Lexie's Chain: The Sixty-Fourth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 64 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to Kelso to choose da winner coz of bein da winner last week wiv The Prodigy and Omen. Let's see what da linkies was.

@rettetkaninchen
My suggestion for next week is: Mysterons by Portishead. An Omen says there are Mysterons out there. Well, the Prodigy influenced Trip Hop music during the 90ies. And one of the first and biggest Trip Hop bands is Portishead. Beth Gibbons voice is just wonderful.

@patchdcat
There was a 70’s horror film called “The Omen” so for my linky I will have the film score from that film “Ave Satani”.

@terenceterrier
Last week’s winning linky was “Omen” by The Prodigy . An omen is a phenomenon which is supposed to portend good or evil. Certain birds have omens associated with them. So I look for a birdy group and select The Yardbirds. My linky by them is “For Your Love. *phew – got there in the end*.

@diamondbertie
My choice for this week is Telstar by the Tornados (1962). Why? the winner last week was Prodigy - Omen this was synthesised music and it got me thinking 50 years ago when such music was new and remarkable.

@wonderwinger
Well done to Kelso on ending his little losing steak last week. Last week's winning link was Omen by The Prodigy; in the film The Omen the boy Damien is believed to be the Antichrist. The Devil himself has made very few records but he did once demand a group to play the best song in the world ever or have their souls devoured. That group was Tenacious D. In the video to depict this event, Satan was played by Dave Grohl (better known as the front man of the Foo Fighters). The song they produced is our linky for this week: "Tribute". The drums on this song are played by Dave Grohl who also by coincidence played the drums for The Prodigy on Omen.

@bvfeyj
Last week we dids hab "Omen" by Prodigy. Dis from da album Invaders Must Die. Two more songs from da same album is "Warrior's Dance" and "Run With the Wolves". Dis reminded me ob da bootiful music score from Dances With Wolves... so me say "Dances With Wolves" by John Barry.

@zoetheborder
Ma pal @kelsoterrier chose "Omen" by The Prodigy. I fink it was a good choice, is like when I see Mom putting on makeup, I know is an omen dat she be going out wivout me, wot is probably wot they are referring to in da song. Da song about Mom putting on makeup and abandonment was on da album "Invaders Must Die" and Dave Grohl from de Foo Fighters played drums on anuvver track on dat album wot be called "Run with the Wolves". Obviously dis a good omen b/c we evolved from wolves, well maybe not Wylie...anyway, our favourite Foo Fighters song is "Everlong" which is on "The Colour and the Shape" and dat is da linky we pick!

@djladylexie
Right .. Prodigy with Omen eh?Well The Omen is a filum bowt a devil child fing wot is spawn of satan. He has da number of the best on him to show he the devil. So I chooses Iron Maiden and Number Of The Beast wot be 666!

@marleyterrier
We did be finkin wot an Omen was and of corse it do be a sign of sumfing. That did make us fink of Omen fillums and da evil boy who was Born Under a Bad Sign....which be a song by many peeple incloodin Richard Hawley....which did make us fink about his other songs, includin Coles Corner which be a place where grandma used to take dad when he was a nipper. It be a road in Sheffield near big shop. So we nommynatin that song.

@bunnersandharvs
Well done to da Kelso fur his win dis week. As usual da chainy be a head scratcher fur dese paws but da choice dis week do be Paul Weller's Wake up the Nation Why? Cus he wus nomernated fur da Mercury Prize wot just like dem Prodigy wus too. So dat be da choicy dis week.

@rosieterrier
The omen by the prodigy do put my grandpa in mind of their song 'baby's got a temper' which den leads him to Tinie Tempah' s song 'written in the stars'. Anuvver song relating to stars is The Belle Stars-'Sign of the Times' and dat be our linky.

Lexie's Chain: The Sixty-Third Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 63 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to me (represented by the Dad) to choose da winner again!

So, last week da winning linky was No-one Is To Blame by Howard Jones. A tough one we finks. Let's see what da linkies was.

