Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Fifty Second Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 352 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was me wiph The Living Years from Mike an der Mechanics.  Let's see wot we gots this week:

@terenceterrier
Gawd help us dis be hard ! Clever Lexie winned da chainy wiv "The Living Years" by Mike and the Mechanics. Dis luvvly song tells us dat we can't tell fambly fings once dey dead so should while dey alive. But dat not rilly true cos on Halloween ( wot be tomorrow) da veil between dis werld n da spirit werld be very thin n can be parted n dey come to visit us. Dey do say to set an extra place at da table so dey can join yoo . So for my linky I gives yoo "Beyond The Veil " by Lindsey Stirling.

@skye613
Congrats to Lexie and Hi Dad! The beautiful " The Living Years" was written by Mike Rutherford & B.A.Robertson about their fathers who they had both lost & had unresolved issues. The loss of a father, to a son, is heartbreaking. But the loss of a son to a father maybe even more so. My link this week " Tears In Heaven" Eric Clapton wrote it for a movie but has said that it is about losing his son, Conor.

@claptonterrierHello Miss Lexie…last week our winner was a song by Mike & The Mechanics…I am not sure we ever really liked that band…so this week we are recommending a song about a superior type of car that would mean you would never need to hear from The Mechanics again…our linky this week is “Little Red Corvette” by Prince!

@diamondbertie
Not the best link but I still submit it because it has a similar snappy background beat, I found both so haunting, so here goes my choice is .....    drum roll .....Roger Whittaker s River Lady, I defy anyone listening to this song and not get a tear in there eye so indulge me and enjoy.

@maggietkat
Well done (cough) Lexie with Mike and the Mechanics doing Living Years. It reminded me of my friends and family coping with dementia.  I know this song has been on top100 lists and overplayed, but there is something about Elvis Costello's voice that describes the anguish for both the aging and the family.  Here is “Veronica”.

@sonikebt
Lovely song last week from Lexie with “The Living Years” by Mike & the Mechanics. We are going to stay with the Dad theme this week & choose the song that our Grandpa used to sing as his party piece. So we give you “Ae Fond Kiss” sung by the lovely Karen Matheson.

An da winner as chosen by ............... me dad ...................... dus be  .............................. Bertie. Well done me pal! You be choosing next week.

Ere wot the Dad said: Flippin eck this week is very hard they are all fantastic. Let me see *thinks* flippin eck! Ok, if I can just pick your mum up off the floor from bleeden crying here we go. They are all really great links. I was a big fan of Elvis Costello, and that's a great tune. I like number 1 for the link to all hallows eve. I like 3, oh and I don't like Mike and the Mechanics either! Your Mum was going on about Karen Matheson as she loves Capercaillie and Karen. The EC link is a lovely song and very moving.

Sooo after much deliberation I must say that any song with ships in it is going to win for me. So I'm going with Roger Whittaker and River Lady. Might have that on the speakers when we next sail Atlantis!

So now is over to you. Email me: lex[dot]dogstovesky @ gmail.com or DM me on 6th November 2017 (gets it to me by 10am UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!

Lexie's Chain dus be inspired by da pawsome Radcliffe & Maconie Show wot you can has a listen to on dere website. Follow me @dogstoyevsky or #lexieschain on Twitter to join da fun. Remember anyfink goes! Rock, classical, opera, ballads, punk, reggae - is up to you! Fanx for playin!

Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Fifty First Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 351 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was Skye wiph Pink an her dad When I See The Rain.  Let's see wot we gots this week:

@maggietkat
Well done Skye! I decided to go with rain and a duet.  This is Bob Seger and John Fogerty singing “Who'll stop the rain”.

@claptonterrier
Last week our winner was a duet between a daughter and her father...so we googled some songs about fathers...and our first link took us to a list of songs to be played on Father's Day...and you will never guess what the song at the top of the list was....Pap Dont Preach by Madonna....!! BOL and DOUBLE BOL... Anyhoo, it has to be our linky this week for that reason alone...

@terenceterrier
Larst week pal Skye winned da chainy wiv "I have seen the rain" sung by Pink n her Dad. So duss I look for annuva daughter / father combination? Frank n Nancy ? NAH dunnit before. Father and son combination praps? Yup I 'm on to it . "Father and Son" was written n sung originally by Cat Stevens. Later he changed his name to Yusuf. For my linky I gonna use dis song but keeping wiv da duet link again n dis time  use a vershun with a younger sprog Ronan Keating singing with Yusuf.

