Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Thirtieth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 330 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was Maggie wiph Smokey and Tears of a Clown. Lets see what we gots this week:

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie….last week our winner was Tears of a Clown…..we do not like to think of sad clowns….that is not what clowns are for…so this week we have selected a more upbeat song about a Clown…..it is Clown Strike by Elvis Costello…..

@skye613
Congrats to Maggie! So this tune got me thinking about other songs that have been covered in a different genre. Couldn't resist this one. The wonderful " Downtown " from Petula Clark in 1970's disco style by the great B-52's. Enjoy!

@terenceterrier
Wowser Maggie duss be on a roll ! Her winning linky be Smokey Robinson n "Bring In The Clowns" . There be lotsa famuss clowns. My favrit be Pierrot. So my linky be "Pierrot The Clown" by Placebo. I goin wiv a live vershun from M6 Private Concert in 2006.

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Maggie won wiv Tears of a Clown. We are a bit scared of clowns and this made us fink of an even more scary scene in Reservoir Dogs wiv lyrics 'clowns to the left of me' so we chooses Stuck in the Middle With You by Stealers Wheel.

@diamondbertie
Well done @maggitkat, your winning choice by The English Beat  - Tears of the Clown immediately got me thinking of On With The Motley from Pagliacci but I knew it wouldn't win. Much head scratching later I've come up with You Are So Vain by Carly Simon.

@djladylexie
Clowns ... always making people laugh but sad inside. No matter wot them feels, they know, the show must go on. Leo Sayer, The Show Must Go On.

Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Twenty Ninth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 329 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was Skye wiph Fine Young Cannibals an Suspicious Minds. Lets see what we gots this week:

@diamondbertie
Well done @skye613 with winning, your choice Fine Young Cannibals singing Suspicious Minds. That jogged my memory of Elvis Presley who sang that. My link is Elvis Presley (the King) and his film GI Blues where he sang Wooden Heart ❤. I humbly submit this offering.

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…last week our winner was a song by the band Fine Young Cannibals…oh dear…I don’t think there could be anything fine about cannibalism…I have a preference for less challenging food…in fact I quite like just siting in front of the TV with my dinner on my lap…perhaps some nice lamb kibble…so this week my linky is TV Dinners by ZZ Top….yum….oh, and when we play ed the video there was a long musical advert at the start,…that is NOT our link.

@cloonfourmegan
Last week sky winned wiv Fine Young Cannibals and Suspicious Minds. FYG were a Birmingham band and so were UB40. They both covered songs which were also sung by Elvis so here is UB40 wiv Can't Help Falling in Love With You.

@terenceterrier
So how duss I find a linky from "Suspicious Minds" by Fine Young Cannibals? Well da vershun I noes best is da one by Elvis Presley. So I gonna use annuva song of his on da same theme "Suspicion".

@maggietkat
Well done with fine young canibal's cover of suspicious minds. Before the canibals was the beat. This is their cover of a motown song, Smokey robinson's tears of a clown.

@sonikebt
Well done @syke613 for winning with "Suspicious Minds" by Fine Young Cannibals. This week we don't have suspicious minds we have  Simple Minds so "Don't you forget about me".

@djladylexie
Suspicious Mind is a song about trust and intuition. Suspecting your partner of being unfaithful can ruin a relationship. Just ask Tammy Wynette. She knows all about  it coz she got a D I V O R C E! Sing it Tammy :).

An da winner as chosen by ............... Skye...................... dus be ..............................  Maggie wiv Tears of a Clown. Yay! You choosin next week me pal.

Ere wot Skye said: Super great tunes this week. And it was a toss up between #5 and # 7. In the end the beat  rolled on! #5 wins! Thanks Lexie and Mom. I sure appreciate playing!

Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Twenty Eighth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 328 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was me wiv Shake A Tail Feava. Lets see what we gots this week:

@daisy_dor
Congrats to Maggie on da win last week, with Wilson Pickett's Land of a Thousand Dances. My link from dat song is Nutbush City Limits .... Wilson Pickett was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1991, the same year as Ike and Tina Turner who sang dis fantastic song wot is not about bushes wiv nuts in, Tina also released a 90s version of the song in 1991 so double da bubble for you link dis week and takes your pick which version you prefer.

@cloonfourmegan
Last week clever Maggie won with Wilson Pickett and Land of a 1000 Dances. Now that was one of a number of covers of that song. Another cover was by the fantastically named Cannibal and the Headhunters. We not so keen on Cannibals so we pick I Eat Cannibals by Toto Coelo ... although if you eat a Cannibal don't that make you one too!

@terenceterrier
Larst week clever  kitteh pal Maggie winned wiv "Land of a Thousand Dances" by Wilson Pickett. I try extra hard dis week n find a linky / artist wiv SIX fings wot link da songs n artists.
1 Both singers were born in da 40's
2 Both are from USA
3 Both are men
4 Both are now dead
5 Both songs were hits in da 60's
6 Both haz da numba 1000 in da title

Haz yoo guessed it yet ? Nope ? OK I tell yoo. It be "The Night Has a 1000 Eyes"  by Bobby Vee.

@skye613
Wilson Pickett recorded " Land of 1000 Dances" in Muscle Shoals, Alabama in his first set of sessions. He had previously recorded in Memphis. Memphis is the home of the one & only Elvis! The tune was also recorded before Picket by Cannibal & The Headhunters. How you ask can these 3 different things linky together? Well, here ya go! The Fine Young Cannibals doing a remake of " Suspicious Minds."   Enjoy.

