Dad missed da hints to select Techno or Dance music last week otherwise he'd have selected Underworld. Anyways on to da finkin fer dis week's linky, we looked at Scooter n thought dis is a noisy often irritatable form of transport as indeed is da Camel n dis made Dad's choice simple. It is a piece of music which has a Techno feel is defnitly Chill Out n also has a trance like quality because of its Middle Eastern n North African elements inlcuding the Oud. The music was composed, played n produced by the Spy From Cairo aka Zeb real name Moreno Visini who wuz raised in Italy n lives n works in New York as a club DJ n recording artist. Dad luvs da way he blends modern electronic music wiv traditional chants n instruments, so here's our linky da beautifully hauntin "Ride My Camel" by Spy From Cairo.

(The Logical Song) by Scooter. (To me great surprise me did like it!) Still, it ravver loosely based on da Logical Song by Supertramp and does use some ob da lyrics from dat great song which in itself could be a link. But me not chose da easy link ob Supertramp’s Logical Song- NO! Me does fink about da lyrics dey does quote and da rest ob Roger Hodgson’s lyrics including da great line “The questions run too deep for such a simple man...” So me chose “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Looking for a Eurovision themed entry linking to Scooter was a bit tricky, but then I thought I know I'll whip off the -ter replace them with a -ch. What have we got? Only SCOOCH! Yes that's right Scooch who were the UK Eurovision entry in 2007 with "Flying The Flag (For You)". Of course, to scooch means to scoot over and some urban dictionaries state it comes from "scoot your tush" as in to very quickly move your bottom a tiny bit.

Hello Miss Lexie…I am very sorry I did not have a chance to pawticipate in last week's Chain….someone *ahem* was off on a boy's weekend abroad….anyhoo, we saw that mr Kelso was the winner last week with Ramp! by Scooter. In this house, scooters are not German techno nerds but a way of travelling…that's right, we are talking about scooters and mopeds and motorbikes…so this week our link is "Unknown Legend" by Neil Young…the chorus says

Quadrophenia of course (errr think it was the only mod movie!!). Famous for his role in the movie was Phil Daniels playing Jimmy, a mod who has an awesome Lambretta scooter. Me hab a quandry dis week to picky mines linky cuz me gots two excellent choices and not knows which one to submit, but me at last decides on dis one. We knows @maggietkat (yay! welcome back!) did win wif "Shake a Tail Feather" as sung by Ray Charles and the Blues Brothers in da 1980 Blues Brothers moobie. Da original "Shake a Tail Feather" was sung by The Five Du-Tones in 1963 and dey was a Chicago blues band like da Blues Brothers. Me does choose da original version ob anuvver song featured in da Blues Brothers moobie. Dis group was formed in dat same year (1963), but far away from da Chicago blues scene. One ob my ancestors (well, dat is, he is Welsh) formed dis band and dey released dis song in 1966. Dis is da Spencer Davis Group wif “Gimme Some Lovin'”. (You got to hear Steve Winwood and dat Hammond organ wail! Woof-hoo!)

Last week's winner" Shake a Tail Feather" sung by Ray Charles and the Blues Brothers in 1980, was a cracking song, humum is still boogieing around the house! Since then I've been applying my doggy brain to fink of my linky.

The song calls for peoples to do a variety of dances which were popular in the 1960s, the mashed potato, the bony morony and the boogaloo, but one dance caught my eye .... the frug.What the dog is that??? According to the boffins, the Frug was a dance craze from the 1960s that evolved from another dance of the era, the Chicken. In other words, it's a dance which doesn't involve much leg movement but lots of waving the arms about. Humans are truly weird!!!

Appawrently a perfect example of a Frug is found in the movie Sweet Charity, but this is a song linky chain, not a movie one. So instead I gives you "Rain on Your Parade" by Duffy as the video also features this dance.

Hurrah for Maggie giving us the superb Blues Brothers with Shake a Tail Feather. The Blues Brothers first single was the Sam & Dave 1967 song: Soul Man. This song was also covered by Lou Reed with Sam Moore for the comedy film: Soul Man.
Lou Reed was best known as the frontman for The Velvet Underground. Their first single & my linky was All Tomorrow's Parties.

ohhh, I liked the dancy link last week and what a great video. Dancing and shaking (a tail feather) immediately brought to mind the dance craze sweeping the globe just now wot be The Harlem Shake. Some very funny videos on YouTube with people jumping about crazy doing the Harlem Shake like they're on fire & trying to put it out. So how about a very famous and talented singer from Harlem for my link? What about Alicia Keys singing Girl On Fire wot is what some of them Harlem Shakers looked like they were? Ok then, go on, that's my link.

