Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Ninety First Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 291 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Skye wiv Son of a Preacher Man from Melissa Etheridge. Let's see wot we got this week.

@terenceterrier
Larst week pal Skye winned wiv da linky “Son of a Preacher Man” singed by Melissa Etheridge. Yesterday we woz cornered in da front garden by two elderly ladies wot turned owt to be from da local Jehovah Witness church. Dey had some rilly crazy fings to say abowt animals. So I gonna choose a linky by Manic Street Preachers. Cos we still gots lotsa hot weather I pick da songy called “Indian Summer”.

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Skye won with Melissa Etheridge singing Son of A Preacher Man. We are keeping the religious theme going and pick Praise You by FatBoy Slim. We loves the dance troup too!

@claptonterrier
last week Miss Skye won with “Son of a Preacher Man”…so this week we are offering up a song by some actual sons of a preacher man….the band consists of three Followill brothers (and a cousin) who grew up in Oklahoma and Tennessee with their father, Ivan Leon Followill, a United Pentecostal Church preacher. According to Rolling Stone magazine, "While Ivan preached at churches and tent revivals throughout Oklahoma and the Deep South, the boys attended services and were occasionally enlisted to bang on some drums”. So our link is *S*x on Fire* by Kings of Leon.

@maggietkat
Well done Skye with Son of a Preacher man sung by Melissa Etheridge. I am going with a DOUBLE link! 2 of my favorite artists had reverend fathers, Fats Waller and Sam Cooke. So, here is Cooke singing the Waller composition, Ain't Misbehavin.

@diamondbertie
Clever @skye613 won with Son of a Preacher Man sung by Melissa Etheridge, knew that as sung by Dusty Springfield, this great song with its inference of purveyors of religion made me think of Sammy Davis Jr. Singing Rhythm of Life from the musical Sweet Charity.

@sonikebt
@skye613 's winning song last week was Dusty Springfield's "Son of a Preacher Man". Dusty collaborated with the Pet Shop Boys on a few songs including "What have I done to deserve this" which was co-written by Allee Willis. Allee also co-wrote our choice this week which is the theme music from one of the biggest TV shows of the 90's ...... Friends - "I'll be there for you" by The Rembrandts,

@djladylexie
Son of a preacher man .... a great female artist connecting music and religion into a great great song! I am choosin another great female who also connected music and religion - Annie Lennox. I gives you Eurythmics and Missionary Man.

An da winner as chosened by Megan dus be ................................. me! pffttt wiv Missionary Man from Eurythmics. Me dad choosins next week.

Ere wot Skye said: Oh my goodness! What great links this week. All wonderful tunes and well thought out links. Was very tempted by links 4 & 5, but linky 7 is the winnet. Can't go wrong with the Missionary Man!

So now is over to you. Email me: lex[dot]dogstovesky @ gmail.com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 4th September 2016 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. Lexie's Chain dus be inspired by da pawsome Radcliffe & Maconie Show wot you can has a listen to on dere website. Follow me @dogstoyevsky or #lexieschain on Twitter to join da fun. Remember anyfink goes! Rock, classical, opera, ballads, punk, reggae - is up to you! Fanx for playin!

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Ninetieth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 290 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Megan wiph Firework from Katie Perry. Let's see what we gots this week:

@djladylexie
Katy Perry wiv Firework was dis week. Fireworks come in many forms - catherine wheels, roman candles and my particular favourite rockets. So I'm goin with the fireworks theme and an omage to another Kate ... Kate Bush and Rocket's Tail.

@sonikebt
Well done @CloonfourMegan on winning with "Fireworks" by Katy Perry.  Fireworks create "Explosions" by Ellie Goulding.

@skye613
Katy Perry rose to fame on the tide of her first hit " I Kissed a Girl". After trying to be the next Amy Grant, Katy took her music to another genre. One would wonder what her parents thought as they are both preachers. Dusty Springfield sang about parents & preachers also. In 1999 Dusty  was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Melissa sang her most famous " Son of a Preacher Man".

@terenceterrier
Larst week pal Megan winned wiv da linky “Firework” by Katy Perry. Wot to do ? I could go down da Olympic route but dat bin followed many times before n I not wants to be a sheepsie. Righty ho – if you lites firewerks dey frow off lotsa pretty sparks. So for my linky dis week I go for “Sparks” by Coldplay. Tah rah !

@claptonterrier
last week we had the song Fireworks as our winner….I did not know much about that song but on Googling it I found that the video for it was shot in Budapest….there are many wonderful cities that have had songs written about them…but none more so that Paris…so this week our link is “Paris is Burning” by Ladyhawke…

@diamondbertie
@cloonfourmegan won with the topical Firework by Katy Perry. My choice isn't even a song but something I found on YouTube. It's a clip of the start of the movie The Best Of Men, this is the true story of Ludwigg Guttman who was the founder of the Paralympics This brilliant man refused to treat these damaged men as right offs. We are ending the Olympics and in a few days there are the Paralympics.

