Lexie's Chain: The Thirty-Fourth Chain

Hello pals.! Welcome to Week 34 of #lexieschain. I dus hope you still be enjoyin da game! Dis week was down to me to make da decishun. So, now let's see wot ideas come in dis week:

@djladylexie
The Shamen - Ebeneezer Goode Is song bout drugs but they pretending it ain't is about E excstacy! E¹s Are Good was a song disapproved of coz it did promote da use of drugs

@borderpup
Cocaine by JJ Cale, because I dint have much time to fink, it has a drug in da title, but it is an anti-drug song. Ahem, must try harder!!

@diamondbertie
ere is one for your link: Perry Como - Delaware - why it's so funny and clever there MUST be a link there somewhere!

@kelosterrier
My entry dis week is Divinyls wif I Touch Myself. Why? Coz Divinyls covered Love is the Drug by Roxy Music and coz the song is about loving someone a lot (or err, maybe lusting after someone a lot but dat wudn't help da link ;-)).

@terenceterrier
My entry for chain is "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" by Lennon /McCartney because shortly after the song's release in 1967 speculation arose that the first letter of each of the title's nouns intentionally spelled LSD. In a 2004 interview, Paul McCartney admitted that the song is obviously about LSD. So there is a ³drug² connection between the two songs. Also this record is on the album Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band so also a connection between ³Love² and ³ Lonely Hearts Club² because people looking for love will join a dating agency which is known as a Lonely Hearts Club.

@i_am_fuzzy
When i saw 'love is the drug' i immediately thought of fuzzbox (or we've got a fuzzbox & we're gonna to use it (!!)) and their wonderful song 'love is the slug'..........................no
chance!! heehee!!

@bunnersandharvs
wEE duS feeW da liNky dis weeK is: U2 wit ore wiT oowt cHOOz. hARvs dus saYZ dey wus posT-puNk (hrRMM...) n hE saYz whICh dus flOW on frUm dA rOxy tyPes o mooSic. @rossi_dog
Mum has been racking her brains (did not take long) to try and think  of a good & witty link in chain after Roxy Music, but we have drawn a blank (quel suprise as les chiens say). What if Bryan Ferry was wrong (unlikely says Mum) that Love is the Drug and in fact Love Is In The  Air, sung by Rupert Everett and Colin Firth at the end of St Trinians Film. The connection is a bit lame, but the song should make everyone smile!

An da winner .... as chosen by Zoe ... dus be ....... oh hang on wait a minit! Ere dus be wot Zoe said:

"Ok I had a LOT of trouble, I fink des entries do keep getting better
every week!!! My TWO top choices were (a) @kelsoterrier an (b) @bunnersandharvs BUT if we can't have a tie (we can't sorry Zoe!!) I dus fink I has to go wiv B. just very slightly over A. But very slightly!! xxxx"

... an da winner dus be  ....  @bunnersandharvs!! Yay!! Well done ma pals! So, is time again get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you .... Bunners an Harvs!

Lexie's Chain: The Thirty-Third Chain

Hello pals.! Welcome to Week 33 of #lexieschain. I dus hope you still be enjoyin da game! Dis week was down to me to make da decishun. So, now let's see wot ideas come in dis week:

@bunnersandharvs (so funny!!)
We dus foller da rose cunneshiion and went wif 'moses supposes' frum 'Singin in da Rain' dey is happer dan dA sung last weeK sooz we fowt it wul be niCe ta go wit haPPy toone. it dus maKe mUm giggLe too cawz dey is so appy an dey'z paw r boozy tapin tOO.

@mangotoo
Start Wild rode Nick cave. After listening to this Nick was inspired to write about another murder ballad Down in the Willow garden. He recorded this Ballad as "the ballad of Robert Moore & Betty Coltrane." Which was about him murderin her. Yuk!

Anyways Robert Moore was a chap who recorded a song "Everythings Gonna be alright" but also recorded by the funny sounding Teegarden & Van Winkle (1971). Rip van winkle did like sleeps and this is a song about him! The end!!

@tartan_terriers
Great Southern Land by Icehouse. Cos they are australian, so are Nick Cave and Kylie...they also used to be known as Flowers (pre 1981) and a rose is a flower!

@marleyterrier (by satellite phone from da deep desert!)
Ere is my link for da chain this week. Is "Call Me" by Blondie. Lady in the song you dun chose was called Elisa Day and she was ...ahem...a werkin girl. Call Me is also bout werkin girl and was featured in fillum called American Gigolo wot be bout a werkin boy!!