@diamondbertie
Last week the winning link was "No One Is To Blame" sung by Howard Jones. This great song is of course about love and betrayed. Keeping to the theme I thought immediately of "Jezebel" sung by Frankie Laine.

@bunnersandharvs
Choozing dis week wasn't very eazy but den der is sum cleva paws pawticipating so well dun to da Lexie fur her win agin dis week! Da choicy we going wid dis week is Katie Melua - Blame It On The Moon. Why? First of all, da lady in da songy didn't rilly wunt to fall in love again and well she didn't have no one else to blame *whispas - we think she does rilly* but she dus go and blame it on da moon! Dat do be understandable to us paws cus when der isn't no udder explanshun fur something happening we dus says Mum, it must be da Moon's fault - hee hee and den we dus go howl at da moon der afta! BOL!

@patchdacat
Last week’s linky was by Howard Jones. 1n 1984 he released a song called “Like to get to know you well” which he said was dedicated to the original spirit of the Olympic Games. So my linky for this week is “Reach” by Gloria Estefan which was the song used in the 1996 Olympic Closing Ceremony.

@terenceterrier
Winning songy last week wuz by Howard Jones so fort I’d go for annuva Jones for the linky. Tom Jones ? Brian Jones ? Nah ! Let’s go wiv Terry Jones. He was in Monty Python’s Flying Circus and wrote “The Lumberjack Song” which is my linky.

@marleyterrier
As No One Is To Blame I c there is general amnesty for a week and I do be confessin that I Shot The Sherriff.

@bvfeyj
True to me word... me promised to pick an upbeat or funny song after da string ob sad songs so dis week me say "I Want You To Want Me" by Cheap Trick. Da linky ob course is dat boaf songs is about wanting. Howard Jones does say "You want her and she wants you"; eben tho the lyrics actually is a little sad (Cheap Trick say "Didn't I hear you crying" and "feel like dying" and all that) da song is pretty upbeat and kinda funny too. It always make mom smile and sometimes she dance and LOL. So dat is me pick for dis week.

@rosieterrier
I have a short and sweety linky today. Last weeks song was about temptation and the possibility of infidelity so this week I choose the opposite (ish)! Elvis Costello with High Fidelity.

@wonderwinger
Howard Jones' No one is to Blame was produced by Phil Collins & Hugh Padgham. Hugh Padgham has produced many artists from Genesis, to Paul McCartney to McFly. He also produced the albums Ghost in the Machine & Synchronicity for the Police. It is from this latter album that my linky comes: Wrapped Around your Finger.

@kelsoterrier
When researching the chain this week I discovered that Howard Jones used an analogue synthesiser called the Moog Prodidgy in a lot of his recordings I think this is a bit of an omen for me because it neatly links to one of my favourite bands The Prodigy who were named after this instrument! My link this week is, therefore, The Prodigy with Omen.

An the winner as chosen by The Dad dus be ...... @kelsoterrier wiv ........... Omen, The Prodigy. Dad say: is a no-brainer for im coz 1) he love The Prodigy and 2) the Synth link was superb! Oh an how can you not love the word Moog! Yay, well done ma pal. His second choice was The Lumberjack Song ;)).

Anyway is time again get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you Kelso!

It's over to you! Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until noon (GMT) Sunday 25 March 2012. Sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title! Ha-haaaaa - definitely works though!

Lexie's Chain: The Sixty-Second Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 62 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to Rosie (@rosieterrier) to choose da winner, a hard task this week wiv so many great entries yet again!

So, last week da winning linky was Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell. Let's see what da linkies was.

@rettetkaninchen
Violet by Hole. Why? Hole covered Joni Mitchell's "Both sides, now" and called the song "Clouds" (that's the name of the album where Joni released "Both sides, now"). I picked Violet because it is one of Hole's best songs.

@djladylexie
I has chosen Howard Jones, No-one Is To Blame. Why? Well the Joni Mitchell song was in the filum Love Actually and is played in the scene where the woman (played by Emma Thompson) realises her husband is having an affair. Is very sad. Howard Jones song is about temptation and infidelity.