@maggietkat
Well done with Katy Perry and Firework. I love fireworks so I thought I would go with the light.  Sometimes there are fireworks that are gorgeous but the contrast between the brilliance and dark sky hurts your eyes.  Thus, my choice this week is "Blinded by the Light" by Manfred Mann.

An da winner as chosened by Megan dus be ................................. @Skye613 wiv son of preacher man from Melissa (Dusty Springfield).

Ere wot Megan said: What clever linkys with lots of fireworks and fun. We felt very emotional watching Linky 6 but in the end we picked Linky 3 which was clever but also features our heroine Dusty Springfield and a great version of her song which we hadn't heard before and really liked.

So now is over to you. Email me: lex[dot]dogstovesky @ gmail.com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 28th August 2016 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Eighty Ninth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 289 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Terence wiph Bangers an Mash from Sellers and Loren. Let's see what we gots this week:

@skye613
Wow! Terence is on a roll! Well done pal. So this week we have movie stars singing. Hmmm , well the last 2 words of the song are Mamma Mia. Not hard to figure out where to go. Mamma Mia is a stage show and film based on the songs of ABBA. In the film movie stars also sang the tunes but my link is the original.  All paws on the floor and let's boogie!

@diamondbertie
In the spirit of humour I submit Peggy Seeger with the Housewife's Alphabet, it funny in an ironic sort of way.

@claptonterrier
Last week our winning song was “bangers & Mash” so we have been thinking about food all week…as we terriers do…there are of course many songs about food….we found songs about Dixie Chickens, Flaming Pies, Green Onions, Milkshakes, Peaches and all the rest…but we really know that when push comes to shove everyone enjoys a nice sweet…and so our link this week is “Candy Everybody Wants” by 10,000 Maniacs...

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Terence won wiv the fab Bangers and Mash. Bangers are also a name for fireworks and although I don't like the noisy ones I do like this song by Katy Perry! It also be good Olympic anthem Go Team GB !

@maggietkat
Well done Terence with Bangers and Mash. I thought that I would use the food as my link. My choice are 2 other foods that go together, "Eggs and Sausage" by Tom Waits.

@sonikebt
@TerenceTerrier is one a roll winning with "Bangers and Mash" with Peter Sellars and Sophia Loren. What would go well with some bangers and mash? Perhaps some Salt n Pepa? Salt n Pepa's best know song is "Push It" which was written by Hurby Azor. Hurby is also credited on our choice this week because of the references the band made to the song. Our link this week is "Push it" by Garbage

@djladylexie
Well done Tel. Now let's see. Bangers an Mash from Sellers and Loren. Bangers, as we all know very well, dus be sausages. Dogs love sausages, FACT. Sausages is one of the many ingredients in a full english breakfast wot english people like to eat. English people especially like to eat this breakfast when they is on holiday, even more when they is on holibobs in the Costa Del Sol wot we calls Spain. So, ere be me omage to the english fry up an holibobs in Spain - Y Viva Espana. Wot is strangely a Belgian song which later was sung by a Swede. Now that's a European Union for ya.

An da winner as chosened by Terence dus be ................................. @cloonfourmegan wiv Katy Perry an Firework! Well done Megan - you dus be choosin next week.

Ere wot Terence said: It woz difficult to decide dis week wiv some clever well thought out linkies n gud songs. But in da end I gives an extra point for being topical wiv da Olympics n choose linky 4 – Katy Perry “Firework”

So now is over to you. Email me: lex[dot]dogstovesky @ gmail.com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Eighty Eighth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 288 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Bertie wiv Where Do You Go To Me Luverly from Peter Sarsedt or summat. Let's see what we gots this week:

@maggietkat
Well done with "where do you go..."  Mum shared an aisle with Cuba Gooding, Senior on a plane recently. It was quite exciting and he took pictures with everyone. Surreal experience.  (Cuba, Jr is the academy award actor.) Cuba, Sr. was the lead in The Main Ingredient. He told Mum that when love goes, "Everybody Plays the Fool".

@terenceterrier
Larst week Sir Bertie winned da chainy wiv “Where Do You Go to My Lovely” by Peter Sarstedt wot woz a hit in da 60’s. Dey do say dat he had movie star Sophia Loren in mind wen he writted dat song cos she grew up in back streets of Naples. Altho best known as actress she did record an album of funny songs wiv Peter Sellers. Cos all furs luvs sossidges I give yoo da songy “Bangers and Mash”  wot got released as a single also in da 60’s n made da charts.

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…last week we had a winner by Peter Sarsted…and I noticed that he was born in Delhi in India…a child of the old Raj….another famous musician who was also born in India was Cliff Richard…so this week our link is “We Don’t Talk Anymore” by Sir Clifff.

