Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Twenty First Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 321 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was Skye wiv Tiger Mount Peasant Song from Fleet Foxes. CHANGE TO DEADLINE NOW MONDAY NOT SUNDAY COZ MUM USELESS. Let see what we gots this week:

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Skye won with Fleet Foxes and their Tiger Peasant song. Fleet Foxes also did a song about the Blue Ridge Mountains in 2008 as did these two some time earlier.

@diamondbertie
Last week Skye won with Tiger Mountain Peasant Song by Fleet Foxes. My choice this week is Island in The Sun by Harry Belafonte. The tenuous link is both songs hark back to a past that has joy and beauty.

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…last week our winner was a song by the Fleet Foxes…fleet is another word for fast..although foxes are quite fast I do not think they are as fast as horses…so we googled to see if we could fond songs about a fast horse…but we did not find one…which is odd because your horse is not known for much except running fast…one might call them a one-trick animal…so this week our linky is “One Trick Pony” by Paul Simon.

@terenceterrier
We'd not come across Fleet Foxes before or their track "Tiger Mount Peasant Song" so needed to research. We learnt they were an Indie Folk music band and hailed from Seattle. We learnt that their name was chosen because it was " evocative of some weird English activity like fox hunting". The well known folk singer Judy Collins also comes from Seattle. She recorded " Fairwell to Tarwathe" which references another hunting activity - that of the whale. The YouTube version we chose as our linky is by Stan Frantz as the photography is beautiful ( and there is a lovely dog in it).

@daisy_dor
Congrats to Skye on da win last week with Fleet Foxes. This week I shall offers you Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit. Why? Cos both bands hail from Seattle and have had the same record label. Plus it is an awesome song. So turn da volume up.

@sonikebt
Great link from @syke613 with "Tiger Mountain Peasant Song" by Fleet Foxes. This song is a reflection on mortality & loss which Robin Pecknold wrote following the loss of his Grandpa. This reminded us of the song our niece listened to when she lost her Grandpa - "Good Grief" by Bastille.

@djladylexie
When I first read that I fort it was Mount Pleasant Song! haha. Mount Pleasant is the site of a massive post office sorting office in London. The post office is responsible for sendin letters and packages. When you send a letter to someone you need to make sure they live where you are sending the letter or it will get returned to sender. Hmmm I fink there might be a song about that! Heehee here is me linky Return to Sender from Elvis the Pelvis also know as Elvis Presley!

An da winner as chosen by ............... Skye ...................... dus be ............................. Sonic! Yay well done me pal. You be choosin next week!

Ere wot me Skye said: As always, wonderful links. We all love music and what it does for our souls. The link we chose this week is another example of the power of music in our lives. #6 is the one we chose. And thanks Lexie and Mom!

So now is over to you. Email me: lex[dot]dogstovesky @ gmail.com or DM me on MONDAY 3rd April 2017 (gets it to me by 10am UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!

Lexie's Chain dus be inspired by da pawsome Radcliffe & Maconie Show wot you can has a listen to on dere website. Follow me @dogstoyevsky or #lexieschain on Twitter to join da fun. Remember anyfink goes! Rock, classical, opera, ballads, punk, reggae - is up to you! Fanx for playin!

Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Twentieth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 320 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was Megan wiv Touch Me from Sam Fox . Let see what we gots this week:

@sonikebt
Last week's winning song from @CloonfourMegan  was "Touch Me" by Sam Fox. During her music career Sam worked with Stock Aitken & Waterman as did the group we have chosen this week. This group features in The Guinness Book of Records as the all-female group with the most chart entries in the world. Our choice this week is one of first they did with SA&W - "Venus" by Bananarama.

@djladylexie
Hmmm let's see ... me linky is touching and boobies. Sam Fox started her career as a pin up girl and topless model and page 3 girl in The Sun and was one of the most photographed women of the 1980's.So me wondered who was the most photographed person in the world ever? Is not as easy a question as you'd fink. I did find out that the most selfied (pifflefiffle) apart from me is Kim Kardashian who takes over 1500 pics a day of herself!! Well, as we know, if we are down wiv da kids, Kim Kardashian  is married to rapper Kanye West. Ere be a song rap fing by im wot is called Touch The Sky wot has got Pamela Anderson in it wot has also got famuss boobies.

@skye613
Congrats Megan! Now there's an instant classic. Let's combine a few names today for our linky. From the presenter of this hit, Mick Fleetwood, we take Fleet. And from the artist, Fox. And to link it all together, foxes are rather tiger like in a smaller package.  The tune for your consideration.... " Tiger Mountain Peasant Song " by Fleet Foxes, enjoy!

