Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Seventy Third Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 273 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Wyn wiv Kenny Rogers and the First Edition singin Just Dropped In.

@maggietkat
Well done Wyn with Kenny Rogers and "what condition my condition is in". As with any group, there is turnover in personnel with subsequent tryouts. One of the rejects was Karen Carpenter. Karen referred to herself as a drummer who sang. One drummer who praised Karen's playing was Hal Blaine who has played with artists ranging from Frank Sinatra to the 5th Dimension. Blaine was a session musician for a number of Carpenter songs. This one reached #1 on the charts, (They long to be) close to you.

@skye613
I'm afraid my condition is not good this week nor is the world's with the passing of Prince. My link this week is " I wish u Heaven." The world's condition became a bit quieter, a great deal sadder. RIP Prince.

@terenceterrier
Larst week Wynn winned wiv “Just Dropped in” by Kenny Rogers. I fink dat peeps wot just dropped in might use parachutes. Pearl Jam have a songy called “Parachutes” so I gonna use dat as my linky.

@diamondbertie
@wotterface won last week with just dropped in by Kenny Rogers from The Big Lebowski. This movie was produced by the Coen Brothers who also produced the movie Fargo and the two TV series of the same name. These are darkly funny which will appeal to those with a mordant sense of humour yet the main theme music is positively dreamy, at odds with the stories, that is my choice.

@cloonfourmegan
Well what a week this has been for losing some great people. This song sums up what we think of 2016!

@djladylexie
A song about being at the bottom of a bottle I suppose. You could say he was four sheets to the wind. Here's me linky Tom Waits wiv Tom Traubert's Blues (four sheets to the wind in copenhagen).

@sonikebt
@WOtterface won the chain last week with a song from the Big Lebowski which starred Jeff Bridges. Jeff also starred in the Tron films and our link this week is from Tron: Legacy - "Derezzed" by Daft Punk.

An da winner as chosened by Wyn dus be ................................. @sonikebt wiv Daft Punk an Derezzed!Yay! Well done me pal is your turn next week!

Ere wot Wyn said: It was a difficult choice this week and as much as I wanted to go with a Prince or Victoria Wood song, I couldn't choose between the two. So I went for a bit of synth pop instead with Link 6.

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 1st May 2016 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Seventy Second Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 272 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Clapton wiv Marvin Gaye and What's Goin On. Let's see wot we gots this week:

@maggietkat
Well done with Marvin Gaye and What's goin' on. The song was written after seeing police brutality. When I think about police brutality, I think back to the unspeakable Kent State massacre where the Ohio State Militia opened fire on the Kent State campus killing 4 students and injuring 9 others. So, here are Crosby Stills Nash and Young immortalizing the shooting with "Ohio".

@cloonfourmegan
Clapton won last week with Marvin Gaye. I is often Starvin Marvin which be rhyming slang for Hank Marvin and here he be with his Shadows and their classic hit Apache.

@terenceterrier
Larst week our little woolly pal Clapton winned wiv da linky “What’s Going On” by Marvin Gaye. Da songy I always fink of by him is “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” . Dis means he bin listenin to rumours. “Rumours” is a LP by Fleetwood Mac. I gives yoo da track “Dreams” as my linky (live vershun of corse)

@skye613
Sir Clapton winned with Mr. Marvin Gaye's 1971 classic " What's going On." In 1992, 4 Non Blondes asked the same thing " I said hey what's going on " in their hit " What's Up? " Here's a more recent cover I likes a lot!

@diamondbertie
Good morning. Last week @claptonterrier won with Marvin Gaye singing What's Going On. A lovely choice CT , so much talent, my mind turned to another black singer who died tragically young Sam Cooke my favourite of his is Wonderful World.

@wotterface
Last week's winner was Clapton with Marvin Gaye's Vietnam protest song "What's Going On?" I decided to look at other Vietnam protest songs and found the Creedence Clearwater Revival had also done one. Of course when you think of Creedence your mind automatically thinks of El Duderino, His Dudeness, Duder or simply The Dude and the film The Big Lebowski. So I chose a song from that film. Kenny Rogers and the First Edition "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)"

Careful man, there's a beverage here.

@pepperandspot
Our linky this week for Mr Gaye is that the poor chap was shot deaded by his father. Which is very sad. But our linky is a jaunty tune "Daddy Cool " by Darts. Because his daddy eventually died of a bad cold ( pneumonia!)

@sonikebt
@claptonterrier 's winning link by Marvin Gaye asked "What's going on". Well the answer to that is, politically, quite a lot. There is Tories tax affairs, EU referendum, protests against austerity, rows about the NHS etc. Our link this week was a protest against the Tories spending taxpayers money on arms. So in answer to the question "What's going on" well we're "Going Underground" by The Jam.

@djladylexie
Marvin Gaye What's Going on? Well maybe if he'd heard done what his other song about hearing fings on the grapevine he'd know heehee! Hearin somfink through the grapevine means you hear fings through rumours or gossip or so rumour has it!

An da winner as chosened by Clapton dus be ................................. bing da de bong .... is @'wotterface wiv Kenny Rogers and The First Edition wiv Just Dropped In. Well done me pal Wyn, you be choosin next week!

