Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Sixty Fourth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 264 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was me wiv Why Does It Always Rain On Me from Travis. Let's see wots we got this week.

@sonikebt
Well done Lexie for winning the chain last week with "Why does it always rain on me?" by Travis. Well the answer to that question is easy - it's because the band lived in Glasgow. It doesn't always rain in Glasgow so we thought we would try and find a local band who wrote about nice weather. After discounting Wet Wet Wet, Deacon Blue's "Raintown"and The Blue Nile's "Tinseltown in the rain" we gave up. So let's forget about the rain and "(Reach up for the) Sunrise" by Duran Duran.

@maggietkat
Well done Lexi with Travis with Why does it always rain on me. The band's name, Travis, was taken from a character, Travis Henderson, in the movie Paris Texas. Ry Cooder wrote the soundtrack for the movie. Cooder was ranked eighth in the Rolling Stone 100 best guitarists. Here is an example of that talent with Bobby King.

@cloonfourmegan
Last week DJ Lexie won with Travis and Why Does It Always Rain on Me? Our favourite Travis song is Flowers in the Window which made us fink of our other favourite song about something in a window! The one with the waggly tail!

@terenceterrier
Larst week Lexie winned da chainy wiv “Why Does It Always Rain On Me ? “ by Travis. Hmm silly boy needs a brolly to keep dry. So wiv Lexie’s Dad in mind I chooses da live vershun from Manchester of Rhianna performing “Umbrella”.

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie…last week you chose a song by the band Travis….the only other Travis we could think of was Travis Bickle…the infamous central character of the film Taxi Driver by Martin Scorcese…of course Mr Bickle was famously played by Robert de Niro and so our linky this week is “Robert de Niro’s Waiting” by Bananarama…

@wotterface
Well done last week for winning with the absolute blinder of Travis and Why Does it Always Rain on Me? I say it's a blinder because it holds a very fond place in Mom's heart. You see, she spent a significant part of the summer of 1999 in fields, not washing, drinking cider and listening to music at festivals and saw Travis several times. You could guarantee that every time they played this song it would floopin rain. But everyone would raise their arms in the air and sing along. Another band that were heavy on the festival circuit that year were Gomez and she never missed a chance to see them either, and saw both Travis and Gomez at Glasto. So my choice this week is another festival sing along tune, Gomez with Whippin' Piccadilly.

An da winner as choosed by me dad dus be ......................... Maggie!! Yay! You choosin next week Maggie.

Ere wot Dad said: All very good links. I like them all. However, as The Kurgan says, there can be only one. So I am going with Ry Cooder coz I didn't know that about Travis.

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Sixty Third Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 263 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Sonic wiv Shelter from Dylan. Let's see wots we got this week.

@cloonfourmegan
Da winning Linky last week from Sonic was Bob Dylan wiv Shelter from the Storm. This song was part of the soundtrack for the Steve Jobs film last year. That soundtrack also had those bad boys The Libertines on it and we pick our favouritist Libertines song Don't Look Back Into the Sun which mum likes to play loud in the car when there is some sun!

@terenceterrier
Larst week pal Sonic winned wiv “Shelter From The Storm” by Bob Dylan. I nearly sent in dat one myself *slaps head wiv paws*. Anyhows if dere be a storm I spect there be lotsa rain. So for my linky dis week I gives yoo “Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head” wot woz on da Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid film soundtrack n sung by B J Thomas.

@skye613
Seeking shelter from the storm, many 2 and 4 legged must do this. Shelter from water, cold white stuff and winds. Sometimes all we can do is " Stand Back".

@wotterface
Last week's winner was Bob Dylan with Shelter From the Storm. Dylan wrote more songs about the weather than anyone else so I'm continuing that theme with a song entitled Snow.

@izzy_border
@sonikebt won last week with Bob Dylan Shelter from the Storm. All the storms we've been having lately makes it feel a bit like being battered by a hurricane so the song that jumped into mind straight away was Rock you like a Hurricane by the Scorpions. This is a classic hair metal song, but mum decided to give you the unplugged version showing metal can actually grow up!

@maggietkat
Congrats with Dylan's "shelter from the storm".  You can find shelter in many things. The Band backed Dylan for many years. Band member Robbie Robertson penned this iconic song, "The Weight" which is about all types of shelters and temptations. One of my favorite versions is Aretha Franklin along with Duane Allman (the Allman brothers also covered the tune).

@djladylexie
Well done wiv Shelter From The Storm from Bob Dylan. Sometimes it's like a raincloud is following you everwhere you go. The question is - why does it always rain on me?

An da winner as choosed by Sonic dus be ......................... poo is me!! Yay! I will get me dad to do the choosin next week.

Ere wot Sonic said: Thanks for all the great links pals we did enjoy listening to them. Our choice this week is linky no 7 coz we luvz Travis.

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Sixty Second Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 262 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Skye wiv Lone Justice and Shelter . Let's see wots we got this week.

@maggietkat
Well done Skye with Lone Justice's Shelter. I had a chain prepared but I felt that the late great Maurice White of Earth Wind and Fire deserved to be recognized. So my chain this week is EWF's version of "Got to get you into my life" because you gots to have your love in your life before you can be their shelter.

