Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Twelfth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 212 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Indie with Ernie, The Fastest Milkman from Benny Hill. Lets see wot we gots dis week.

@wotterface
Last weeks winner was Benny Hill with Ernie and his fast milk cart. Poor Trigger, getting kicked by Two Tonne Ted! So I've chosen another comedian who had a hit single - Vic Reeves and the Wonderstuff with Dizzy.

@wonderwinger
Last week the wise and wonderful @borderpup won with Ernie the Fastest Milkman in the West. I thought I'd use Milk as my Linky and I immediately thought of the Sean Penn film, "Milk" the biopic about the first openly gay person elected to US public office, Harvey Milk. My song comes from the soundtrack and is the delightful disco classic by Sylvester - You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real). (Warning do not watch this video if hungover or prone to epilepsy).

@kelsoterrier
Ernie, for some reason makes me think of E.R.N.I.E. (can't think why) which is the computer that chooses the winning premium bond numbers, although he never chooses mine! The best (or Premium) Bond was, of course, Roger Moore which I'm also counting as my rude Benny Hill-esque innuendo (in your endo - that's the second one) link for the week because of the Roger More connotations. Anyway, I digress. The song Ernie was about a milkman and baker trying to win the girl and they both had a fight with A View To Kill each other. So my link this week is Duran Duran with the Bond theme A View To A Kill.

@diamondbertie
The very clever @borderpup won last weeks chain with Benny Hill's funny song Ernie - the fastest milkman in the west.  I can only choose as the link is the Benny Hill theme Yakety Sax. Why? When I listened to Ernie the theme Yakety Sax kept coming to my head.

@terenceterrier
Larst week da winning linky woz “Ernie The Fastest Milkman in the West” by Benny Hill. His character woz well known for leerin at n chasin young girls wiv big boobies. Vewy non PC n all dat but no wun knoo wot PC woz back den. Dey fort it woz Dixon of Dock Green. Anyways I digress – back to da linky. A well known comedy actress of da same era wot had her boobies leered at in da “Carry On” fillums woz Barbara Windsor. So for my linky I gives yoo a songy by Babs “Sparrows Can’t Sing”.

@djladylexie
Milkmen worked for milk companies like Unigate and drove around in their milkfloat deliverin milk. They wod ring on your doorbell and ask you if you wanted one or two pints! Are you ok for yoggit and butter and fings like that. Unigate wos a milk company wot came up wiv characters they called Humphreys. Humphreys were milk feeves wot would suck up milk few a red and white stripey straw. The White Stripes are a famous band wot are known for wearing red and white whilst performing. Here's their song, My Doorbell.

@claptonterrier
Indie won with a song called Ernie by well-known funny man, Benny Hill. We did not have to think for long about a link….Mr Hill was very silly and very funny…so this week we have chosen a song by The Divine Comedy…called National Express….

@maggietkat
Well done with Benny Hill and Ernie! I am going the silly farm route for my chain. I present to you the Peterson Brothers with Farm Style.

So the winner as chosen by @borderpup dus be ......... @kelstoterrier. Blimey you is on a roll!! You dus be choosin next week Kelos!

Ere wot Indie said: Well, a diverse bunch this week! We had great fun reading frew all the linkies and listening to all the songs, from 'bahaha' to 'too cool for skool'. After much deliberation (and a couple of sherries) we can announce this week's winner is ... number 3 with 'View to a Kill'. Congrats, No. 3!  Oh, and by the way, No. 6, we do still have a milkman, and No. 7 - mum concurs; it is indeed hard to get by when your arse is the size of a small country!

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 1st March 2015 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Eleventh Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 211 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was me wiv Ken from Kate Bush. Let's see wot appened this week.

@terenceterrier
Da winnin linky larst week woz “Ken” sung by Kate Bush. Ken of corse woz usually referred to as Red Ken. So for my linky I gonna pick “Red Flag” by Billy Tallent.

@borderpup
You know that feeling when you get one fort in your head and it won't go away? (Frow da ball, frow da ball etc). Well that's what happened this week for mum and I should just like to say this has nuffing to do wiv me whatsoever and I apologise to everyone for inflicting this song on them. Here goes ... back to the politics and stuff, mum had the 'save the GLC' stickers and badges back in the day, and she had one on once when visiting her nan in Yorksha on a day the milkman called. He was a local farmer, who just happened to be Sir Bernard Ingham's brother!! So our linky continues the politics feem with ... milk!

