Lexie's Chain: The Twenty-Fifth Chain

Hello pals. Ow fings? Welcome to Week  25 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to @marleyterrier to make da decishun, so let's see wot ideas come in dis week:

@BabzB01
My song for the chain this week is Under the Boardwalk (the Drifters) cos Boardwalk is in the lyrics of both and it's a great song.

@Kelsoterrier
My entry dis week iz Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys. Why? Coz Sandy
dus make me fink ov da Beach (Boys) and the fireworks on da 4th of  July do cause Good Vibrations.

@Zoetheborder
Dis week I say Soundgarden's 4th of July for two reasons. The first reason is obvious, dat was name of last song. Second is b/c we lub dem.

@iam_fuzzy
the eve of the war - jeff wayne/justin Hayward. the fourth of july is independence day in the u.s of a. 'independence day' is a filum about aliens coming to earth, as is 'war of the worlds'.

@djladylexie
Courtney Pine – Chldren of the Ghetto. Courtney Pine like CC is a soprano sax player so we chose dis song because he plays da same sax as CC on dis one.

Tucker @bvfeyj
Dis week me is going in a different direction wif a weird one. Me pick is "Big Bad John" by Jimmy Dean. How you get dat? me hears you cry... Well, Bruce Springsteen did "Sandy" wif da E Street Band.

Da sax player for da E Street Band was Clarence Clemons aka "The Big Man" ( who did die recently). Jimmy Dean did Big Bad John about another Big Man (who died in da song) & Jimmy Dean died last year So dat da link - picked in memory ob big men in music. Dey big bof in stature and influence an dey was good men!

@Borderpup
The name 'Sandy' immediately made mum fink of Sandy Denny (who had a lovely voice btw) and early on in her career sang wiv The Strawbs.  So we did decide to choose a later Strawbs song, 'A Glimpse of Heaven', wot was recorded when Rick Wakeman were a lad!

@tartan_terriers
Edge of Glory by Lady GaGa. Cos Clarence Clemons the saxophone player who sadly died on 18th June he played on this song and had played with Bruce Springsteen and his band for many years.

And da winner ... as chosen by ... @marleyterrier is ....... Tucker @bvfeyj!

The song: Big Bad John
The year:1961
The artist: Jimmie Dean

Hello pals. Ow fings? Welcome to Week  24 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to Tucker to make da decishun, so let's see wot ideas come in dis week:

@marleyterrier
This week I is nominating Bruce Springsteen singin his song, "4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)". In the first verse, he sings, "As the wizards play down on Pinball Way on the boardwalk way past dark." which i fink is reference to Pinball Wizards by the Ooo.

@kelsoterrier
My entry dis week be The One And Only by Chesney Hawkes. Why? Coz Roger Daltrey of The Who starred in the film Buddy's Song with Chesney Hawkes and the song was also featured in the film. Also because there is one and only The Who! They ROCK!!!

@diamondbertie
Lily the Pink by the Scaffold - the link - very tenuous there is a background tinkle that sounds almost like a pinball machine.

@tartan_terriers
The Masterplan by Oasis. Why? Cos The who, Won't get fooled again is the title track for CSI Miami and The Masterplan was also part of the soundtrack and is on the CSI Miami soundtrack album. Well theme tune not title track...you know what we meam! Bol

@zoetheborder
My entry for Lexie's chain is Kiss Me Deadly. Dis is because Pinball Wizard was dun by The Who who sang My Generation an Generation X did sing Kiss Me Deadly. So see da link is fru generayshun.
@bvfeyj
Me pick dis week is "Wizard" by Uriah Heep for da obvious reason dat it is called "Wizard"!

@djladylexie
Elton John also sang Pinball Wizard in da filum Tommy. Elton John also appeared in da comedy programme of the funniest show (for us anyway( of all time Morcambe and Wise. He sang wiv dem a song called Play A Simple Melody – Irvin Berlin – sung by Morecame & Wise!