Simon did graduate from college with a degree in English. As did Roberta Flack who taught English & music in Washing, D.C. for many years. Miss Roberta covered " A Bridge Over Troubled Waters " written by Paul Simon. My link suggestion this week for Lexieschain is "Killing Me Softly" by Roberta Flack.

Hi Lexie another week gone in a flash. So Clapton chose The Sound of Silence by Paul Simon and there were two worthy winners. My link is based on the word sound and the name Paul. The Jam were one of my fave bands when younger. They were led of course by Paul Weller. The last album they released was Sound Effects. So I have chosen from that album the song That's Entertainment which is what we get from all our Twitter pals. There you go.

Last week's pick was Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel. Some have said that Paul Simon wrote that song about the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Empty Garden (Hey Hey Johnny) was written by Bernie Taupin and Elton John as a tribute to John Lennon, who was also assassinated. In addition, when I listen to both songs they seem to have a similar theme of loss, sadness, emptiness.

Last week was sounds of silence. Hmm ok let me fink. In the song we hear the lyrics people talking without speaking, people hearing without listening. So, to me, it means you can say so much without saying anything at all. In fact, you can sometimes enjoy the silence. Oh, what's that? Words are very unnecessary, they can only do harm - enjoy the silence! Why what a great linky - it's Depeche Mode of course and Enjoy The Silence.

Last week we had an iconic song from the 60's with The Sound of Silence. This week my choice it's another iconic song from the same era. The Sound of Silence is a funny title that makes you think because, of course, silence had no sound. Another song title that makes you think is A Whiter Shade of Pale which, again, you can't really get..can you? See, even I'm confused. So my choice this week is the epic Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum.

Wow, this is a difficult one! We did read that Mr Bob Dylan did add electric instruments and drums to Sounds of Silence wivout Simon & Garfunkel’s permission and we did wonder wot other songs had been added to like dat. Mum did then have a brainwave – well it would have been one if it had been correct! She always fort that the strings and stuff on True Love Ways by Buddy Holly had been added after he died, but according to the interwebnet fing, he recorded it wiv the orchestra. Simon and Garfunkel did aspire to imitate da harmony ob da Everly Brothers. Paul Simon did write Sounds of Silence and Phil and Don Everly did write Cathy’s Clown. Da Everly Brothers also sang backing vocals on da title track from da Graceland album wif Paul Simon. Dey was also da featured act for Simon & Garfunkle’s Old Friends Reunion Tour. I been thinkin that Paul Simon did make da album most brilliant called Graceland. Graceland as we all know is howse dat Elvis da pelvis Presley did live in. Elvis did have first film role in King Creole in 1958, dis was based on Harold Robbins book called..... A stone for Danny Fisher. Hello Miss Lexie, last week the very wise judge chose the Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel…..we listened to it closely and we are pretty sure it was not the sound of silence and was actually quite noisy all the way through…so this week our choice is 4'33 by John Cage….its only the sound of silence for 4 minutes and 33 seconds…..

Congratulations to the two Bs: Baxter and Bertie on their lovely song choice Sounds of Silence. My linky shall be The Winner Takes It All by Abba. Why? Well, because Anni-Frid Lyngstad made a cover-version of Sounds of Silence in Swedish before joining Abba. Sounds of Silence was written about the despair people felt after the JFK assassination, The Winner Takes it All also deals with heartache but in the aftermath of a divorce. Different inspirations but both magnificent songs.

You chose a song by Neil Sedaka. His father, Mac Sedaka, was a taxi driver . Joni Mitchell wrote a song called Big yellow Taxi…which we like very much…and that was eventually covered by Counting Crows and Vanessa Carlton. The Counting Crows wrote a very lovely song called Mr Jones….so that is our link this week…and here is the video (complete with Spanish subtitles!!

Da links for Neil Sedaka are legion. He was prolific songwriter, who wrote for and performed wif so many ob da popular artists. He also hab a cousin who bery talented performer as well, so me does fink dat be good linky. Da hard part is deciding which song... an den me sees dat she recorded one ob Neil Sedaka’s most well known songs “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do”. Me listen to dis and fink it like a whole nother song when she do it but it still bery good, so linky dis week is Ms. Eydie Gorme wif “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do”.

Dis week we have to link to 'Oh Carol', which was written by Neil Sedaka. He and Carol King were both songwriters in the famous Brill Building in New Yoik, where lots of other songwriters and music publishers did have there offices. One of the other songwriters there was Burt Bacharach and he wrote lots of hits, including 'The Look of Love' which was a hit for our very own Dusty Springfield (it is also another love song!).

Last week we had Carol by Neil Sedaka. For my link this week I am going for another song with a girl's name in it by another Neil. This other Neil, as chance would have it, also went to the same school as Neil Sedaka (albeit a couple of years later) which was Lincoln High in Brooklyn. The song is Sweet Caroline and the singer is Neil Diamond.
