Lexie's Chain: The Eighty-First Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 81 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to Tucker to choose. Last time was The Who and I Can See For Miles. Let's see wot happened this week!

@marleyterrier
My linky this week did be inspired by the "miles" in Tucker's choice from last week. We did be spending the last few weeks watching cyclists goin miles and miles round France on their bikes and of corse we did be very appy to see Bradley Wiggins winnin. We know that Bradlee do be a bit of a mod and one of his favrit bands do be The Jam so we did be chosen "In The City" by the Jam cos this week we will be avin Bradlee and all the other cyclists in London for the Olympics and London be our city.

@diamondbertie
Here I am, having another try, last weeks' winner was The Who with Miles and Miles. My choice is Barbara Streisand's On a Clear Day You can See For Ever. Why? If you listen to the songs the words do their own linking.

@terenceterrier
Last week’s winner was The Who and “I can see for miles”. If you were looking up into space you would be able to see even further – indeed light miles away so my linky be “The Galaxy Song” by Monty Python.

@djladylexie
Well great linky wif The Who and I Can See For Miles and Miles … now dat song, in case you never knowed, is about the fact that the man is sayin he can see even tho he is a long way away that the woman he loves does be cheatin and runnin round wiv uvva mens. I wonder if her name was Sue? Coz you know, she ran around wiv every single guy in town. I chooses Dion and The Belmonts wiv Runaround Sue .. Better keep away from her!

@patchdacat
The winning linky was “I can see for miles” by The Who. If you woz on dis spaceship you would see for miles. This song woz used on the soundtrack for the film Apollo 13. Annuver song used on the soundtrack woz “Dark Side of the Moon” which was sung by Annie Lennox but I goes for the original version by Pink Floyd as my linky choice.

@kelsoterrier
Last week we had The Who with I can See For Miles. I do know that this song featured on the soundtrack for the Apollo 13 film and to be able to hav seen this spaceship on its way to the moon you would have needed a very strong telescope! Once you had this you wold then need to put our eye to the Telescope which, as chance would have it, is the title of an album by the excellent K T Tunstall. On her "Eye to the Telescope" album the best song, and my link this week, is called "Suddenly I see". So she gets the telescope, puts it to her and and suddenly she can see for miles and miles.....maybe far enough to see spaceships!

@borderpup
Dis week we choose Park Life by Blur. Why? Cos The Who did write Quadrophenia, wot was made into a fillum starring Phil Daniels (we won't give away the ending here, but it woz dramatic!). He did later on do the talky bits on Park Life and woz in the video.

@wonderwinger
Well done Tucker on a super win last week; the godfather of lexieschain producing a brilliant link from the godfathers of rock: The Who & their I Can See For Miles. After the death of Keith Moon, drums for The Who were played by Kenney Jones. Kenney Jones had originally been in the band the Small Faces, which became The Faces after the addition of the taller pair of Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart and the subtraction of the smaller Steve Marriott.

My link shall be their last single: You Can Make Me Dance, Sing or Anything (Even Take the Dog for a Walk, Mend a Fuse, Fold Away the Ironing Board or any Other Domestic Shortcomings). Phew! This title is a "mile" long and indeed holds the record for longest song title in the Uk Single Chart.

@bunnersandharvs
Well dun to da Tucker for winning da linky last week was a veree good transishun so I has been thinking wot way to go from da songy and my paws started tapping having a thort about all dem miles Roger had to go and it made me think about taking it easy. Hey, why not loosen da load, hee hee so i is going wid da songy 'Take it easy' by da Eagles.

An the winner dis week .... as chosen by @bvfeyj  ..... dus be  ........ @diamondbertie with Barbara Streisand and On A Clear Day. Yay!! Well done ma pal!

Lexie's Chain: The Eightieth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 80 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to Terence to choose. Last time was The Police with Every Breath You Take. Let's see wot happened this week!

@diamondbertie
Last week's choice was The Police, Every Breath You Take. This time I went for the "police" connection, It has to be Gilbert & Sullivan's "A Policeman's Lot is Not a Happy one.

