My link this week is to do with Neils your song was by Neil Sedaka another famous Neil in music is Neil Tenant from the Pet Shop Boys. All you dogs must like the pet shop. So my tune is West End Girls by the Pet Shop Boys. That's all.

You chose a song by Neil Sedaka. His father, Mac Sedaka, was a taxi driver . Joni Mitchell wrote a song called Big yellow Taxi…which we like very much…and that was eventually covered by Counting Crows and Vanessa Carlton. The Counting Crows wrote a very lovely song called Mr Jones….so that is our link this week…and here is the video (complete with Spanish subtitles!!

Carol was written by Sedaka with Howard Greenfield they also collaborated on my linky: Is This Way To Amarillo by Tony Christie. I love the video made with Peter Kay in 2005 for Comic Relief; always good for a Sunday giggle.

Da links for Neil Sedaka are legion. He was prolific songwriter, who wrote for and performed wif so many ob da popular artists. He also hab a cousin who bery talented performer as well, so me does fink dat be good linky. Da hard part is deciding which song... an den me sees dat she recorded one ob Neil Sedaka’s most well known songs “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do”. Me listen to dis and fink it like a whole nother song when she do it but it still bery good, so linky dis week is Ms. Eydie Gorme wif “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do”.

Dis week we have to link to 'Oh Carol', which was written by Neil Sedaka. He and Carol King were both songwriters in the famous Brill Building in New Yoik, where lots of other songwriters and music publishers did have there offices. One of the other songwriters there was Burt Bacharach and he wrote lots of hits, including 'The Look of Love' which was a hit for our very own Dusty Springfield (it is also another love song!).

Last week the winning linky was Oh Carol by Neil Sedaka. I sees that quite a few people have covered this song including The Four Seasons on their album Sherry & 11 Others. Sherry can also be a name for a girl so choose this track as my linky.

Last week we had Carol by Neil Sedaka. For my link this week I am going for another song with a girl's name in it by another Neil. This other Neil, as chance would have it, also went to the same school as Neil Sedaka (albeit a couple of years later) which was Lincoln High in Brooklyn. The song is Sweet Caroline and the singer is Neil Diamond.

My fave Elvis song is You Were Always on my Mind so that's my suggestion. You Were Always On My Mind by Elvis Presley.

We has to do a linky from Tapestry by Carol King. Hmm, well if you look at the cover of the album it came from (also called Tapestry!) you will see there is a CAT right at the front. Yeah, that's right, wot a cheek! Anyhoo, the name of the cat was Telemachus, a useful fing to know for trivia quizzes. Telemachus was a character from Greek miffology, who was the son of Odysseus. Now, according to miff, Odysseus was imprisoned on an island by Calypso (not the drink of the same name). So, my linky is Calypso by Suzanne Vega!

My brain is fried. Too many things to link to Carole King coz she's so amazing! Right, gotta pick something. Hmm, well, a carol about a King is Good King Wenceslas so I'll start there. Apparently Wenceslas was considered a martyr and a saint immediately after his death in the 10th century, when a cult of Wenceslas grew up in Bohemia. Wait a cotton picking minute...Bohemia...that sounds like a rhapsody to me. Not a rhapsody sung by a King tho but by his wife...Queen! So that's my link Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. Off to rest my brain now!

We gots Kings of Music showcase/festival, Nat King Cole, B. B. King, Kings and Queens of the Stoneage, Kings of Leon, King Biscuit, Michael Jackson was known as King of Pop Music, and Elvis was King of Rock and Roll, Bob Marley, King ob Reggae, but one we has not heard from on da #lexieschain so far me not fink is da Polka King, Frankie Yankovic. Unfortunately tho dis song was recorded by Frankie me could not find da bideo wif Frankie himself so me gib you a cober ob “In Heaven There Is No Beer”. Dis get you paws tapping! Hoop-de-doo!

Clever paws Tucker won the chainy last week with “Tapestry” by Carole King. A tapestry is a piece of material sewed with lots of pretty colours. There was a famous coat made of lots of pretty colours. I thinks of course of Joseph & the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. Who was your favorite Joseph ? Jason? Donny? Lee ? 

Well I gives you all three at once so everyone happy - they be singing “Any Dream will do” which be my linky.

Mr Tucker chose a lovely song by Carole King…..she was music royalty in the 1970s…which got us thinking about royalty….and that lead us to thinking about Kings!…Paul King….er…Mark King of Level 42….yikes, better do more thinking….er Queen!…oh Lord no….how about a prince? Well done to Tucker for a most egsepshunal choicy last week in #lexieschain. Dat album dus be a favourite in dis house. So we did think about Carole and da songys and people she did sing wid and one of dem hoomans was James Taylor. It seems dat not only did he encourage her to singy wing her own songies on Tapestry, dey was also good friends; so much so dey did a tour together so dey must be good pals fur sure. So dis made us go wid James Taylor's 'Shower the people you love with love' for our linky cause if you is good pals you always shower dem with love and love is a tapestry of emoshuns and things like dat. TaDa!!