@maggietkat
Well done with Sam Fox's Touch Me.  I have no idea how my mind jumped straight to my link, but this is Susan Sarandon in Rocky Horror Picture show singing Touch-a Touch-a Touch-a Touch Me.

@terenceterrier
Larst week Megan winned wiv da linky "Touch Me" by Samantha Fox. Before she woz a singer she woz page 3 model . Pondering on dis I recalls da painting "The Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies" wot features in da TV sitcom " Allo Allo". In dis da cafe in German occupied France be run by Rene n his wife Edith. Edith be da cabaret singer wot supposed to entertain da customers but she be appallingly bad at it.  So to save yoo from listening to her I finds annuva French singer called Edith wot be lots better. So my linky be "Non - Je Ne Regrette Rien" by Edith Piaf.

@diamondbertie
Well done Megan, Samantha Fox singing Touch me, what a lovely song about yearning, we've all been there, here's my link also about yearning, it's Shirley Bassey singing Kiss Me Honey Honey Kiss Me.

@daisy_dor
Congrats to Megan for chalking up annuver win on da chain with Sam Fox and Touch Me *shudders at the horror*. How on earth this song made it to number 3 in the charts in the week of 30 March 1986 baffles me. Mind you at number 1 that week was Cliff Richard and The Young Ones wiv Living Doll ... yet annuver monstrosity but at least it was for charidee. At number 2 that week was the fantabulous Sam Cooke wiv Wonderful World. So dat my linky dis week.

An da winner as chosen by ............... Megan  ...................... dus be ............................. Skye wiv Tiger Mount Peasant Song by Fleet Foxes.

Ere wot me Megan said: Oooh we lubs the linkys this week, all the booby references and so many songs that are mum's favs but we choose one we didn't know before and that is Linky No 3 and those Fleet Foxes.

So now is over to you. Email me: lex[dot]dogstovesky @ gmail.com or DM me on 26th March 2017 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!

Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Nineteenth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 319 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was me wiv Albatross from Fleetwood Mac. Let see what we gots this week:

@maggietkat
Well done with Albatross by Fleetwood Mac. I know about another Bird, Charlie "Yardbird" Parker who left Kansas City bound for 52nd Street. A club, Birdland was named after Bird and was one of the hottest jazz clubs in New York. A song describing the vibrancy of that time was written by Joe Zawinul. This vocalize version of Birdland is by Manhattan Transfer.

@cloonfourmegan
Last week you Lexie won with Albatross by Fleetwood Mac. Mick Fleetwood famously and disastrously once presented the Brits with Sam Fox. So my pick is Sam's greatest hit (!).

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie….last week our winner was a song called Albatross….the Albatross has the biggest wing spread of all the birds…..pffft….i am never sure why people thing the biggest of something is the best of something…its very smallist if you ask me…so we are very happy to settle for some smaller birds…and so this week our linky is Three Little Birds by Bob Marley….

@diamondbertie
Well done winning with Fleetwood Mac's Albatross, a beautiful timeless piece, they also had a song called Tusk.  This had me thinking of the 1960s film Jungle Book. My choice is Colonel Hathi's March from the same film.

@terenceterrier
Larst week Lexie winned da chainy wiv da luvvly Fleetwood Mac instrumental linky  " Albatross ". Phew *slaps paws to head* so many ways I could go wiv dis. An albatross be a humungus seabird. One famussly be featured n bumped off in a very long pome " The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner " by Samuel Taylor Coleridge ( wot mum had to recite by heart at skool! ) I discovers a moosic track ( using da term loosely) of da same name by da head bangers Iron Maiden on their Powerslave album. Da full vershun runs over 13 mins on YooToob so abowt da same as da pome takes to recite ! I gives yoo a vershun wiv lyrics to follow in case yoo dussnt knows da original pome cos it keep close to da original story n as a senior fur I consider it my duty to edjamacayt da youngsters.

@daisy_dor
Congrats to Lexi wiv her win last week with da super Albatross. This week I gives you Welcome to Da Pleasuredome by Frankie Goes To Hollywood. And how does we get from Fleetwood Mac to here I hears you ask. Well da Albatross is in da Rime of Da Ancient Mariner by that geezer Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Him also wrote Kubla Khan and da poem was da inspiration for Welcome to Da Pleasuredome. So dat's it for me linky this week.

