Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Fifty Fifth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 355 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was Sonic an Spik wiph .  Let's see wot we gots this week:

@claptonterrier
Last week our winner was Jerusalem….a song in praise of the country we call our home …..and this got to reminding me of another song we have always loved….This Land is Your Land by Woody Guthrie….a song about the beauty and variety of America and how it belongs to its people….something that I think we can all take to remind ourselves of in these dark times….and we have chosen a version by Bruce Springsteen….Mr Bruce explains what the song means to him at the start of the video….”this land was made for you and me”… not the 1%.

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Sonic did win wiv Jerusalem. As Sonic said this was written by the visionary poet William Blake. He also wrote a poem. Tiger Tiger which mum had to learn by heart at school (why? Who knows it was the 1970s!). So we chooses The Eye of the Tiger by Survivor

@diamondbertie

Well done Sonic and Spike, your choice of Jerusalem took me back to a time when the world was young and we still had our innocence which give me Vaughan Williams’ piece Seventeen Come Sunday played by The Academy of St Martin in the Fields and conducted by Sir Neville Mariner. I always get a lump to my throat when I hear this.

@maggietkat
Well done Sonic! Blake’s poem addresses many things and one I thought about were “dark satanic mills”. The Industrial Revolution was built on the small man. There are many songs about THE Man getting rich. My choice is about Kentucky coal mines, “you’ll never leave Harlan alive” sung by Patti Loveless.

@terenceterrier
Clever pals Sonic n Spike won wiv "Jerusalem " sung at da Proms. Dis is also sung at da opening of da National Federation of Women's Institutes AGM n also at some branch meetings. Da Rylstone branch famussly produced a calendar wiv pics of dem posing nude doing traditional WI activities n wot raised money for leukaemia research. Dis woz da inspawrayshun for da film "Calendar Girls".   A film where 6 unemployed steel workers from Sheffield stripped off to raise munney to pay their debts woz " The Full Monty". So my linky dis week is from dat film n be "You can leave your hat on" sung by Tom Jones. Da video I use is da final scene from da film n if yoo be of a sensitive nature yoo may need to avert yor eyes.

@skye613
Tis the season! My choice this week " Oh Little Town of Bethlehem ". Sorry no nothing of the last prom.

@djladylexie
My linky is U2. Jerusalem first started live as a poem "and did those feet in ancient times by William Blake. William Blake was a poet (ooo there's a surprise). He became a member of the Royal Academy which was then housed in Old Somerset House, near the Strand. Old Somerset House is now called Somerset House, which is the new Somerset House wot is still the old Somerset House *confussled*. Anyhoo, Somerset is also a county in England. Within that county is a place called Glastonbury and this is where the aptly-named Glastonbury Festival takes place. One band to play at Glastonbury are U2. U2 first made their appearance at Glastonbury in 2011. U2 named their 2014 album Songs of Innocence after the Blake book of poems of the same name. I choose a song from that album - The Miracle of Joey Ramone.

An da winner as chosen by ............... Sonic and Spike saided ...................... dus be  .............................. is me again!. Well done me haha! Dad be choosing next week.