@rossi_dog
That's Not My Name by the Ting Tings because poor girl in Wild Rose is not being called her proper name either. (Like my mum who sometimes calls me by my human sisters name BOL).

@I_am_fuzzy
the wild roses grew down the river - where you find a lot of fish, which is the name of the singer in marillion (it's probably not his real name). i choose their 1985 hit 'kayleigh' .......and kayleigh is scottish for kylie!! maybe.....ahem

@border_pup
Dis week I had to ask mum for some help, cos she is very old ;o). She says that grandma used to like a perfume called 'To a Wild Rose' wot was made by Avon (and she was a Avon laydee!). Now they has a tv advert wot dus have music in background called 'The Adventures of Pippi Longstrump' by Fear of Tigers (an we do admit we found it fru search engine!).

@zoetheborder
My entry dis week dus be "Love is the Drug" by Roxy Music. Roxy Music dus be linked to Nick Cave because his first band "The Birthday Party" did used to perform covers of der songs. It links to Kylie Minogue because she did do a cover version in 2007. Da fird link dus be dat Nick Cave an Bryan Ferry did bof appear on a compalayshun album of pirate songs wot be called "Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys". And dat also dus link to last week's winna, DJ Lady Lexie, because she dus haf a ship!

@kelsoterrier
My link to Where The Wild Roses Grow iz "Used To Love Her" by Guns n' Roses. Why? Firstly because ov the Roses link and secondly coz it iz also a song about a man killing hiz girlfriend (in a humorous light hearted way ;-)).

An da winner .... as chosen by me ... dus be ....... oh it's so ard ... they is all brilliant ... but I gonna go wiv .... Zoe The Border wiv Love Is The Drug! Well done ma Hanibelle sista!

Pals, is time again get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you .... Zoe! An close second is moses supposes wot really made us larf so much!

So, it's over to you! Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until noon (GMT) Sunday 28 August 2011. Lexie's Chain: The Thirty-Second Chain

Hello pals.! Welcome to Week 32 of #lexieschain. I dus hope you still be enjoyin da game!  Dis week was down to @I_Am_Fuzzy to make da decishun. Fuzzy arksed me not to tell im who made da suggeschuns so he ad no clue who was who! So, now let's see wot ideas come in dis week:

@kelsoterrier
Song by Arcadia makes me fink of early 80's computer game ov same name. Game woz a space invaders type fingy where u had to shoot down da nasty alien invaders. U found urself shouting "invaders must die" at screen when u got a bit carried away ;-) Which leads me nicely to my linky of Invaders Must Die by da Prodigy.

@border_pup
I choose 'Things Can Only Get Better' by D:Ream. Why? Because Arcadia also had a hit wiv Election Day, and "Things Can Only Get Better' was the Labour Party feme toon for the General Election in 1997.

@BunnersAndHarvs
Hidy pal! r seelecshion iz wish yOO wuz HERE - he dus tawk bowt hevn & hewl & he wuz playun geetar on da promise.

@zoetheborder
Desert Rose by Sting. Is for a few reesuns, one b/c I dus rilly like it. Two b/c he did sing backup on last week's winning song, "The Promise". Third b/c the name of Arcadia's album is "So Red the Rose". An I did used to lif in da desert!!!!! So I fink you can see der be so manee reesuns for picking dis song.

@djladylexie
The Promise – was on the album So The Red Rose. I choose The Wild Rose by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds n Kylie Minogue. Coz of da rose connection. He takes her down to the river where the wild red roses grow den kills her there because she is too beautiful to live.

@tartan_terriers
Hazel O'Connor - Will You as the members of Arcadia are from Duran Duran, we went back to the bands early days for this one...the band were a support act on Hazel O'Conner's 1980 tour. Good tune!!!

An da winner ... as chosen by Fuzzy is ... DJ Lady Lexie (dat is me!!) Woofhoo wiv The Wild Rose.

Pals, is time again get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you .... err .. me!!! ha-ha.

Lexie's Chain: The Thirty-First Chain

Hello pals.! Welcome to Week 31of #lexieschain. Wow week 31!! I dus hope you still be enjoyin da game!