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Skye won wiv Pink and her dad singing When I see the rain. Pinks Dad James Moore wrote the song when he was serving in the Vietnam war. So we pick this song which was perhaps the most definitive Vietnam anti war song Barry McGuire Eve of Destruction.

@diamondbertie
Well done Skye, winning with I Have Seen The Rain. My choice is Billy Joel with Goodnight Saigon, why? the Vietnam connection turned my mind to this one.

@djladylexie
Well done Skye wiv dat Pink and her dad song. I'm going wiv songs about dads. Pink had the chance to sing wiv her dad but some never get the chance to tell our dads how wonderful they is. Me hudad is da bestest and I'm gonna tell him now *runrunrun* ok I ia back. This song is for all those that never got the chance. Mike and the Mechanics and The Living Years.

@sonikebt
Well done @syke613 for winning last week with “I have seen the rain” by Pink & her Dad. Our favourite song by our favourite band about our most favourite place in the world is about rain. Our link this week is “Tinseltown in the rain” by The Blue Nile.

An da winner as chosen by ............... Skye ...................... dus be  .............................. oh bum is me again so me dad dussin the choosin.

Ere wot Skye said: Such great choices this week and one of my faves. Numbers 1 & 3 very close, but number 6 wins. Great way to link and a beautiful tune.

So now is over to you. Email me: lex[dot]dogstovesky @ gmail.com or DM me on Monday 30th October 2017 (gets it to me by 10am UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Fiftieth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 350 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was Tel wiph Let's Dance from David Bowie and Freddy Mercury.  Let's see wot we gots this week:

@diamondbertie
Well done Terence with with winning Lets Dance with Tina Turner and David Bowie and lovely happy song, but I was a little sad too because it showed what an amazing talent David Bowie had. In the spirit of fun my choice is a real foot tapper. The intro to the TV series Happy Days, were we ever that innocent?

@skye613
So Sir Terence wins again! Woo Hoo! Going with duets today. Bowie & Tina Turner are both well known & famous. Only one member of this duet is famous but I couldn't resist. Not only is this the first time he's performed in public, he also wrote the song. Pink & her Dad. " I Have Seen The Rain"

@maggietkat
Well done T with let’s dance featuring David Bowie and Tina Turner. I love both artists but it is an unusual pairing. I remembered another odd pairing, Tony Bennett and Lady GaGa. Here they are doing “Cheek to Cheek” (dancing is the second link).

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Sir Terence won with Tina Turner and David Bowie and Let's Dance. In that song there is a line 'put on your red shoes' . So who else wore red shoes well Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz and here is Judy Garland singing Follow The Yellow Brick Road.

@djladylexie
Nice duet that one. There's blinkin loads of em! Tina wiv Bryan, Bryan wiv Barbra (Streisand), David with Freddie, Freddie wiv Montserrat. Hmmm wot to dus! Well for me is no brainer. Me goin wiv opera linky. What? Ang on but how? Well, Bowie's song was Changes was used in the Chicago rock opera Changes. Prolly one of the greatest rock singers ever was Freddie Mercury. Freddie sang wiv opera singer Montserrat wiv da fantastic Barcelona. There you goes. Opera be me linky see?

@claptonterrier (Tel didn't see this one I finks)
Hello Miss Lexie….last week our winner was Sir Terence and the song “lets Dance”…that made us think about songs about dancing….and then thinking about the dance called the Mashed Potatoes…we never quite understood why it was called that….but we are delighted to find that the dance has its own song…so this week our linky is Dee Deee Sharp and The Mashed Potatoe Time*!

An da winner as chosen by ............... Tel ...................... dus be  .............................. Skye! Yay. You choosin next week me pal.

Ere wot El Tel said: Ee by gum eck wot duss I choose ? I duss appawceat a well thought owt linky cos dat wot dat chainy all abowt. But I also likes a luvvly songy. When I read da linkies I woz sure it would be linky 5 cos wot winned cos it be very clever linky. I thought linky 2 be runner Up. Bowf followed da duet link. But afta I listens to dem all I chooses Pink wiv her Dad singing " I Have Seen The Rain" cos it be such a purrty song.

So now is over to you. Email me: lex[dot]dogstovesky @ gmail.com or DM me on Monday 23rd October 2017 (gets it to me by 10am UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Forth Ninth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 349 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was Maggie wiph I'm Telling You Now from Freddie and the Dreamers.  Let's see wot we gots this week:

@diamondbertie
Well done Maggie with I’m Telling You Now.I thought and thought I thought funny dancing I decided to go for Joyce Grenfell with Old Time Dancing (Stately as a Galleon) we need to smile in these sad times.