@bvfeyj
Last week @terenceterrier did gib us a brilliant linky wif da great “Every Breath You Take” by The Police & me is finking if you is watching someone like dat... every breath, every smile, every step, it probly help if you like da Who & can see for miles, so dat is my linky!  The Who - I Can See For Miles.

@djladylexie
Ok I say dis: The Police with Every Breath You Take. I go for . But why? Well .. The police dus stop people drivin cars when they fink they might be drunk and they dus breffalise em. So Police > Breathe > Old Bill > Breffaliser Test > Don't Drink and Drive. So ma linky does be Janis Joplin and What Good Can Drinking Do.

@parkerSkat
The last winner was "Every Breath you Take" by the Police. The song came out in 1983 and was featured in a movie, Risky Business, although the song was not included on the soundtrack album. Who can forget young Tom Cruise doing air guitar in his tidy whities? My favorite song from the movie is "Mannish Boy" by Muddy Waters.

@patchdacat
Last week the winning linky was “Every Breathe You Take”. If you breathe in then you blow out. My linky is “Blowing in the Wind” by Bob Dylan.

@wonderwinger
From Every Breath You Take by The Police I have decided to link Rockwell's Somebody's Watching Me. This song is about being paranoid that you're being followed. Lots of people mistakenly think that The Police song is about love but really it has sinister undertones; Sting wrote it about obsession with a lost lover & the surveillance & jealousy that follows. Disturbingly, he was divorcing his first wife at the time.

@bunnersandharvs (Harvs)
Hmmm first of all *high paw* to Terr for da win agin! So den, I been thinking wot songy is a suffishunt linky to da policy man, Stingy's toon so I make it simples. And da paw tapper I has gone wid is 'All I Need Is The Air That I Breathe' by da The Hollies.

An the winner dis week .... as chosen by @terenceterrier  ..... dus be  ........ @bvfeyj (Tucker)  wiv The Who and Miles and Miles. Yay!! Well done Tucker ma pal!

Now is time to get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you Tucker.

It's over to you! Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until noon (GMT) Sunday 29 July 2012. Sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title!

Lexie's Chain: Special Edition for Lennox

Hello ma pals. We put #lexieschain  game on hold this week so we can dedicate this chain to dear Lennox who was put to sleep this week after a long battle with Belfast City Council by many dedicated fighters.

So Lennox, this is from your pals who know, even though your fight is sadly over, the battle for future dogs of BSL continues. RIP pal, rest well and know you were loved and supported all over the world.

@borristhedog
Never Forget - Take That

@borderpup
Ma choice for this week's speshul edishun is 'Where is the Love?' by The Black Eyed Peas. I chose it cos it is about soshul injustice of all kinds. Even if you don't like rap, I fink we can all understand da meaning. Da words that espeshully jumped out at us were: 'The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug ...'  We are all so sad and angry about wot has happened to the poor boy. RIP Lennox xxxxxxxxxx

@charlieatssocks
My triboot to Lennox is Bob Marley Get up Stand up stand up for your rights becos weez all tried to save Lennox and stand up for his right to live and for all other dogs subject to bsl xx

@indykitty
I think I will always love you by Dolly Parton/ Whitney houston is a good song for Lennox.

@wonderwinger
My song for Lennox is Carole King's You've Got A Friend. This for me sums up my dog-human relationship, one of total trust & loyalty. Through the #savelennox campaign, I hope Lennox's family realised they had friends all over the world who were outraged by the injustice being done to their four-legged friend & companion. Of course, the real sadness is that Lennox was not surrounded by friends at the end.

@djladylexie
For the last two years we've been watching, praying and hoping that Belfast City Council would do the right thing. We are so sorry Lennox and family. One day this will be a moment to look back on and see that you made a great change for future dogs at risk. RIP pal.

Lexie's Chain: The Seventy-Ninth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 79 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to Briar  to choose. Last week was it Ain't What You Do from Fun Boy Free (as in da number free dat is). Let's see wot happened this week!