@sonikebt
Lexie's winning song last week, "Albatross" by Fleetwood Mac, was influenced by the poem "The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner" by Coleridge, which Peter Green read as a child. We have gone for a literary link this week with a song which references Maya Angelou with the line "All God's children need traveling shoes". Our link is "Twist in my sobriety" by Tania Tikaram.

An da winner as chosen by ............... me dad ...................... dus be ............................. Megan wiv Sam Fox an her 'hit' song (shudder)!

Ere wot me dad said: I will never forget the Mick Fleetwood and Sam Fox debacle (wish I could!) so I'm going with link 2 Sam Fox because it's so bad. Well done.

So now is over to you. Email me: lex[dot]dogstovesky @ gmail.com or DM me on 19th March 2017 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!

Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Eighteenth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 318 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was Daisy wiv The Beautiful South and Don't Marry Her. Let see what we gots this week:

@maggietkat
Well done with "don't marry her" by Beautiful South. That song was on the album Blue is the Colour. I got thinking about spurned love and colors and remembered an classic. This song has it going for it,  "Don't it make my brown eyes blue" by Crystal Gayle. There are gratuitous backside shots of her hair.

@cloonfourmegan
 Last week Daisy had her first win (yay) with the Beautiful South Don't Marry Her. As we probably all know Paul Heaton their lead singer was also lead singer with Hull pop combo The Housemartins. One of their biggest hits was a Caravan of Love but this was a cover so I give you the original by the Isley Brothers plus one.

@claptonterrier
last week Miss Daisy won with a song about the beautiful South….we like this song about a part of the beautiful south of the USA (see what we did there?)…it name checks a lot of places….and is song about going home to a place in Alabama… So this week, our link is “Alabama Pines” by Jason Isobell & The 400 Unit.

@skye613

Keeping the matrimonial theme going. What you say, when they say no.. Gonna Marry That Girl!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIh2xe4jnpk

@diamondbertie
@daisy_dor won with The Beautiful South singing Don't Marry Her, I did not know this song and the film was so touching, my choice this week is keeping to the theme of marriage with Peggy Seeger singing The Housewife's Alphabet.

@terenceterrier
Larst week young Daisy clocked up her furst chainy win with "Don't Marry Her" by Beautiful South. I went owt to da garden wiv my tennis ball hoping inspawrayshun would strike. But it clouded over n piddled down so rain stopped play. Then I remembas dat Cliff Richard sang when rain stopped da tennis play at Wimbledon wot be in da bootiful sowf of England. If da man in da linky didn't marry da girl then he be a batchelor. "Batchelor Boy" woz a hit for Sir Cliff n woz one of da songies he sung n famuss tennis peeps joined him as his backing group. My linky be a YouTube mix called "Cliff Richard at Wimbledon part 1" n yoo needs to go to da 12 minnit mark to find it.

@sonikebt

Congratulations @daisy_dor for your first winning link with "Don't Marry Her" by the Beautiful South. Paul Heaton was previously in the Housemartins with Norman Cook aka Fat Boy Slim. Our link this week is a Fat Boy song which was co-written by the funk legend Bootsy Collins and has some brilliant Christopher Walken dancing in the video by Spike Jonze .- "Weapon of Choice".

@djladylexie
The Beautiful South was set up by two band members from The Housemartins. House martins are achewlly birds don't you know. Birds don't tend to get married mainly because of them not being able to get little dresses and suits to fit heehee. Seriously though! They may not get married but lots of birds pair for life. Once such bird is the Albatross. No matter how far away they fly from each other, they always come back to the same partner, in the same place. As an omage to this great bird,I give you my chainy wot dus be. Albatross, Fleetwood Mac.

An da winner as chosen by ............... Daisy ...................... dus be ............................. oh piffle shadiffle ..................................... is me! Dad gonna be humpity!

Ere wot Daisy said: Wow, what great linkies. A couple of songs what I was not familiar with, so fankoo for expanding me horizons and giving me new peeps to add to me playlists.

It was a close run thing between linkies 4, 6, 7 & 8 and as I couldn't make up me minds I called upon independent arbitrators in the shape of me humans. Fat lot of good that was as they each picked a different link (which proves me point that humans are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard). So leaving the final choice between their two runners and riders down to me, the winner this week is ....... linky 8 because the idea of likkle suits and dresses for birds made me BOL.

So now is over to you. Email me: lex[dot]dogstovesky @ gmail.com or DM me on 12th March 2017 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!