@terenceterrier
Last week Miss Maggie win wiv "I'm Telling You Now " in a video wiv Freddie and The Dreamers / Frankie Avalon doing a strange dance. So I looks for a linky on da dance theme n wiv 2 artists performing together and I give yoo Tina Turner and David Bowie performing "Let's Dance" live. Ps. Whilst doing my research I did find video of "The Chicken Dance" wiv Mr Bean, Mr Obama n Justin Bieber wot also fitted my criteria but since some of yoo may be of a sensitive disposition I fort it best to pass on it.

@cloonfourmegan
Last week clever Maggie won with Frankie Avalon singing I'm telling you now. Frankie A was in the movie of Grease famously singing Beauty School Dropout. But we pick our favourite song from the film oh yes it's Greased Lightning!

@skye613
Congrats to Maggie! Freddie & the Dreamers were part of the Merseybeat sound, although they hailed from Manchester. Many great bands & artists came/ come from Manchester including one of my early favs The Hollies. Link this week .... " Look Through Any Window." Staying with the oldies! Enjoy.

@sonikebt
Well done Maggie for the winning link “I’m telling you now” by Freddie and the Dreamers with Frankie Avalon. What Freddie was “telling you” was that he was in love. Eric Stewart from 10cc thought that if he kept saying I Love You to his wife over & over that it would mean nothing, even though he did love her. This was the idea behind 10cc’s hit, and our link this week, “I’m Not in Love”

@djladylexie
Well done Maggie! Freddie and the Dreamers. Freddie - Freddie Garrity - once worked as a milkman in Manchester. The most famous milkman song must be Ernie, he drove the fastest milk cart in the west you know!

An da winner as chosen by ............... Maggie ...................... dus be  .............................. El Tel! Yay. You choosin next week me pal.

Ere wot Maggie said: What wonderful links! After some deliberation, my choice is Tina Turner and David Bowie with Let's Dance.

So now is over to you. Email me: lex[dot]dogstovesky @ gmail.com or DM me on Monday 16th October 2017 (gets it to me by 10am UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Forty Eighth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 348 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was Megan wiph Queen and Bohemian Rhapsody.  Let's see wot we gots this week:

@maggietkat
Well done with the head banger version of Bohemian Rhapsody, laughed until I piddled.  How could any choice follow that? How about honoring Freddie Mercury? There is a short lived dance craze called The Freddie. Here is Freddie and the Dreamers with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello doing “I’m Telling You Now’.

@tclaptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie….last week our winner was the song Bohemian Rhapsody…..and now as I have given up all hope of ever picking a winning link again I am choosing the song “Bohemian Like You” by the Dandy Warhols in the hope that some of the magic might rub off on my linky…..*desperate ears*

@terenceterrier
Larst week Dame Megan ( she's da floofy sister wivowt da big bum - allegedly) winned wiv " Bohemian Rhapsody " from da Wayne's World movie. For my linky dis week I gives yoo "Rule The World by Take That n da vershun I chooses is dem performing live at da London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony. How duss I link dem I hear yoo all ask. Well it's complicated. I takes a very long n torturous route where I shows I can get from one to da other n it would probs make Lexie's paws drop off from doing all da typing. So Take That explanayshun (geddit ! ) n believe me.

@skye613
Congrats to Megan winning with Wayne's World last week! So Mom did immediately think of Carpool Karaoke. Our linky this week is Sia and James Corden! Gotta stick with singing in da car!

@djladylexie
Is dis da real life? Is dis just fantasy? Well good questions me finks. Probably one of the worst covers ever of dis most amazin song has got to be William Shatner - even though it's quite good in some strange way. Anyhoo he has done loads of em, one of our faves does be Common People. Of course, the awesome Jarvis Cocker was the original singer of da song wiv his band Pulp. Well so that is me linky Common People from Pulp.

An da winner as chosen by ............... Megan ...................... dus be  .............................. Maggie! Yay. You choosin next week me pal.

Ere wot Megan said: It’s me Megan wiv da small bum! I put on my judging wig and do have carefully examined the very good entries this week. I was tempted to give the sympathy vote to Linky 2 but I just can’t resist ‘doing the Freddie’ so my choice is Linky 1

So now is over to you. Email me: lex[dot]dogstovesky @ gmail.com or DM me on Monday 9th October 2017 (gets it to me by 10am UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!
