and my eyes. Colour me blue, brown, black, cherry, more blue and red. I can't possibly decide based on colour so am going for the one that didn't mention colour Earth Wind and Fire - September. That is the winner. Plus they wear outfits of every colour under the sun! Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Eighty First Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 281 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner Skye wiv Ole Blue from The Byrds. Let's see what we got this week:

@wotterface
Last weeks winner was a sad song about Old Blue so I decided to go with a happy song this week, also with a colour in the title. Coldplay and Yellow...

@terenceterrier
Larst week pal Skye winned wiv “Old Blue” by The Byrds.  From a songy abowt a bloo oldie I duss a nifty sidestep to a songy abowt a yellow oldie – “Old Yellow Dog” by Sheldon Chant.

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…last week Miss Skye won with the song Old Blue…i discovered that this is a famous old folk song from the 19th century….and that got me to thinking of other old songs which have been made famous again by pop music…and this week my link is a song that traces its roots back (some say) to as long ago as 1650…its Whisky In The Jar…and sung here by the band Thin Lizzy in the 1970s...

@diamondbertie
Greetings @skye613 won last week with Old Blue 1969, good choice I'm so glad that the doggy theme is kept up. Here is an old favourite of mine also a dog theme, Me and You and a Dog Named Boo.

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Skye won wiv Old Blue which did bring tear to mum's eye . Old Blue also refers to someone who went to the University of California Berkley so we pick Beach Boys with California Girls

@maggietkat
Well done Skye with The Byrds! I was so excited to form links with this song. Gene Clark was one of the founding members of The Byrds. Gene was recruited/left/fired from The New Christy Minstrels. One tune that has him listed but he may never really have played on is the ballad "Today".

@sonikebt
Well done Skye for winning last week with "Ole Blue" by The Byrds.  Now we dogs & cats love watching the birds, albeit for slightly nefarious purposes. The vocalist in our band this week is also a keen bird watcher & has a PhD in ornithology which probably explains our link - "Watching Birds" by Stornoway.

@djladylexie
Blue is very popular word in music. Blue is a feeling, blue is a colour, blue is a name, blue is a type of music. Frank Sinatra was called Old Blue Eyes coz his eyes were blue. I like this song wot managed to mix colour of eyes wiv feelin blue. I gives you Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue from Crystal Gale, who despite the title of the song actually had blue eyes :).

An da winner as chosened by @skye613 dus be ................................. nooooooooooooo!!!Is me again oh flip. Dad ain't gonna be appy.

Ere wot Skye said: Great links this week, every one of them are winners.  Hard pressed to chose between # 3, # 5 and # 8. But getting a twofer in colors hits the spot. # 8 is the winner!

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 26th June 2016 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Eightieth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 280 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was me wiv The Puppy Song from Harry Nilsson. Let's see what we got this week:

@maggietkat
Well done Lex with Puppy Love by Nilsson. I have 2 links to follow this week. One is puppies.  What do dogs head straight for? Trees. And then there is love.  My link this week is The Joker by the Steve Miller Band. Yes, he really loves your peaches.

@terenceterrier
Larst week Lexie winned wiv “The Puppy Song” by Harry Neilson. Everyfur knows dat our humums shood abide by da mantra “Adopt don’t Shop” so I will give da song “How Much Is That Puppy In The Window” a body swerve. Da rescue I came from woz Doris Banham Dog Rescue. One of their patrons is da singer/songwriter Maria Daines. She writes lotsa songs to help furs. My linky be her April 4 World Stray Animals Day official video.

@skye613
BOL! Always have to laugh when DJ Lexie wins. A great tune & vid of the start of sweet lives. Old Blue speaks of the other end of the cycle of life.

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Lexie won wiv the puppy song. Well there only one song to respond to that Puppy Love by Mum's husband Donny  (ok that bit didn't happen). Someone help mum help her please !

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…last week you chose a song by Nilsson …..we recently hear him compared to Randy Newman….such singular talents that they seem to have no predecessors and no successors….so this week our link is “Short People” by Randy Newman….*stands on platform boots*

@diamondbertie
ell done for winning last chain, I want to keep the doggy theme, giving my entry is a VERY old one, Pattie Page singing How Much Is That Doggy In The Window. Not sure what I feel about the song, selling any living animal in a shop with as little thought as selling a tee shirt is abhorrent.

@sonikebt
There were lots of lovely puppy dogs in the video for last week's winning link but no border terriers. So we are making up for that this week with a song dedicated to us borders - "Border Song" by Elton John

An da winner as chosened by me dad dus be ................................. @skye613. Well done me pal. You is choosin next time.

Ere wot me dad said: Lexie, this is another fine mess you've gotten me into! The Donny Osmond link was funny but I liked the one about the other end of life so I'm goin with Ole Blue.

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 19th June 2016 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Seventy Ninth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 279 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Megan wiv Valerie by The Zutons. Let's see what we got this week:

@maggietkat
Well done with "Valerie". The song mentions a lovely ginger hair girl so I thought I would follow though on the red head link. Brooks and Dunn recorded a fun tune which also mentions a red head. I hope you enjoy "Boot Scootin' Boogie".