Tapestry contains some of my favourite songs, one of them (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman was originally recorded by Aretha Franklin. Aretha Franklin's follow up to this single was Respect which was also written by another artist: Otis Redding. My link shall therefore be the lovely Otis Redding's (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay.

Oh my goodness! dere be so many choices for dis week and good ones too so me just going to pick somefing. American Pie was written and recorded by Don McLean. His first album recorded in 1969 was called Tapestry but was not a huge success, howeber one ob da best selling albums ob all time also called Tapestry was recorded in 1971 by Carole King. All da songs was written or co-written by her. So me does suggest “Tapestry” by Carole King.

Me does like dis bideo because it list some ob da many uvver songs dat she did write fur uvver peoples, some dat you may not know she did write.

Hi Lexie Hope all well with you after your party sorry I couldn't make it I was out all night. My suggestion this week is When the Levee Breaks by Led Zeppelin. American Pie has the chorus "I went to the levee but the levee was dry" levees are the dykes they build in America to stop flooding. So the link is levees that's all.

Gosh, a chainy first, two winners! Good job Borderpup and Kelso. So, I see Don McLean......Well I automatically think of the Don McClean from the 1970's show Crackerjack! (Think 'cabbages and Kings', Basil Brush [fox---grrrrr]). Many pop stars of the time performed on Crackerjack, one of these is Abba. My linky is 'Eagle' by Abba cos it makes me feel grounded! Well done Kelso & Indy on the double win giving us American Pie and Don McLean as our 1st link of 2013. I decided to keep it simple and run with the "Pie Theme". There have been quite a few songs written about pies or rather songs pretending to be about pies but my link shall be Custard Pie by Led Zeppelin.

Led Zeppelin and Don McLean can be linked further by the fact that they both reference the song "The Book of Love" by The Monotones in their songs Rock and Roll and American Pie.

I see that Mairi Campbell & Dave Francis (who sung da winning linky Auld Lang Syne) were a duo known as The Cast. After burning the midnight oil to find a linky I discovered another band called Cast. I trawled though their moosical archives & found a purrty song to be my linky this week. This be “Walk Away”.

Auld Lany Syne means A Long Time Ago and also relates to Robert Burns poem. He also wrote a fantastic poem called The Twa Dogs. Annuva man wot sung bowty his dog was Cat Stevens! I decide on Love my Dog by Cat Stevens.

Superb linky last week by the awesome comic duo of Harvey & Lord Percy. Big hugs to the pair of you. However, linking to Auld Lang Syne did stump me for a while, until I remembered Robert Burns wrote the poem/song. Little known fact is that Robert Burns has a crater named after him on planet Mercury. However, the best singing Mercury of all time was of course Freddie Mercury, so obviously my choice has to be Queen -Don't Stop Me Now. Take it away Freddie,*gets into the superman pose* I'm BURNing through the skies, yeah, 200 degrees...

Well done Harvey and Mr Percy for your song 'Auld Lang Syne'. Well this is traditionally sung on New Years Eve. U2 did do a song called 'New Years Day' and this was on the album called War. Edwin Starr sang an anti-Vietnam war song of the same name (War). So now we come to my linky *wriggles body in excitement*. I choose the song 'H.A.P.P.Y. Radio' by Edwin Starr. *boogies on down in delight*.

Dis was bery difficult linky dis week. Last week we did hab @bunnersandharvs winner wif Auld Lang Syne performed by Mairi Campbell and Dave Francis. A beautiful song and an excellent version ob it. Dis song was written by Robert Burns, who be da national poet ob Scotland, well, except fur dat he been dead a long time now. Mairi Campbell dat sing it is also a Scot. So me was finking ob Robbie Burns and uvver songs dat he did write and uvver Scottish singers and bands. Mom did eben readed to me her faborite Burns poem “To a Mouse, on Turning Up Her Nest With the Plough”. By den me was all confuzzled, until me remembered a song by a modern Scottish singer/songwriter who do hab some poetic lyrics too and a song wif similar femes to Auld Lang Syne. It all about da year coming to an end an time passing an remembering peoples and places like “A girl... you once used to know”. So me did decide dat me linky is “Time Passages” by Al Stewart.

Last weeks was a delightful version of Auld Lang Syne this come from a Robert Burns poem, so a search my brain for other songs from R. Burns sadly most were too rude,
I went outside and realised this song is sung at the end of a good party or get together, Hava Nagila means Let us Rejoice, Let us Sing, Let us Dance.

Auld Lang Syne always makes me smile because it brings to mind New Year's Parties, holidays and merriment. The title means a long time ago. For this reason I immediately think of the lyrics "A long long time ago I can still remember how that music used to make me smile" which of course is from the song American Pie by Don McLean (who, with a surname like that must have a Scottish heritage!). So that is my link this week :-)