@bvfeyj (Tucker)
Last week Rosie gibbed us da beautiful “Both Sides Now” by Joni Mitchell. Dis week me say “My Father” by Judy Collins. Why? Judy Collins was contemporary wif Joni Mitchell and eben did cober “Both Sides Now” (Mom like her cober ob “Both Sides Now” eben better dan Joni Mitchell’s version! BOL) She recorded other songs by many other artists, but she did also write and record her own songs. Dis be one dat she wrote. She one ob Mom’s faborite singers, and Mom say eben today she can still knock it out ob da park. Dis one hab always reminded Mom ob her father and now dat he is gone it hab eben more speshul meaning for her. (me promise to do upbeat or funny song next week! BOL)

@maggietkat an @parkerskat
We love Joni Mitchell. She hung acround with Jaco Pastorious, and even brought in the rest of his band, Weather Report. My offering this time is now classic jazz fusion chart, "Birdland" written by Zaiwinul.

@diamondbertie
My choice is Glen Campbell's Gentle on my Mind. Why? Glen Campbell also sang Both Sides Now, and he sang so many wonderful songs, Gentle on my Mind is a lovely romantic song.

@bunnersandharvs
Well it sure has been sad wid da loss of pals like @highlandhamish and wid so many pals feeling poorly we jus thort it wuld be nice to have a songy wong dat made us smile. Why? Cus we dus smile when we thinks about r pals who is well, those who is not so well and those who is OTRB. And dat did get r paws tapping & we thorts of Mr Blue Sky by ELO. Why? Cus wen ELO did write da song it was cloudy fur days and den was sunny. And we did dus says we looks up in da sky and thinks about happy times and all dem pals wot we dus luv. Awwww.... Hey der Mr Blue we're so happy to see you and we knows you loves us too! Does it make sense, no but den wot da heck. *taps paws...the sun is shining in da sky. Der ain't a cloud in sight...* Let's go! Hee hee!

@patchdacat
My linky for this week is “Leaving On A Jet Plane” by Peter, Paul & Mary. I closed my eyes & waited to get telepathic message & that song popped into my head. Now all you lexieschain entrants need to do the same to work out how it links. Tee Hee.

@terenceterrier
Last week’s winning linky “Both Sides Now” by Joni Mitchell was on her album called “Clouds”. Enuff of da sad linkies I say – let’s hav a jolly singalong wun for a change. My linky is anuva songy from the swinging sixties “Hi Ho Silver Lining” by recorded by Jeff Beck cos all clowdz are sposed to have a silva lining if yoo look hard enuff.

@wonderwinger
Firstly, congratulations to @Rosieterrier on her 1st #lexieschain win. Hurrah for you.
My linky this week is You're so Vain by Carly Simon. Why? Two reasons, James Taylor & clouds. Carly Simon used to be married to James Taylor. Joni Mitchell sang harmony with Carole King on James Taylor's version of You've Got A Friend. The lyrics of Both Sides Now refer to a feather cloud cannon where as Carly sings about clouds in your coffee.

The winner of the 62nd #lexieschain as chosen by @rosieterrier dus be .......... oh flippin eck!!! Is me! again. So sorry pals! Wiv Howard Jones and No-One Is To Blame. Ere dus be wot Rosie dun said:

Hello. I did be loving all of the songs and my sisfur and I disagreed but I do be choosing Howard Jones 'No one is to Blame'. Even tho it is a sad song I prefer to think of it as 'emotional' and I will sing it now when I do be into mischief!!

Mum wants to say somefink....... arrgghhhhh. Those songs do all be beautiful -my second choice was 'my father' ). Thank you xxx

Anyway is time again get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means dad!!!

Lexie's Chain: The Sixty-First Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 61 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to Briar (@wonderwinger) to choose da winner, a hard task this week wiv so many great entries yet again!

So, last week da winning linky was Marlene On The Wall by Suzanne Vega. Let's see what da linkies was.