@skye613
Last week Megan winned the chainy with " Valerie". The video for this tune was shot in a prison. Instantly Johnny Cash came to mind.  This legend recorded many tunes about prison life and often performed shows for inmates. Ironically, Cash never served time. This is a great duet with Waylon Jennings " Folsom Prison Blues".

@claptonterrier
last week our winner was Valerie by the Zutons….of course, this song became much more famous in the version sung by Amy Winehouse…and that got us thinking about songs where a cover version was better than the original…there are a few of these…All Along the Watchtower in its Dylan/Hendrix versions for example…but this week we have chosen a song called Heartbeats, made famous by Jose Gonzalez but originally recorded by a band called The Knife…(who?).

@terenceterrier
Larst week pal Megan winned wiv da linky “Valerie” by The Zutons. Dis wos also recorded by Amy Winehouse. A winehouse is a place where peeps make wine. In Spain little dogs wot look like Jack Russell Terriers were used to kill rats in da cellars at da wineries. So for my linkie I gives yoo The Winery Dogs n “Fooled Around And Fell In Love” (live vershun of corse like wot I woz tort to do by dear Tucker)

@diamondbertie
Last @cloonfourmegan won the chain with The Zutons and Valerie, I submit an unlikely entry with Peggy Seeger singing the Housewife's Alphabet this choice is because along with the comrade theme I think the loyalty of a wife is never recognised.

@sonikebt
Well done @cloonfourmegan for the win with the Zutons and "Valerie". Our hoograndma always wanted to be called Valerie because she was born on Valentine's Day. So our song this week is "My Funny Valentine" performed by Ella Fitzgerald.

@djladylexie
Valerie is a girls name. A famous Valerie is Valerie Singleton. She used to be on Blue Peter with John Noakes and Peter Purvis and a dog called Shep. Shep was a border collie. John Noakes had Shep from when he was a little puppy right til he died in 1977. So, this is my song for Shep, the Puppy Song from Nilsson.

An da winner as chosened by @cloonfourmegan dus be .................................oh no! is me pffttt. Well that mean's the old daddy-o will be doin the choosin next week.

Ere wot Megan said: Oh my wot clever interesting linkys this week. Humum used to have red hair so we like that & she do fink wives be underestimated (don't tell HuDad!) but we couldn't resist the story of Shep and it take mum back to her girlhood when she was a proper ginger! So we pick Linky 7.

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 12th June 2016 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Seventy Eighth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 278 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Terence wiv Brothers In Arms from Dire Straits. Let's see what we got this week:

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…last week we had a song by Dire Straits…this was a band who were formed in 1977…unbelievably there is a Wikipedia page dedicated to bands formed in 1977…and more unbelievably we read there that 90s mega-band INXS were actually formed as far back as 1977…wow. So this week our link is Mystify by Inxs…!!

@diamondbertie
Last week @Terenceterrier won with Dire Straits and Eric Clapton helping singing Brothers in Arms, I wanted a link that would remind us of the horror of the conflict which creates a bond like no other.  My choice is Mash a haunting theme it was a tragi/comic film, the words were haunting too.

@cloonfourmegan
Terence did win with Dire Straits and Brothers in Arms. This song makes us think of comradeship and this week we have lost one of our most lovely Twitter comrades so Val mum of @lucyyellowlab this is for you.

@maggietkat
Well done Terence with dire straits "brothers in arms". Dire straits saved the 80's IMHO. I am going with the arms or body parts link. The Bellamy Brothers wrote a runaway country hit titled "if I had a beautiful body would you hold it against me". There are so many vids of this chart that I thought I'd choose one of my favorites by Derek Jacob from Last Tango in Halifax.

@sonikebt
Well done Sir Tel for a lovely link last week and a bit of Dire Straits with "Brothers in Arms". This song was about the Falklands War and was used in the film Spy Game starring Brad Pitt and Robert Redford. The composer Harry Gregson-Williams who wrote the score for the Spy Game also worked with Aardman Animations on the films Chicken Run and Flushed Away.  Aardman's most famous characters were Wallace and Gromit so our link this week is their theme tune by Julian Nott.

@djladylexie
My linky is Sting! Brothers in Arms was recorded in Montseratt. Sting appears on the track Money for Nothing. Many British artists have recorded albums in Montseratt, a caribbean island in the err ... caribbean! These include Dire Straits, Police, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins and more. In 1997 the island was devastated by a volcano and many musicians joined together to raise funds desperately needed. The concert was called Music for Montserrat. The Police performed Message in a bottle at the concert and a message in a bottle is what you send when you is stuck on an island. Message In A Bottle - Police. Fanx.

@wotterface
Last weeks winner was dire straits with a song about brothers so I thought about family, Moms and Dads and brothers and sisters and sons and...

Daughter with Youth.

An da winner as chosened by @terenceterrier dus be ................................. @cloonfourmegan Valeria from da Zutons. Yay! Well done me pal. You be choosin next week.

Ere wot Tel said: Wowser some very clever linkies dis week n luvvly toons. I woz very impressed wiv da reasoning in numba 6 but sorry my pal I canny pick one sung by sumwun wot bears a strikin resemblance to Freddie Starr. My winna is linky 3 – Valerie by The Zutons. Just becos ....

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 5th June 2016 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!
