Lexie's Chain: The Seventy-Seventh Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 77 of #lexieschain. Dis week, after a slight hiccup, was down to Bunners and Harvs to choose. Last week was Robbie Williams and My Way. Let's see wot happened this week!

@bvfeyj
Okay, so after all ob da confusion if me got dis right we hab “My Way” by Robbie Williams. Da name Robbie Williams does make me fink ob Robin Williams which remind me ob da wunnerful mobie “Good Morning Vietnam” which hab an outstanding soundtrack. Me chose “Five O'Clock World” by The Vogues cuz it a great song & dese guys is from Pittsburgh! Dey still does free concerts here in da summertime! (Dey do dis song & lots ob uvver ones & dey still sounds good!)

@icypinklemonade
Robbie Williams also does a song called radio... When I saw Radio, the lyric "listen to the AM radio" came into my head! So I submit "AM Radio" by everclear.

@rettetkaninchen
New York by Nina Hagen. Why? Nina Hagen also covered "My Way" like Robbie Williams did. It was also one of the big hits of Frank Sinatra. Another of his hits was "New York, New York". That links back to Nina's song.

@djladylexie
Ok … I'm finkin, I'm finkin … Right … Robbie Williams sang My Way wot is a song written for Frank Sinatra by Paul Anka. Paul Anka wrote the song just for Fraink Sinatra coz he was all me me me, my my my so he fort it was funny that he was always talking about himself in a big way. Dis be like someone who fink they are somfink special a cut above everyone else. So My Way is in a way about bein vain. Finkin bowt dat also made me fink of da Carly Simon song You're So Vain wot is sposed to be about annuva musical partnership wot was the subject of vanity – her record label boss David Gaffen. Phew!

@diamondbertie

Here I am nice and early, last weeks links were amazing, talk about great minds thinking alike. Robbie Williams sand My Way which as we know was Frank Sinatra's so I chose It Was a Very Good Year by Frank Sinatra which was also sung by Robbie Williams.

@wonderwinger
A super win last week by Bunbury & Harvey *much appaws*. Well done boys!
Last week we had My Way to which i say, woofing as a terrier who knows what she wants and when she wants it "There's No Other Way" by Blur.

@terenceterrier
My linky for dis week is “My Generation” by The Who to follow on from “My Way” by Robbie Williams. We came up wiv lotsa reasons. Both hav “My” in the title. Both songs have a similar theme in the lyrics. Roger Daltrey lead singer in The Who has lovely twinkly eyes like Robbie. Enuf sed!

@patchdacat
Last week winning linky was “My Way” by Robbie Williams so I looks for annuver singing Robbie & finds Robson Green who wiv his actor pal Jerome Flynn did have a big no 1 hit when they sung “Unchained Melody” which I chose as my linky

Dis extra snippety bit explains how it came about. Tis funny.

@kelsoterrier
Ok, a link to My Way by Robbie Williams. My Way has been covered many times by many artists but I personally like The Sex Pistols version the best. The Sex Pistols were a punk band who inspired many artists and one of these was Tom Robinson. As we all know it's either My Way or The Highway! The Highway is an American name for our Motorway so my link this week is 2 4 6 8 Motorway by The Tom Robinson Band.

@marleyterrier
We see that in lyrics to my way they is referrin to travellin each an every highway..so we duss fink that be difficult to do espeshully if the highway do be the highway to hell...

An the winner dis week .... as chosen by @bunnersandharvs ..... dus be  ........ @kelsoterrier wiv  2 4 6 8 Motorway! Nice linky Kels an dat put you in da lead of Da Chain Game! Fort I just say ....  I was a close second wiv Bertie a close third!!

Lexie's Chain: The Seventy-Sixth Chain

IMPAWTANT NOTE! IMPAWTANT! I GOT IT WRONG AN COCKED UP .. (again). Oh no I misread Patch's email and fort he said Radio by Robbie Williams wot was @wonderwinger. Wot he akchewly said was My Way by Robbie Williams from @bunnersandharvs. Apologies apologies pals so I am sorry Briar but I has to give da win to Bunners and Harvs in da interests of fair play. Please forgive me!

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 76 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to Patch to choose. Last week was Duran Duran and My Way.

 Let's see wot happened this week!
@terenceterrier
My linky for this week to follow on from "My Own Way" by Duran Duran is "My Way" by Ol' Blue Eyes Frank Sinatra. The song titles are similar and the singer in DD has blue eyes & so does Frank.

@wonderwinger
My Own Way by Duran Duran to which I'll be linking Radio by Robbie Williams. Why so, I hear you woof/miaow/snuffle...both have worked with Mark Ronson, Duran Duran on All You Need is Now & Robbie Williams on Rudebox. Well, this song was co written & produced by Stephen "Tin-Tin" Duffy one of the original founding members of Duran Duran. Also, both (lexie edit) somfink somfink somfink ... sorry i lost that bit!!