@smcheetham
Well done Lexie that brought back a lot of memories for me of a lot of marching I did in my youth. I have used the word Ken to give me my link this week. It's a very simple one from Ken to Kenneth and What's the Frequency Kenneth by REM. So here you go have a good week all.

@wotterface
Last weeks winner was you with the delightful Kate Bush. Kate Bush's first single was Wuthering Heights, about the book of the same name. Lots of songs have been about or inspired by literature and my pick this week was inspired by and takes it's title from John Milton's Paradise Lost.

“On a gathering storm comes/a tall handsome man/in a dusty black coat with a red right hand”.

@kelsoterrier
Kate Bush was famous for running up that hill and I can only assume she was so keen to get to the top to enjoy The View. Mr Ken Livingstone aka "people's Ken" was regarded as having the common touch with the working-class. Many tradesmen therefore probably thought of him as a superstar. So my link this week is The View with Superstar Tradesman. Think dad might like this tuuuuunne!

@diamondbertie
Here is my feeble entry, first well done with winning your choice by Kate Bush - Ken, got me thinking of spin doctors and their ilk.

This is by no means a new phenomenon, during the French Revolution a brilliant composer and and lyrics writer Claude Joseph Rouget de Lisle in 1792 composed La Marseillaise which was adopted to the French National Anthem in 1795, this stirring anthem would get anyone to man the barricades.

@maggietkat
Well done Lex with Kate Bush! Since the song is about politics, I thought I would bring a bit of my world. It has been tough times in Ferguson, MO. My link is Tracey Chapman's "talking about a revolution" in honor of all those fighting for equality.

@bunnersandharvs
Well dat Lexie is on a roll dis year too wid her recent winning linky from Kate Bush - Ken. We listened to dem lyrics and thort about Ken bein a sexie machine. Dat gots us thinking about how he prolly things he rilly sexie so we thorts about da songy by Right Said Fred's 'I'm too sexy'. Dat cos it made us giggle thinking abowt dem politishuns dansin rownd looking silly wot likes most of dem dus. Happy choosing, Lexie's Dad and happy week evapaws.

@skye613
Lexie did win with a political song by Kate Bush last week pushing a candidate
for mayor of London. The Smiths have a rush and a push for their land of England. Tough week !

An the winner as decided by me dad .......... dus be ............ @borderpup  wiv Ernie by Benny Hill. Oh ham gawd. Whodda funked that?! Well ma pal next time is you to chooses.

Ere wot me Dad said:  Me again? Really? I'l have to start charging you Lex! They are all great links but the Ernie one is well thought out and funny, even though the song is utter *&@%.  So I have to go with it. This is doing nothing for my street cred!

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 15th February 2015 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Tenth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 210 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Kelso wiv Dead or Alive and You Spin Me Right Round Baby. Let's see wot appened this week.

@borderpup
When we fink of Dead or Alive, the first fing that springs to mind is how - um - different singer Pete Burns looks these days! So we did go for plastic surgery as our linky and here is a video of Dolly (in the early days if hers) and Kenny (before he looked so surprised).
KENNY ROGERS & DOLLY PARTON - ISLANDS IN THE STREAM - HQ Audio:

@terenceterrier
Larst week da winning linky woz “You spin me right round (like a record)” by Dead or Alive. Corse back in da Wild West days “Wanted – Dead or Alive” woz wot dey put on da posters of da baddies. So for my linky I looked for a cowboy song and it be “Ragtime Cowboy Joe” by The Chipmunks,

@diamondbertie
Last weeks winner was the very clever @kelsoterrier, with Dead or Alive by You Spin Me Round. I have to choose for my link Everybody's Talking from Midnight Cowboy by Harry Nilsson.

@wotterface
We confess, we found it mega hard this week. So here's a convoluted way to use a track we really like. Dead or Alive was synth pop so we originally was going to choose Yomanda with Synth and Strings as our track but the video is so bloody awful we just couldn't do it. So...Synth and Strings is on Mom's running playlist as it's very motivational. The track we've chosen is also in Mom's running playlist and we love the video...Kosheen and Hungry.