@diamondbertie
Here is my entry, that clever @maggietkat won with Wilson Pickett singing Land of 1000 Dances. I immediately thought Bruce Springsteen with Dancing in the Dark, so many songs with dancing as the theme I chose this one.

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie...last week our winner was Land of a Thousand Dances....that seems like an awful lot of dances to me....I suspect I only have stamina for one dance with my little legs...so in that case please can you Save the Last Dance For Me?...BOL...The Drifters of course.

@djladylexie
Last week was Wilson Pickett wiph Land of a Thousand Dances. I fink I will go wiv numbers coz I like numbers. So me goin wiv simple linky using the word a fousand .. wiv a founsand bootiful fings from Annie Lennox.

@sonikebt
Well done @MaggieTKat for the winning song last week - "Land of a thousand dances". We did a bit of word association this week and the first song we thought of was the punk classic - "Swords of a thousand men" by Tenpole Tudor.

An da winner as chosen by ............... maggie  ...................... dus be ..............................  @skye613 ... skye! Yay well done me pal you dus be choosin next week.

Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Twenty Seventh Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 327 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was me wiv Shake A Tail Feava. Lets see what we gots this week:

@maggietkat
Well done with the Blues Brothers version of "Shake a Tail Feather". As with a lot of songs, artists changed lyrics but I happen to love this version. The street dancers performing the 60's dance mentioned is incredible. Another song that changed lyrics by adding the hook  "na na na na na" which became a hit. So, we have 2 top of the chart songs. I have a song which also has 60's dances. Wow! 2 links! This version is sung by Wilson Pickett who is out of the Mussel Shores studios, "Land of a Thousand Dances".

@diamondbertie
Oh how I loved The Blues Brothers, a brilliant film, my link is snagged from that film as well, it's Cab Calloway who has a mall part and he sings Minnie The Moocher.

@terenceterrier
Larst week Lexie winned wiv "Shake A Tail Feather" by Blues Brothers. Well knock me down wiv a feva if I dussnt  finds a linky wot connect both da name of a groups n da title of da songs. If yoo duss dis tail feva shakin dance fingy then yoo be shakin yor hips ( obvious innit) so my linky songy be "Hippy Hippy Shake" . Da group be The Swinging Blue Jeans wot connect wiv da previous group by da "Blue" werd.

An da winner as chosen by ............... me dad ...................... dus be ..............................  @maggiekat.

Ere wot Dad said: Flippin eck that was easier than usual .... where did everybody go?!

Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Twenty Sixth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 326 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was Megan wiv  Let see what we gots this week:

@daisy_dor
Well done Megan on another win on da chain and I very much enjoyed all the linkys. This week Megan's link allows me to link yo my most favourite song "Mahna Mahna" also by the Muppets. Why? Cos it is a song to indicate it has gone 5pm on a Friday fanks to Mr Simon Mayo which means humum is coming home and da weekend starts. Plus it do make me laugh.

@maggietkat
wonderful link with the Dancing Bear. I have loved the Muppets for years and always looked forward to their musical numbers. Some of their best are covers of famous songs. My link this week is "Bohemian Rhapsody" whether by the Muppets or Queen. The Jim Henson studio did an incredible job recreating the Queen video, so please check Queen's out as well.

@diamondbertie
What else to do on a wet, windy Sunday than ponder on your chain. @cloonfourmegan chose and won with the Muppets and Simon and His Amazing Dancing Bear, this made me laugh and put me in such good humour I had to choose Bare Necessities from the film Jungle Book.

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…last week Lady Megan won with a song from the muppet show. The Muppets have had very many famous musical guest stars over the years…we looked up the Billboard top 10 list of the best of those guests and the one I think liked the most was Elton John signing Muppet Crocodile Rock with the cast…

@terenceterrier
Larst week Megan give us "Simon Smith and His Amazing Dancing Bear" from The Muppet Show. Corse everyfur noes dat dis show be fronted by Kermit the Frog. So for my linky I looks for songs wiv frogs. Corse it has to be da hit by Paul McCartney and The Frog Chorus "We All Stand Together".

@sonikebt
Well done @CloonfourMegan for the win with "Simon smith and his amazing dancing bear. This week we are going with a dancing theme with our link "Wake me up before you go go" by Wham.

@djladylexie
Aww we loves Da Muppets! Well let me see .. my linky does be Big Bird from Sesame Street. What? How dat you asks! Well, Jim Henson created The Muppets who starred in the hit show The Muppets. Frank Oz was the puppeteer behind many of the muppets. The Muppets went on to star in Sesame Street, a children's TV show. One of the most famous stars of Sesame Street dus be Big Bird. Big Bird is a ... well ... err a big bird! Frank Oz was offered the part of Big Bird but declined as he didn't like performing full body characters. Frank Oz was also in Blues Brothers. Blues Brothers sang a song called Shake Your Tail Feather which is about shaking your behind to da music.  Some, bend over and let me see you shake your tail feather.

An da winner as chosen by ............... Megan...................... dus be .............................. piffle! Is me again. Me dad will dus the choosin fanx you.

Ere wot Megan said: It has been really lovely judging this week with so many muppet references. Mum still has her vinyl album of Muppet Show hits and do indeed model herself on Miss Piggy! Anyhoo ... we did love all the detail about Big Bird and we do love shaking our tail feathers so we chooses Linky 7!