@bunnersandharvs
choosin da linky dis week has been a hard for dese paws but we decided to go wid da songy wong 'My Way but da modern vershun sung by Robbie Williams *does dance around* We dus it our way.... la la la doot dee da da... hee hee...

@bvfeyj
Duran Duran is almost as well known fur bideo as music. Dey was groundbreaking on MTV wiv professional directors & dey hab not only music bideos fur dey songs, but dey hab concert films and documentaries too, and wuz one ob da first to incorporate bideo into dere stage performances. Eben so, long before Duran Duran or MTV dis band did innovative bideo stuff dat hadn't been done before, so me does pick The Monkees wif I Wanna Be Free.

@diamondbertie
I bet I'm too late! Blame the sunshine, however, I shall submit  My Way by Frank Sinatra. Why The title is so similar at this rushed after thought that's what popped into my head.

@djladylexie
Duran Duran My Own Way video to go wiv da song was by the film director Russell Mulcahy. He also did successful videosfor similar bands in the 80's. This included the band Supertramp รข€¦ so my choice dus be Goodbye Stranger by Supertramp.

An the winner dis week .... as chosen by @patchdacat ..... dus be  ........ @bunnersandharvs with Robbie Williams an My Way Sorry Briar!!

Now is time to get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you bunners an harvs.

It's over to you! Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until noon (GMT) Sunday 24 June 2012. Sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title!

Lexie's Chain: The Seventy-Fifth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 75 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to Kelso to choose. Last week It's My Life by Talk Talk. Let's see wot happened this week!

@patchdacat
This week I choose a linky by Duran Duran - their hit single “My Own Way” which has a similar title/ theme to last week’s winning linky “It’s My Life”.  Also the group Talk Talk who sung last week’s linky are linked to Duran Duran. They were initialled associated with the New Romantic movement & compared with Duran Duran, as both bands’ name was a single word repeated, had Roxy Music-inspired musical direction, had same record label EMI and producer (Colin Thurston). When Duran Duran were on tour in late 1981 Talk Talk were a supporting act.

@diamondbertie
I try again for the chain, last week's winner was It's My Life by TalkTalk I listened to it many times and I keep thinking as it starts the tune from Moon River by Henry Mancini keeps popping into my head. Why not they are both songs of longing, The version I like best is Louis Armstrong.

@terenceterrier
My linky this week is “A Whiter Shade Of Pale” by Procol Harum. Howzat you say? Well Talk Talk is not only the name of a band but a telekommunikashuns companee. Annuver is Virgin. In dis songy there is a mention of “virgins” (*sings*...one of 16 vestal virgins leaving for the coast ....). Their first album was self titled “Procol Harum” and Talk Talk also had a self titled record. Also to be topical since it’s the Jubilee week, this record was declared joint winner of best British pop single 1952 – 1977 at the Brit Awards as part of Queen Elizabeth Silver Jubilee.

@bvfeyj
Last week @kelsoterrier did win wif a song called "It's My Life" byTalk, Talk. A good choice ob anuvver excellent linky from Kelso! Mommy being bery old, she remember anuvver song called "it's My Life" and she played it for me. Me liked it and fink it be a good linky cuz it da same name but a completely different song by somebody else altogether, so me does say... "It's My Life" by Eric Burdon & The Animals! (How can you not like & pick a song by a group called The Animals?? Arrrrrrooooo!)

@erettetkaninchen
My suggestion: Hunter from Portishead's Third. Paul Webb and Lee Harris from Talk Talk worked already in the middle of the 90ies with Beth Gibbons. In these days Portishead released there first album which got a big success. Portishead last album is their Third. And their best! Beth voice sounds heavenly at Hunter.

@borderpup
I had a fort for dis week's chain .... I choose 'Reward' by Teardrop Explodes, because Ian McCulloch did start off in a band wiv Julian Cope, who later went on to form Teardrop Explodes, and Echo & The Bunnymen did make their debut as a support act for them. Also, this song has one of the best opening lines we know of!!

@rosieterrier
Good songy Kelso, so, the song 'it's my life' was used in a Grand Theft Auto game and appeared on Flash FM radio station. Queen did sing a song called Flash about Mr Flash Gordon. From here I say that Gordon Sumner is Mr Sting's real name and he do be In The Police. So I choose their song 'Bring on the Night' as my linky dis week.

@wonderwinger
Mr Kelso did it again last week & wears the silver spurs of victory. Last week we had Talk Talk, who were originally inspired by Roxy Music. However, Talk Talk themselves later inspired a whole host of other bands from Elbow to The Verve to Portishead to Radiohead with their critically acclaimed Spirit of Eden album. Another such band provides my linky song: "Rabbit in your Headlights" by Unkle featuring Thom Yorke(of Radiohead). It samples the percussion from Talk Talk's song "New Grass" & Hollis from Talk Talk also played on the record.