@izzy_border
Loved last weeks winner Lone Justice with Shelter.  Now Shelter was produced by Jimmy Iovine and Steven Van Zandt. Van Zandt was an integral member of Bruce Springsteens band The E Street band and was a friend of Springsteens since childhood.

Van Zandt played on many a Springsteen album but live he is best known for the vocals on Glory Days so here's Glory Days by Bruce Springsteen (Van Zandt's the one with the bandana on!)

@terenceterrier
larst week pal Skye give us da linky “Shelter” by Lone Justice. I sits n meddytayts n da sumwot obviuss linky  “Gimme Shelter” by da Rolling Stones floats into my head. Dis be a live vershun (of corse) an one wot illystrayts only too clearly wot dat ravages of years of drugs, sex n rock n roll can do to people. Dey seriussly scary lookin n I would run for shelter if I saw dem in da street.

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Skye won with Maria McKee singing with Lone Justice. This made us fink about law and justice and that they may not be the same fing. But we conclude no point fighting the law as this Linky do tell us!

@wotterface
Very quick link from me today as I'm shot on time. From one song called Shelter to another. Birdy and Shelter...

@claptonterrier
Last week Miss Skye won with a song by (one of our favourite bands)  Lone Justice….and this week we have chosen as our linky a song about a man who gets justice served upon him…it’s I Fought the Law and Law Won by the Clash…

@sonikebt
@syke won last week with Lone Justice and "Shelter". As we are writing this it is blowing a hoolie outside so our link has to be "Shelter from the Storm" by Bob Dylan

 @djladylexie
Skye woned wiv Lone Justice and Shelter. Lone Justice formed in the 1980's and were part of the cowpunk scene. Cowpunk is a mash up of country and punk. Punk rock or punk bands were known for their anti-establishment lyrics and aggressive music style. Postpunk/gothic bands soon followed on the heels of punk. One such band The Cult are one such. In keeping with shelter linky we dus we give you She Sells Sanctuary from The Cult.

An da winner as choosed by Skye dus be ......................... Sonic (@sonikebt)! Yay! Well done me pal you dus be choosin next week.

Ere wot Skye said: Super great links this week, many  legends of music are well represented. So how to choose.... #3 made me laugh, #1 deserves a mention and #5 is beautiful, but as always there can be only one winner. And who could be better than Dylan. My winner this week in #7.

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 14th February 2016 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Sixty First Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 261 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Megan wiv  . Let's see wots we got this week.

@terenceterrier
Larst week pal Megan winned wiv “I Still Believe” by Frank Turner. Wowser for once dere be lotsa of linkies I could use. Anyhows in da songy it sez dat dey saved by rock n roll. So I looks for a linky from dat era.  My mums own Dad had a favrit songy n group from back then wot ties in nicely.  So I gives yoo “I Believe” by The Batchelors. (He sed dey could sing proper not like all dem groups wot da teenagers liked.)

@skye613
Congrats Megan! Did not know Frank Turner. During my research I found out that he is also an author. Ohhh these paws wondered how many other singers were also authors. Many many write their own songs but I was interested in books and short stories. Found out there are many including Jimmy Buffett, Ryan Adams, Madonna, Alice Cooper and Maria McKee. Maria was the lead singer for Lone Justice one of our fav defunct bands.  Enjoy linky pals!

@wotterface
Last week's winner was Frank Turner so I listened to the song and was immediately reminded of this song. Then I googled and found out they have played together at several gigs, so that's my link from Frank Turner to Cosmo Jarvis and Gay Pirates...

@izzy_border
Megan won last week with Frank Turner, who I have to confess we knew about but have not listened to much. A couple of plays of this track and me and mum are bopping around the room! So how to link to that?

About 1.30 mins in Frank do sing about teenage kicks. Well, all aging punk rockers only fink one thing when they do hear that..... The Undertones!!!! So there is really only one song we want Teenage Kicks by the Undertones.

@diamondbertie
Well done @cloonfourmegan with the great choice I Believe by Frank Turner a really happy smile making song. My choice is Under The Moon of Love by Showaddywaddy, this also makes me smile even if I feel a bit down.

@maggietkat
Congrats with Turner's song.  I am going with the paraphrased lyric "Rock and roll saves" for my link. Here is ELO's version of the penultimate rock and roll song, Roll over Beethoven".

@djladylexie
Great song! Oh yes, I do believe in rock and roll! May it rock on forever. David Essex said it will, so that's all right then.

@sonikebt
We loved @CloonfourMegan link last week "I still believe "by Frank Turner which certainly got our paws tapping. There are lots of artists with songs about believing one of which is Tears for Fears and "I Believe", from their album Songs from the Big Chair (which our typist used to listen to a lot on something called a Walkman!). This album also includes a song inspired by Arthur Janov's Primal Therapy treatment in which people confront their fears by shouting and screaming. Our link this week is "Shout" by Tears for Fears

An da winner as choosed by Megan dus be ......................... Skye! Yay! Well done me pal you dus be choosin next week.

Ere wot Megan said: We glad everyone enjoyed the Frank Turner song and really got their thinking caps on this week. There are so many linkys we love and remind mum of songs and artists from her youth. But we choose an artist we not know so well because it be such a well researched and clever linky ... and we like the song too! So our choice is Linky 2

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 7th February 2016 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee.