@terenceterrier
Last week’s winning linky “Marlene on the Wall” was about a girl who ends up alone so my linky for this week is “All my myself” which was composed and performed by Eric Carmen. The lyrics have a similar twist. This song has been covered by many artists subsequently but I still think the original (long version) is the best – it has a beautiful instrumental section. Get tissues at the ready because it’s a real tear jerker *whimper sob whimper - sits in puddle of tears*

@bvfeyj (Tucker)
Last week we did hab "Marlene on the Wall" by Suzanne Vega. Dis week me suggest "At Seventeen" by Janis Ian. Why dat? Dey boaf American female singer/songwriters dat play acoustic guitar. Boaf went to performing arts schools in New York and boaf played in Greenwich Village. Dere style hab folk music roots. Janis wrote her first song at age 12 and had her first hit song at 13! Suzanne wrote her first song at age 14. Boaf ob dem still active today. Besides dat boaf songs kinda about loneliness and looking for lub!

@patchdacat
The singer of last week’s winning linky , Suzanne Vega, was part of the folk-music revival of the early 1980s . As my linky I choose “Suzanne” written & performed by Canadian poet, novelist & singer / song writer Leonard Cohen - a folk legend himself .

@kelsoterrier
Very tricky one this week. Couldn't think of any link to Marlene on The Wall but one of Suzanne Vega's other songs, and one of her biggest hits, was Luka. Luka was different than most pop songs of the time because it dealt with the difficult issue of child abuse. A few years later Aerosmith also released a song dealing with this subject called Janie's Got A Gun which was a worldwide hit with the song winning a Grammy and the video an MTV award. Not a nice subject to link two songs but raising awareness of the problem is no bad thing.

@rosieterrier
What a lovely choice for last weeks chain. Suzanne Vega also sung 'Undertow'- this do be the name of a Genesis song too. Mike Rutherford was in Genisis and then Mike and the Mechanics. They sang 'Silent Runnin'. This do be a film. In the soundtrack Ms Joni Mitchell sung. My chainy (finally) iz...... 'Both Sides Now' by Joni Mitchell coz it do be our favourite saddest song.

@rettetkaninchen
Manic Monday by The Bangles. Why? Suzanna Vega was married to Mitchell Froom who produced also the great Bangles. Manic Monday is the best Monday song ever. xxxxx =:X)

@borderpup
This week we choose 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' by Green Day, because 'Marlene on the Wall' is inspired by a picture .. er ... on the wall!! "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" is apparently a famous painting by Gottfried Helnwein depicting Marilyn Monroe, Humphrey Bogart, James Dean and Elvis Presley hanging out in a bar. Helnwein's painting is a parody of a painting called "Nighthawks" by Edward Hopper.

@marleyterrier
my chain this week do be one of the werst songs and most execrable performinces of all time.. but i fink......if The Hoff can bring down the Berlin Wall then someone ave to gib him credit for it.....

@bunnersandharvs
So den well don to Briar on last week's selecshun. Whew is cleva buch of paws out der but afta sum paw scratchin and snoopin online dis week da selcshun do be KT Tunstall - Suddenly I See. Why? Well KT did do dis songy wong in honour of Patti Smith who did do inspire her and Patti was da one which wot did inspire Suzanne Vega. And well dis did get the old brain cells going & we thort hey dat dus be similar to wot Suzy did wid da Marlene so dat do be da linky woo dis week.

@diamondbertie
Why Marlene on the Wall was about loneliness and no love, The song Delilah is about erotic shadows of betrayal on the wall. My link is Delilah by Tom Jones.

@djladylexie
My song is I'm Ok by Christina Aguilera. It is a song about abuse like the song Luca by Suzanne Vega.

The winner of the 61st #lexieschain as chosen by @wonderwinger dus be .......... @rosieterrier wiv Joni Mitchell and Both Sides Now. A lovely choice and a wonderful song. Briar telled me she chose it in honour of @HighlandHamish. The thought of him in the clouds with a feather cannon made me smile & then burst into tears. RIP dear Hamish we will miss you an dedicate this chain to your memory.

Anyway is time again get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you Rosie!! Yay!

So, it's over to you! Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until noon (GMT) Sunday 11 March 2012.