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Bertie won wiv Peter Sarstedt where do you go to my lovely? Mr Sarstedt also had a top ten hit with Frozen Orange Juice so we skip a couple of decades and choose the group Orange Juice with Rip it Up

@skye613
Well done Bertie! The Ivors are presented annually by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. In 1970 " Where Do You Go To ( My Lovely ) " won the best song musically and lyrically. Among the other winners that year were Barry Mason, John Lennon & David Bowie. Bowie won a special award for originality with this great song!

@sonikebt
@diamondbertie won the chain with "Where do you go to my lovely" by Peter Sarstedt. This song was said to be DJ John Peel's least favourite song so we have chosen his favourite song as our link this week, "Teenage Kicks" by The Undertones

@djladylexie
where do you go to my loverly. Well this was about a young french girl Marie Claire wot found fame and fortune. There are many references to famous people in the song. One reference dus be Marlene Dietrich. A great song of hers - Lili Marleen was also about lost love.

An da winner as chosened by Bertie dus be ................................. @terenceterrier wiv Bangers n Mash wiv Peter Sellers an Sophia Loren! Well done me pal  (again!!) you dus be choosin next week.

Ere wot Bertie said: What a great list of excellent links, I found each choice a good one. I narrowed it down to my two favourites number 2 link Bangers and Mash with Peter Sellers and Sophia Loren, this was funny. Link number 7 Lily Marleen sung by Marlene Dietrich, this lady will always have a soft spot in my heart, I met this beautiful lady when I was at the House of Commons (with the college) when I saw her in company of Bessie Braddock, I walked over to her to thank her for the pleasure her songs and films gave me. She was so kind and gracious and beautiful  I choose the link number two because I always prefer to laugh. Love Christine and Bertie.
So now is over to you. Email me: lex[dot]dogstovesky @ gmail.com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Eighty Seventh Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 287 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Terence wiv Girl from The Beatles. Let's see what we gots this week:

@wotterface
Last week's winner was T with one of the best Beatles songs ever. Mom had to shut her office door and stick her earphones in to have a listen and get shivers up her spine and go all mushy. She loves it.

So then I saw that another artist Mom loves regularly covers Girl in his live show - Serj Tankian. So my pick this week is his song Lie Lie Lie...

@maggietkat
Well done (again) Terence with Girl by the Beatles.  That song is in a minor key so I thought about other girl songs in a minor key. SO, here is another 60's hit in a minor key where "girl you'll be a woman soon" by Neil Diamond.

@claptonterrier
Last week our winning link was a song called “Girl”…and that got us to thinking about girls and women who have inspired famous pop songs….there are very many of these as you might expect…like Billie Jean King and Elton John’s “Philadelphia Freedom” and Christie Brinkley for Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl”….and Yoko Ono who inspired John Lennon to write “woman”...

but our link this week is the song “My Sharona” by the Knack...Doug Fieger was 25 when he met 17-year-old Sharona Alperin, and the love-at-first-sight inspired "My Sharona," which made Halperin's group, the Knack, one of the most successful one-hit wonders of all time. Today, Sharona is a realtor in Los Angeles, and promotes her listings at her official site, mysharona.com.

@diamondbertie
Last week @terenceterrier won with A Girl, sung by the Beatles,  this girl certainly made an impression, I thought of another girl from that era and Peter Sarstedt sang Where Do You Go To My Lovely. There are loads of tribute to girls songs in that era (late 60s) but I chose this one with its slight French flavour.

@skye613
Just could not resist this one! " Boys" The Beatles, need I say more!

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Tel won wiv Girl by the Beatles. We fort we would keep the insect theme going with Ant Music by Adam and the Ants!

@sonikebt
Great song choice from @TerenceTerrier with "Girl" by The Beatles. John Lennon is quoted as saying this song had a theme about Christianity in it and being tortured to attain heaven. So our link this week is "Losing My Religion" by R.E.M.

@djladyexie
Boys, girls?! Phew where to go. Well Blur of course wiv Girls and Boys! Coz boys like girls who like boys. Teehee.

@wonderwinger
Aha so my good friend Terence won last week with Girl by The Beatles. Just a quick link from me as I immediately thought of this songy on seeing last week's winner. After all girls like boys and boy like girls, but sometimes girls like boys to be girls and boys like girls to be boys. So it obviously had to be Blur with Girls & Boys.  Then once I saw the video it seemed an obvious link with Lexie's humans in Ibiza and all! Rofbol!

An da winner as chosened by Terence dus be ................................. @diamondbertie wiv Where Do You Go To Me Loverly from Peter Sarstedt .

Ere wot Terence said: Wowser! Fanks my pals i gots 9 linkies to judge. I narrowed it down to 3 – numba 3,4 n 7. I listen agin wivout da distrakshun of da videos an I choses *long silence* linky 4 wot be Peter Sarstedt wiv “Where Do You Go To My Lovely”
So now is over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 7th August 2016 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee.