And da winner chosen by ...... Tucker (@bvfeyj) ..... is ..... @marleyterrier wiv:
The year: 1973
The song:  4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)
Artist: Bruce Springsteen

@diamondbertie
Mungo Jerry's "In the Summer Time" link is Staring at the sun I am staring at the sky looking for the sun

@borderpup
I choose 'Ashtray Heart' by Placebo, cos it is from their album 'Battle for the Sun' (see what we did there?!). Any thing to make mum put away her U2 albums - they're driving me mad!

@rettetkaninchen
PJ Harvey - Rid of me. Harvey was tour support for U2 short after she released "Rid of me". "Rid of me" is the title counterpart of U2s "Gone" which is on the same album like "Staring at the sun".

@maggietkat
I choose "summer in the City" by the Loving Spoonful. Both are all about getting the girl, just different generations.

@pasikas
I can see clearly now by Jimmy Cliff,its amazing lyrics,wif the line...a bright sun shiney day !! Baboom

@bvfeyj
Pinball Wizard by The Who. Because U2 say da Who one ob da influences for dere music and cause dey hab da lyrics

"I'm not just deaf and dumb
Staring at the sun
Not the only one
Who's happy to go blind"

and Pinball Wizard hab da lyric "deaf, dumb and blind kid "
So dat da link! And dat me pick! Besides dat get us back to music mom knows! BOL

@thisbear
the Germans had a submarine called a U2 so it has to be Yellow Submarine by The Beatles :o)

@marleyterrier
My choce this week do be Wild Horses by the Sundays. Staring at the Sun is likely to makes you go blind. The Sundays had an album by name of Blind. On that record they duss cover of Wild Orses by the Rollin Stones wot we do rilly like.

@zoetheborder
My chain entry is...ta da...Sun in Your Eyes by Above and Beyond. (I hope I is doin it right!) xx

@lamutt
Followin on from U2's Starin at da Sun, I does suggest House of da Risin Sun by da Animals. Dis is cos it be about da sun an Animals n stuff! Uff Uff!

@tartan_terriers
Blinded by the sun by The Seahorses why? Cos its about the sun and also mum and dad saw U2 pop mart tour in Edinburgh 97, they sang staring at the sun and The Seahorses were the support act.

@torathespaniel
I want to enter Discotheque by U2 cos da Staring at Da Sun song was on da album Pop and Discotheque is off dat album and it be a great song!

@kelsoterrier
My choice iz Turning Japanese by The Vapors. Why? Because it iz rumoured that Staring at the Sun will make u go blind and it iz also rumoured that too much err, of the thing that makes u Turn Japanese will also make u go blind ;-) BOL!

And da winner chosen by ...... me (which was so hard to choose coz they was all fantastics)..... is .......@bvfeyj (aka Tucker) wiv:

The year: 1969
The song:  Pinball Wizard
Artist: The Who

Well done ma pal, woz  great linky! Please keep playin pals, is so much fun when there dus be lots of entries ;).

Lexie's Chain: The Twenty-Second Chain

Hello pals. Ow fings? Welcome to Week 22 of #lexieschain. Dis week it woz down to @kelsoterrier to make da decishun. So let's see wot ideas come in dis week:

@MarthaTheWestie Ello Lexie i duz say 'Travis - Sing' for da chain coz it has a banjo in it that duz sound nice (my brain hurt now-been finkin too much).

@borderpup Is difficult dis week, and that techno stuff is doing my poor ead in .... So I looked up The Grid and came up wiv dis ... I choose 'I Wanna be Free' by Toyah because apparently The Grid did record wiv Robert Fripp, he of King Crimson fame, who also dus appen to be married to Toyah!

@Tartan_Terriers This was a tricky one! Im gonna be (500 miles) by me first and the gimme gimmes why?.... ..cos daft punk have a track called the grid but we dont like it so the gimme gimmes are a punk band and we like them! Oh and we like this version of the song.

@DJLadyLexie The Grid also did a song called Face The Sun which is on da album 456. Annuva song wot is about the sun is Staring At The Sun by U2 who also as a number in they name (tenuous or what!)

And da winner chosen by ...... @kelsoterrier ..... is ....... @djladylexie (me again!) wiv:

The year: 1992
The song: Staring At The Sun
Artist: U2