@terenceterrier
Last week’s winning linky was by Fun Boy 3. Band member Terry Hall had been in new wave band The Specials. Specials are unpaid volunteer police officers. The Police woz annuver new wave band. So my linky be their No 1 hit “Every Breath You Take”.

@diamondbertie
My link for the chain, last week the winner was Fun Boy featuring Bananarama singing It Aint What You Do it's Way That You Do It, this song is so old sung by many artists among them Ella Fitzgerald and Cleo Laine. My choice is Cleo Laine singing Stormy Weather why that song out of her huge repertoire - simple a tribute to the rubbish weather we are enduring this summer.

Sorry - no video on youtube for dat

@bvfeyj (Tucker)
Ok, last week Briar did win wif "Ain't What You Do" By Fun Boy Three (and a bunch ob bananas or somefing)... Based on dat an what Briar did say... "3 6 9 the goose drank wine" me was tempted to link The Clapping Song by Shirley Ellis or anuvver counting song "I Feel Like I'm Fixing To Die Rag" by Country Joe and The Fish... BUT me decided dat since dey was drumming it into me head dat "It ain't what you do, it's the way that you do it" me would go wif "The Way You Do the Things You Do" by The (incomparable) Temptations. It eben hab a Robinson link since it was written for da Temps by anuvver great, Smokey Robinson. It also proved to be The Temptations first hit song, recorded a year before Shirley Ellis' The Clapping Song & da same year as her 1st hit "The Name Game".

@djladylexie
Fun Boy Three > Terry Hall > Specials > The Colourfield > Castles In The Air > Castles > Castles can be built of stone or sometimes sand. You build a sandcastle on holiday on the beach. Lots of people in the UK like to go on holiday to the seaside and will sometime stay in a caravan. So I chooses Caravan Holiday by Stereophonics, especially as this song epitomises the english weather! Rain rain rain rain. I fank you.

@patchdacat
Last week’s winning linky woz “it aint what you do it’s the way that you do it”. I puts this away in my imaginary box entitled “linkies wiv lyrics which don’t aktshully link to the previous linky”. I takes my linky this week from the same box and it be “Simply the Best” by Tina Turner. Howevers the lyrics of bowf songys do haz a similar theme .

@rosieterrier
Terry Hall was of course in The Specials the great King are also from Cov along with The Enemy The wonderful Delia Derbyshire also heralds from this great place and she is responsible for the Dr Who theme. Finally my actually linky do be 'Will You' by Ms Hazel O'Conner-a Coventry lass. Hoorah-paws up for excellent Coventry sound!

@kelsoterrier
My link to Ain't What You Do..... by Fun Boy Three this week starts with a link to the band "The Specials" since this is where the 3 members of Fun Boy Three came from. One of The Specials most famous songs is "Ghost Town". This makes me think of a town full of ghosts such as that in the film Ghostbusters. The Ghostbusters theme sung by Ray Parker Jnr is another song that uses the work "Ain't" as in, "I ain't afraid of no ghost" and is, therefore, my link this week. Who you gonna call?

An the winner dis week .... as chosen by @wonderwinger  ..... dus be  ........ @terenceterrier wiv Every Bref You Take By The Police. Yay!! Well done Terence!

Now is time to get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you Terence.

It's over to you! Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until noon (GMT) Sunday 15 July 2012. Oh an don't forget me an Da'Griff's #preweddingBBQ 3pm Sunday UK time. Sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title!

Lexie's Chain dus be inspired by da pawsome Radcliffe & Maconie Show wot you can has a listen to on dere website. Follow me @dogstoyevsky or #lexieschain on Twitter to join da fun. Remember anyfink goes! Rock, classical, opera, ballads, punk, reggae - is up to you! Fanx for playin!

Lexie's Chain: The Seventy-Eighth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 78 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to Kelso to choose. Last week was Tom Robinson Band and 2 4 6 8 Motorway. Let's see wot happened this week!