@bunnersandharvs
So we dus be saying *high paws* to da cleva Kelso wid his selecshun fur last week's chainy. Now den, wots a paw to link from Rabbits to Talk Talk.... hee hee we says well why not da - Talking Heads and der songy wot do be called 'And She Was'. da world was mooving and she was right der wid it and she was...hey hey hey........

@marleyterrier
We see dat Kelso was chosin a song by Talk Talk. That did remind us that there is a internet company wot share the same name, Talk Talk. That did get us to finking about ow marvellous it is that all us anipals can communicate using the wonders of the web and wot a clever find that syence is. Therefore we do be finking abut an old song called She Blinded Me With Science by Thomas `dolby..

@djladylexie
Ok …… Talk Talk with It's My Life … Talk Talk also done the song . Life's What You Make It. The Divine Comedy did an acoustic version of Life's What You Make It so I chooses The Divine Comedy with National Express which is also a song about takin a look at life.

An the winner dis week .... as chosen by @kelsoterrier  ..... dus be  ........ @patchdacat wiv Duran Duran and My Own Way. Yay! Annuva great win ma pal ..you on a roll i fink!

So get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you Patch.

It's over to you! Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until noon (GMT) Sunday 17 June 2012. Sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title!

Lexie's Chain dus be inspired by da pawsome Radcliffe & Maconie Show wot you can has a listen to on dere website. Follow me @dogstoyevsky or #lexieschain on Twitter to join da fun. Remember anyfink goes! Rock, classical, opera, ballads, punk, reggae - is up to you! Fanx for playin!

Lexie's Chain: The Seventy-Fourth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 74 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to Patch to choose. Last week we ad Rabbit Rabbit by Chas N Dave. Let's see wot happened this week!

@terenceterrier and
@diamondbertie
For my linky to carry on from “Rabbit Rabbit” I am going to persevere wiv da wabbit theme. I select “Run Rabbit Run” by Flanagan & Allan.

@wonderwinger
A marvellous first win last week for @patchdacat , an inspiration to all those who ever thought about giving up...  Now then Chas n Dave played on the Labi Sifre track I Got The. Labi Sifre wrote the song It Must Be Love which was performed by Madness. The boys from Madness were renowned for their sense of fun just like Chas n Dave.

@parkerskat
I listened to the Rabbit song, hoping I could get some dinner. All I found was it was about a lady who talked too much, not furry rabbits at all. Hmph. So I recalled a fabulous Albert Collins tune, "Master Charge". Not only is this about ladies talking, it is about their spending. The blues picking by the Ice Man is outstanding.

@djladylexie
Okay … Chas N Dave played on Labi Sifre track. Eminem sampled that track, Eminem also sampled Dido's Thank You on his song Stan. Dido is the sister of Rollo who is da front man an creator of Faithless. So my linky is Faithless wiv Insomnia.

@bunnersandharvs
Patch da Cat did choose a very tough linky fur us paws but well done to him for such an excellent selekshun.... So now, we dun decided to go wid a singy song wot is called 'Trust Me To Open My Mouth by Squeeze. We made dis selekshun because dey (Squeeze) was influenced by da Chase & Dave and well also cause der songy was about da Rabbit which acshully was about some woman who kept on talking so we thort dat Squeeze singing about dem not being able to shut da big fat mouthy made da linky for us paws dis week. Hee hee!

@marleyterrier
i see Patch did be choosin a song called Rabbit....which is meanin torkin in Cockernee so we did fink bout other songs we kno bout torkin and altho it do B a bit close 2 ome we duss make R choice ths week Talkin Blues by Bob Marley.

@rettetkaninchen
My name is by Eminem. Why? Chas & Dave perfromed on the song "I Got The" of Labi Siffre. Eminem took the hook of this song for his "My name is".

@kelsoterrier
Ok, last week's winner was Chas & Dave with Rabbit. Chas & Dave are from Landaan and often use Cockney Rhyming slang in their songs. Rabbit for example means to talk a lot and comes from Rabbit & Pork...Talk. Another band from London who talk a lot are Talk Talk. So my song choice this week is my favourite Talk Talk song "It's my life". So there you go a London link and a talking link, roll up, roll up, two for the price of one, apples and pears, apples and pears :-)

@bvfeyj
Okay, because Chas & Dave did open for Led Zeppelin at the Knebworth Festival in 1979, me duz suggest da “Immigrant Song” by Led Zeppelin. (Mom say dat it her faborite tho me say Mom more like “Dazed & Confused” most ob da time!) We duz boaf think that “peace and trust can still win the day”!

@rosieterrier
Well done to Patchy. Dis week I feel a Jubilee theme and so from Chas n Dave's 'rockney' I have to say my linky be 'I'm Henry the eighth I am' by the original cockney croonster Harry Champion. So everyfur-paws in braces, knees up n sing-a-long.

An the winner dis week .... as chosen by @patchdacat  ..... dus be  ........ @kelsoterrier wiv Talk Talk an It's My Life. Yay! Annuva great win ma pal.

So get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you Kelso.

It's over to you! Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until noon (GMT) Sunday 10 June 2012. Sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title!