Dis week was down to @zoetheborder to make da decishun. So, now let's see wot ideas come in dis week:

@bvfeyj (aka Tucker)
Dis week me submit "Doctor My Eyes" by Jackson Browne. Why? Cuz dey boff ‘bout Doctors sorta (boff singers is addressing da Doctor) & hab Doctor in title & chorus. Mostly cuz we lub dis song! bol So dat da link & dat me pick!

@I_Am_Fuzzy
in the 1980's robert palmer was in the band 'power station' with john and andy
taylor from duran duran. at around the same time, the other members of dd -
simon la bon bon, nick rhodes & roger taylor (the drummer from dd, not the
drummer from queen!) formed 'arcadia' and their best track (i think) is 'the
promise'.

@MaggieTKat
Lowell George was featured on several of the early Robert Palmer albums, and they included songs penned by George such as Sailing Shoes. George died about the same year that "Bad Case of Loving You" was recorded. This album Down on the Farm by Little Feat which featured George was also released the same year. "Kokomo" describes the love a man has for a woman.

@Kelsoterrier
Ok, here ma finkin. Song Iz Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor Doctor). Doctors are considered saints and so are Utah (as in Utah Saints). Like Robert Palmer Utah Saints are also from Yorkshire. Also if u have a bad case ov loving someone then this is something good :-) So my linky is Utah Saints wif Something Good '08. I dus luv dis video ;-)

@DJLadyLexie
Doctor Pressure by Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine. Robert Palmer's song has da words 'doctor, doctor' give me da news, I gots a bad case of lubbin you' an den Doctor Pressure says can you give me somfink for da beat! So dat is ma linky – doctors givin people fings to cure em! heehee.

@Tartan_Terriers
Travelling Wilburys - Handle with care. Robert Palmer was a member of super group The Power Station in the 80's and the Travelling Wilburys were another super group also formed in the 80's (a better one!)

An da winner as selected by @zoetheborder dus be @I_Am_Fuzzy. Yay! Well done ma pal! Brilliant linky! Ere dus be wot Zoe said bout it: Oh dat was a rilly tough choice, so many great answers! I dus fink I has to go wiv Fuzzy - such good linkies! But Kelso was a very close second.

THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME PLAY AN HELP SELECT DA WINNER. Everyone wins wiv Lexie's Chain, b/c it is fun fun fun!
Pals, is time again get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you Fuzzy!

Lexie's Chain: The Thirtieth Chain

Hello pals.! Welcome to Week 30 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to @rettetkaninchen to make da decishun. Let's see wot ideas come in dis week:

@bvfeyj
Dis week me cleverly links back to music me knows ;-) Me submit for your consideration da great Neil Young wif "Rockin' in the Free World"! Why? Cuz Queens of the Stone Age will be performing wif Pearl Jam dis Sept 3rd and 4th at Alpine Valley Music Theater and Pearl Jam recorded wif Neil Young (on album Mirror Ball), covered his song "Rockin' in the Free World", and hab eben performed it wif Neil Young. So dat da link! Neil Young wif "Rockin' in the Free World"

@kelsoterrier
My linky dis week is I Want You So Hard (Boy's Bad News) by Eagles of Death Metal. Why? Because Josh Homme was the founding member of both the QOTSA and EODM and dis is my favourite song from dat group and it haz a great video wif Jack Black & Dave Grohl in it ;-).

@zoetheborder
Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor Doctor)" by Robert Palmer. Dis b b/c wen you is Sick Sick Sick you dus need a Dr. Also...his las name has Palm in it an QOTSA dus be considered part of da Palm Desert music scene. So is linked two ways!

@tartan_terriers
Eyes of green by Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan. This song is a collaboration between former Queens of the stone age singer, Mark Lanegan and former member of Glasgow band Belle and Sebastian, Isobel Campbell.

@djladylexie
Sex on Fire by Kings of Leon. The QOTSA were going to call themselves Kings of the Stone Age but changed their minds as they didn't want to seem too macho. If they had stayed as Kings of the Stone Age they would have been one of three bands with the title Kings in their band name so I chose another band with Kings in the title – Kings of Leon – hence Sex on Fire!

An da winner as selected by @rettetkaninchen(aka Miriam an bunnies) dus be ...... @Zoetheborder. Yay! Well done! Brilliant linky! Miriam said: It's a funny deduction from QOTSA song to Robert Palmer and linked two ways. Well done, Zoe! =:X)

Pals, is time again get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you @zoetheborder.