@bvfeyj
Dis is a pretty roundabout linky. We hab 2 4 6 8 Motorway by da Tom Robinson Band and as Kelso say highway is what we calls da Motorway in da US... so me was finkin’ bout highway songs... den me fink about da Highwaymen & dere songs (boaf da country Highwaymen & da old folk group da Highwaymen) & den me fink dis road goes on foreber and it ain’t goin nowhere, which make me fink ob eben more songs & me couldn’t settle on anyfing, but den me finked dat da highway is also a road so if you take da high road & me take da low road... den me be in Scotland afore ye! Sad song but soooo beautiful!

@diamondbertie
I choose Convoy by CW McColl. Why? Last week's winner was Tom Robinson's Band with 2 4 6 8 I listened to it and then paid attention to to lyrics. They got me thinking of Convoy by CW McColl, remember the film of the same name with Kris Kristoferson and Ali McGraw? They are both about being on the road.

@patchdacat
My linky to follow on from 2-4-6-8 Motorway by Tom Robinson Band is “ Mrs Robinson” by Simon & Garfunkel.

@terenceterrier
I looked for another Motorway song to follow on from 2 4 6 8 Motorway which be last week’s winna. I finds “Motorway Song” wiv bittersweet lyrics by Leon Rosselson about a man losing his garden to transport development and recorded by The Black Family (wordies here http://www.frances-black.net/disco/songs/398.htm so you can all sing along) Sadly I couldna find their recording of it so carried on wiv Mum Mary Black & selected her bootiful rendishun of “Fields of Gold “ cos you’ll find those next to motorways.

@marleyterrier
I see that Kelso was choosin 2468 Motorway so we did be finkin of songs bout roads...likes Highway 61 from Bob Dillun and ... Ventura Highway by America...or Highway to hell by AC/Dc but we is confused by all the choices and we dissnt like tellin peeple wot...road to take so we let em go there own way ...he he...so we choose Go Your Own Way by Fleetwood Mac...

@rettetkaninchen
There is lots more to say about "The English Motorway System" by Black Box Recorder.

@bunnersandharvs
Well dun to da Kelso for last week's selecshun. We deecided ta go wid numbers for our linky dis week so we dun gone wid anudder American band wot be called Chicago and der songy - 25 or 6 to 4. And dat do be dat!

@cloonfourmegan
We hasn't done this for ages and now we is in a rush this week. So we likes numbers in songs and we fink you should join the numbers up so to join up 2 4 6 8 motorway we chooses 5 6 7 8 by Steps! Also we likes doing the dance. Yeehah!

@wonderwinger
The song 2 4 6 8 Motorway immediately made me think of the lyric "3 6 9 the goose drank wine" from my imaginary box entitled "songs to teach counting". This lyric comes from my linky "T'Ain't What You Do (It's The Way That You Do It) by Fun Boy 3 featuring Bananarama. Fun Boy 3 was fronted by Terry Hall who had previously been in the New Wave band The Specials.

Both The Specials & the Tom Robinson dabbled in political activism. The Specials released "Ghost Town" which was about touring when you were in a racially mixed band in Thatcher's Britain. It became a rallying cry for the 1981 riots. Similarly, Tom Robinson had been one of the founding members of the 1976 Rock Against Racism campaign.

@rosieterrier
My linky do be 'Car Wash' by Rose Royce cos a cars gonna get dirrrty driving on dat dere motorway. Innit!

@djladylexie
Annuva song by TRB was Glad To Be Gay wot was written for da London gay pride parade 1976, written by Tom Robinson who was gay an proud. He later went on to declare he was bi-sexewal and re-released da song wiv references to being bi. Annuva singer wot came out (or was outed) and dun a song bowt it wot got im in trubble was George Michael wiv Outside and dat is ma linky.

An the winner dis week .... as chosen by @kelsoterrier  ..... dus be  ........ @wonderwinger wiv Ain't What You Do by Fun Boy Three. Annuva great win ma pal Briar!!

Now is time to get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you Briar.

It's over to you! Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until noon (GMT) Sunday 8 July 2012.