@djladylexie
Records spin, plates spin, wheels spin but did you know that people spin and I don't mean round in a circle. People spin words and they is called Spin Doctors. Spin Doctors elp politicians . One of the most famous spin doctors was Sir Bernard Ingham who worked for Margaret Fatcher. A great opponent of Fatcher was Ken Livingstone who was Leader of the GLC. Fatcher got rid of 'Red Ken' and abolished the GLC using spin doctor Ingham to change the public view of Ken. So our linky dus be spin doctors, politics and the GLC. Ere be Kate Bush wiv Ken!

@maggietkat
Well done with Dead or Alive. When "you spin me around" I get dizzy. So, I went with Dizzy Gillespie with the most amazing trumpeter cheeks! This is "Love for Sale" just in time for Valentines Day.

@skye613
And around and around we go! Dead or Alive's " You Spin Me Round ( Like a Record ) " Well wheels are round like records. They spin on lots of surfaces. The #1 record for spinning classes in 2013 was " Wake Me Up ". Makes you peddle very fast I'm told. Hard to reach the peddles for me.

@claptonterrier
Mr Kelso chose a song called You Spin Me Right Round (Like a Record) Baby….so our link this week is to that record doing the spinning….we could have gone with “Spin the Black Circle” by Pear Jam or “Big 10 Inch Record” by Aerosmith or maybe even “Roll Over Beethoven” by Chuck Berry ….but we have chosen Miss Corinne Bailey Rae singing “Put Your Records On”!…it is Sunday after all….

An the winner as chosen by @kelsoterrier dus be ..... oh gawd *holds head in paws* wot! Is me again!  Pffttt. Dad ain't gonna be appy!

Ere wot me Kelso said:  Ello there, this week I chose link 5 coz I did learn something from it and learning is good so I'm told! I hope it's not your link Lexie, BOL!

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 8th February 2015 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!

Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Ninth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 209 of #lexieschain. Last week  the winner was me wiv New Order and World In Moshun. Let's see wot appened this week.

@smcheetham
So Lexie you won last week with a song by New Order one of my fave bands. new Order of course were formed following the tragic death of Ian Curtis and the ending of Joy Division. Joy Division have been very influential and much revered of course. Here is probably their best known song Love will Tear us Apart - don't they all look fresh faced in this video. Happy choosing everyone.

@diamondbertie
Last week @djladylexie won with World in Motion by England New Order I'm keeping the theme of football with Football Crazy by Robin Hall and Jimmy MacGregor, I know its old but I could not resist it.

+Terence Terrier
Yor linky larst week woz  New Order wiv World in Motion wot yoo sez be abowt World Cup football. So iz gonna stick wiv da world n football link and my linky iz gonna be “Love Makes The World Go Round” by Perry Como cos he haz da All American Football Team doin da backing.

+Kelso Terrier
Last week we had World In Motion by New Order. When the world is in motion (which I guess is all the time really) it spins. This made me think of a whole load of spinning linkies until I got Dizzy (like a whirlpool...but I'm not choosing Wonderstuff). My link is Dead or Alive with You Spin Me Right Round (Like A Record) BABY!

@wotterface
So last weeks winner was New Order with World in Motion with John Barnes rapping. My link this week is simple. It's someone we're massive fans of in this house  - spoken word/ hip hop artist/ rapper Scroobius Pip showing us how rapping should be done. Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip and their very early track "Look For The Woman".

 +MaggieT Kat
Well done Lexie! The lyrics have one repeated phrase "express yourself". That mantra is the title for several songs, but my favorite is from 1970 by Charles Wright and the 103rd Street Rhythm Band.

+De Cunningham
The Lady DJ Lexie wants us to link to a football song. This song is a combination of singing and rap. So in keeping with that theme and considering it is Super Bowl weekend, my link is " Ready or Not". Lauryn Hill is considered one of the first & one of the best to combine rap & song. And I'm always ready for Football!

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie! Last week you chose a song associated with football….we thought it might be nice to keep the sporting theme going so this week we have chosen a song about baseball..it is a song called “Centrefield” by John Fogerty……it was included in the film Bull Durham, about baseball, and also plays at the Baseball Hall of Fame in the uSA.

An the winner as chosen by ma dad ......  dus be ....... @kelsoterrier. Yay! You be dussin the selecshun next week me pal.

Ere wot me dad said:  I can't decide between all these great links from everyone. This is annoying. How did I get stuck doing this again? The spinning one made me laugh so that is my choice. [Lexie's note: this is not a fix, dad does not know who anyone is I promise]