So, it's over to you! Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until noon (GMT) Sunday 7 August 2011. Lexie's Chain: The Twenty-Ninth Chain

Hello pals.! Welcome to Week 29 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to @kelsoterrier to make da decishun.

Kelso also had brilliant idea of addin linkies to da different songs so we can enjoy dem all and expand our moosical horizons, so that wots I dun! Let me know wot you dus fink of da new format!

Let's see wot ideas come in dis week:

@tartan_terriers
Sweet Little Mystery by Wet Wet Wet. Another song by Travis is Why does it always rain on me? If it does always rain on you, then you wil get very wet wet wet! Typical Scottish weather and of course both bands are from Scotland!

@rettetkaninchen
Sick Sick Sick by Queens Of The Stone Age. Why? Travis and QOTSA started with their bands in 1996. Both without a bass player in the beginning. And both videos contain great feasts.

@bvfeyj
Dis week me submit "Invisible Touch" by Genesis. Why? Cuz "Sing" by Travis was from da album called "The Invisible Band". So dat da link & dat me pick!

@I Am Fuzzy
from travis - sing, i go to the prison sing sing that holly golightly visited in the filum 'breakfast at tiffany's' which is also a song by deep blue something

@kelsoterrier
My entry is Whistle for the Choir by The Fratellis http://goo.gl/eyOXU. Why? Because The Fratellis are also from Glasgow and whistling is kind of like singing (sing by Travis, get it?). Even tho I might not choose my own link *HeeHee* I thought sum people might like to hear them anyway ;-)

@djladylexie
I chosen da song How To Be Invisible by Kate Bush from da album Aerial. Why? Sing was on album called The Invisible Band and annuva lady wot is very famus but good at bein invisible dus be Kate Bush and she mum's favourite lady singer of all time!

An da winner as selected by @kelsoterrier dus be ........ @rettetkaninchen. Yay! Well done Miriam and Bunnies! Brilliant linky!

Pals, is time again get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you @rettetkaninchen.

So, it's over to you! Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until noon (GMT) Sunday 31 July 2011. Lexie's Chain: The Twenty-Eighth Chain

Hello pals.! Welcome to Week 28 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to Tucker to make da decishun, so let's see wot ideas come in dis week:

@I_am_fuzzy
also from 1967, bobbie gentry - ode to billie joe (goosebump time). she & glen campbell made an album together in '68.

@maggietkat
My selection is "Time after time" as recorded by Miles Davis. John Hartford who wrote "Gentle on my mind" grew up in st. Louis as did Miles. Although Miles and John aren't contemporaries, they are obviously influenced by the musicians that are attracted to the cities along the Great Muddy Mississippi River. Both tunes have great melodies and lyrics which speak of love.

@marleyterrier
This week's chain (already so I dussnt forget) is Rocket Man by Elton John. Glen Campbell play on Pet Sounds...by da Beach Boys. Leon Russell also played piano on that record and Leon just released new album of dooets wiv Elton....leadin to Rocket...Man which we nommynate in honour of last Space shuttle flight takin place right now!!

@bvfeyj
Dis week me submit "I Would Not Be Here" by John Hartford. Why? Cuz "Gentle on My Mind" which Glen Campbell did was written (and recorded) by John Hartford and he did dis one too. Besides it makes mom laugh. So dat da link & dat me pick!
@kelsoterrier
My linky song dis week iz Sing by Travis. Why? Coz Glen Campell's middle name iz Travis and because hiz version of Sing by Travis woz included on da cover album he released In 1998 entitled 'Meet Glen Campbell'. And coz I trying to get out ov da 50's and 60's and back into my comfort zone ov 80's onwards ;-)

@diamondbertie
This week's link, my choice is Annie's Song, sung by Placido Domingo. Why? he did an album with John Denver called Perhaps Love, the song is in a similar genre.

@djladylexie
My selection dus be Linda Ronstadt wiv Long Long Time wot she sung on Glen Campbell's Goodtime Hour in 1970's.

Ere dus be wot Tucker said: "Me concatulations on all da fine entries. You is all winners in me book, but like da "Highlander" say... "There can be only one" so wifout further ado, dis week da winner is... Kelso wiv Sing by Travis! YAY! Good job, eberypaw!"

The song: Sing
The year: 2001
The artist: Travis

Pals, is time again get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you @kelsoterrier.