Ere wot Clapton said: OMD Miss Lexie…this is the hardest Chain we have ever had to judge. So much good music here and some very clever links too. Hmmmm….well, in the end we have opted for link No. 6…Kenny Rodgers and the First Edition…because we do love the Big Lebowski and it has  reminded us to go and have our annual viewing of it.

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 24th April 2016 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Seventy First Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 271 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Wotterface Wyn wiv King for a Day from Jamiroquai. Let's see wot we gots this week:

@maggietkat
Well done Wyn with King for a day. I read about the band whose roots were in jazz such as found on Blue Note Records. blue Note recorded many interesting artists which were studio musicians who went in to form incredible groups. Two such artists are Thelonius Monk and Milt Jackson. Here they are in a 1951 recording of a standard Willow Weep for Me.

@diamondbertie
The clever @Wotterface won with King for a Day by Jamiroqui a song of partings, my choice Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits this if my memory serves me was in the mid 1980s during a difficult period in our history. We had the Falklands War, it's a haunting song used at funerals of loved ones.

@claptonterrier
last week Miss Wyn won with a song called King For a Day by Jamiroquai... The song is a "tribute" to bassist Stuart Zender,…and we read that one of mr Zender’s favourite pieces of bass playing was on the Marvin Gaye song…"What’s Going On”…so that is our linky this week

@skye613
Oh me Oh my. Couldn't find this tunage so I went with the band. In 1994 Jamiroquai released " Space Cowboy" . It became their first US #1 on the dance charts. My fav Space Cowboy is from these Jokers!

@terenceterrier
Larst week Wynn nailed her name to da list of weekly linkie winners wiv Jamiroquai n “King for A Day”. So I sticks wiv da King theme n chooses Carole King as my linky singer. Corse peeps might only love yoo if yoo royalty so next day when yoo ordinary dey mite not so I gives yoo her songy “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” as my linky.

@djladylexie
King for a Day ... Well now did you know that a band called Pierce the Veil also dun a song wot was called King For A Day wot is erm a rock hardcore or summat. Anyhooooo, to pierce the veil is to cut through to the truth of a matter or to go beyond the veil to see what really matters. So in this regard I dus be choosin Beyond The Veil by Linsey Stirling who dus play violin really good and sings a bit sort of!

An da winner as chosened by Wyn dus be ................................. bing da de bong .... is @claptonterrier wiv Marvin Gaye.

Ere wot Wyn said: It was a really tough week to choose but I listened to all the songs and went for the one I liked most, link 3, Marvin Gaye.

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 17th April 2016 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Seventieth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 2870 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was me wiv Eric Clapton an Wonderful Tonight. Let's see what we gots this week!

@pepperandspot
Last week clever lexie chose Wonderful Tonight by that lovely chap Eric Clapton. There are many famous Claptons in this world. One very close to our hearts, which made mum think back to another dear friend and great songster Bob Marley.

So our linky , however tenuous is Bob Marley singing the sun is shining. Because it is in Cordoba, which is where we are today.

@claptonterrier

Hello Miss Lexie…..last week you chose a song by Eric Clapton which was famously written abut his supermodel girlfriend Patti Boyd.  Miss Boyd had previously been the girlfriend of George Harrison. These rock stars never keep the same girl for long. So this week our link is “This Year’s Girl” by Elvis Costello.

@maggietkat
Well done Lexi with Clapton's beautiful ballad Wonderful Tonight.  Back in 1988, Dire Straits asked Eric to play back up for the celebration of Nelson Mandela's 70th birthday. At that concert The band played a surprise version of Eric's ballad. I chose a Dire Straits number from that 1988 Wembly concert, "Walk of Life".

@wotterface

Well done on last weeks win *coughfixcough* with Eric Clapton and Wonderful Tonight. I did some reading up on old Slow Hand and discovered he's a Ferrari collector. Another Ferrari collector immediately sprang to mind: Jay Kay from Jamiroquai. So here is my favourite Jamiroquai song, King For A Day.

@terenceterrier
I dussnt really feel like playing dis week cos my good pal Patch (who used to play lexieschain when he woz younger) also went OTRB Easter weekend. But I gives it a go. Larst week yoo gives us da winnin linkie “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton wiv Katie Kissoon backin. Da songy wot I fink of straight off woz “Tonight Tonight” from West Side Story. Dis versun be wiv Lea Salonga n John Barrowman (always AKA Capt Jack in dis home).

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Lexie won wiv Eric Clapton. Mr Slow Hand was born in Ripley Surrey. Surrey has been fertile ground for musicians including the Jam and this is one of our fave Jam songs.

@sonikebt
Well done to @Dogstoyevsky for the winning link last week with Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight". This week we are sticking with the links wonderful and night with ... eer..."Wonderful Night" by Fatboy Slim.

An da winner as choosed by me daddy-o dus be ..................  @wotterface wiv King for a Day from Jamiroquai.

Ere wot the Dad said:  I like Ferrari's.

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 10th April 2016 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee.
