Dis week me submit "Doctor My Eyes" by Jackson Browne. Why? Cuz dey boff ‘bout Doctors sorta (boff singers is addressing da Doctor) & hab Doctor in title & chorus. Mostly cuz we lub dis song! bol So dat da link & dat me pick!

taylor from duran duran. at around the same time, the other members of dd -
simon la bon bon, nick rhodes & roger taylor (the drummer from dd, not the
drummer from queen!) formed 'arcadia' and their best track (i think) is 'the
promise'.

Lowell George was featured on several of the early Robert Palmer albums, and they included songs penned by George such as Sailing Shoes. George died about the same year that "Bad Case of Loving You" was recorded. This album Down on the Farm by Little Feat which featured George was also released the same year. "Kokomo" describes the love a man has for a woman.

Ok, here ma finkin. Song Iz Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor Doctor). Doctors are considered saints and so are Utah (as in Utah Saints). Like Robert Palmer Utah Saints are also from Yorkshire. Also if u have a bad case ov loving someone then this is something good :-) So my linky is Utah Saints wif Something Good '08. I dus luv dis video ;-)

Doctor Pressure by Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine. Robert Palmer's song has da words 'doctor, doctor' give me da news, I gots a bad case of lubbin you' an den Doctor Pressure says can you give me somfink for da beat! So dat is ma linky – doctors givin people fings to cure em! heehee.

Travelling Wilburys - Handle with care. Robert Palmer was a member of super group The Power Station in the 80's and the Travelling Wilburys were another super group also formed in the 80's (a better one!)

Dis week me cleverly links back to music me knows ;-) Me submit for your consideration da great Neil Young wif "Rockin' in the Free World"! Why? Cuz Queens of the Stone Age will be performing wif Pearl Jam dis Sept 3rd and 4th at Alpine Valley Music Theater and Pearl Jam recorded wif Neil Young (on album Mirror Ball), covered his song "Rockin' in the Free World", and hab eben performed it wif Neil Young. So dat da link! Neil Young wif "Rockin' in the Free World"

Eyes of green by Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan. This song is a collaboration between former Queens of the stone age singer, Mark Lanegan and former member of Glasgow band Belle and Sebastian, Isobel Campbell.

Sex on Fire by Kings of Leon. The QOTSA were going to call themselves Kings of the Stone Age but changed their minds as they didn't want to seem too macho. If they had stayed as Kings of the Stone Age they would have been one of three bands with the title Kings in their band name so I chose another band with Kings in the title – Kings of Leon – hence Sex on Fire!

Sweet Little Mystery by Wet Wet Wet. Another song by Travis is Why does it always rain on me? If it does always rain on you, then you wil get very wet wet wet! Typical Scottish weather and of course both bands are from Scotland!

Sick Sick Sick by Queens Of The Stone Age. Why? Travis and QOTSA started with their bands in 1996. Both without a bass player in the beginning. And both videos contain great feasts.

also from 1967, bobbie gentry - ode to billie joe (goosebump time). she & glen campbell made an album together in '68.

My selection is "Time after time" as recorded by Miles Davis. John Hartford who wrote "Gentle on my mind" grew up in st. Louis as did Miles. Although Miles and John aren't contemporaries, they are obviously influenced by the musicians that are attracted to the cities along the Great Muddy Mississippi River. Both tunes have great melodies and lyrics which speak of love.

This week's chain (already so I dussnt forget) is Rocket Man by Elton John. Glen Campbell play on Pet Sounds...by da Beach Boys. Leon Russell also played piano on that record and Leon just released new album of dooets wiv Elton....leadin to Rocket...Man which we nommynate in honour of last Space shuttle flight takin place right now!!

Dis week me submit "I Would Not Be Here" by John Hartford. Why? Cuz "Gentle on My Mind" which Glen Campbell did was written (and recorded) by John Hartford and he did dis one too. Besides it makes mom laugh. So dat da link & dat me pick!

Coz Glen Campell's middle name iz Travis and because hiz version of Sing by Travis woz included on da cover album he released In 1998 entitled 'Meet Glen Campbell'. And coz I trying to get out ov da 50's and 60's and back into my comfort zone ov 80's onwards ;-)

a last minute link...James Dean Bradfield - An English Gentleman. Just cos the name made me think of this song!

Choice is This Ole House by Shakin' Stevens. Coz This Old House woz annuver hit on Jimmy Deans album.

A contemporary of Jimmy Dean was Tennessee Ernie Ford. his song "sixteen tons" is also about coal mines describings the problems wiht being an employee of the mines - you had to buy all your provisions from the company store which marked up goods considerably. you paid the store by having your wages garnished. I also have a thing men who can reach really low notes.

The Second thing I recall is Rowlff the Dawg, the muppet ever seen, on the Jimmy Dean Show. I used to watch the Jimmy Dean show just for Rowlff. the rest of the show was for country loving adults. I disliked country music. So, Rowlff has an album, Ol' Brown Ears Is Back. My choice on that is "A New York State of Mind".

Dis week me pick is "Bad, Bad, Leroy Brown" by Jim Croce. Why? cuz it about a big bad man too and da singer/songwriter also named Jim!

I thought long and hard about the link to Big John, really difficult, a haunting song with good lyrics and catchy tune. Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash, why Big John was enigmatic and a brave hero, the lyrics of Ring of Fire are heroic, and Johnny Cash gives me the tenuous link "john".

Courtney Pine – Chldren of the Ghetto. Courtney Pine like CC is a soprano sax player so we chose dis song because he plays da same sax as CC on dis one.

Dis week me is going in a different direction wif a weird one. Me pick is "Big Bad John" by Jimmy Dean. How you get dat? me hears you cry... Well, Bruce Springsteen did "Sandy" wif da E Street Band.

Da sax player for da E Street Band was Clarence Clemons aka "The Big Man" ( who did die recently). Jimmy Dean did Big Bad John about another Big Man (who died in da song) & Jimmy Dean died last year So dat da link - picked in memory ob big men in music. Dey big bof in stature and influence an dey was good men!

The name 'Sandy' immediately made mum fink of Sandy Denny (who had a lovely voice btw) and early on in her career sang wiv The Strawbs. So we did decide to choose a later Strawbs song, 'A Glimpse of Heaven', wot was recorded when Rick Wakeman were a lad!

Edge of Glory by Lady GaGa. Cos Clarence Clemons the saxophone player who sadly died on 18th June he played on this song and had played with Bruce Springsteen and his band for many years.
