Lexie's Chain: The Fifty-First Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 51 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to @diamondbertie (Bertie) to choose da winner. Now then, also, please note that next week dus be one year anniversary since Lexie's Chain began so watch out for speshul spot prizes!!

So, last week da winning linky was Troika from Lieutenant Kije Suite by Prokofiev. Now dat is a hard linky!! Let's see wot ideas come in dis week.

@marleyterrier
Sting used the melody from the Romance of Lieutenant Kijé in the chorus of his 1985 song Russians He also did write a album called "On a Winters Night" wot feature the song "The Hurdy-Gurdy Man". The Hurdy Gurdy is a instrument and Canadian band Arcade Fire uses a hurdy-gurdy on their album Neon Bible. Notable tracks featuring the use of a hurdy gurdy are Black Mirror and Keep The Car Running. So we do nommynate Keep the Car Runnin....

@patchdacat
My linky to follow “Troika” is “Lara’s Theme from the film Dr Zhivago. Troika is a Russian word & Dr Zhivago was Russian.

@terenceterrier
Az everywun will kno (at least those doing their internets search) a troika is a sled or carriage pulled by three horses all abreast. So we continues dis theme wiv annuva sled but dis time since it is Chrismus pulled by reindeers. So the linky for dis week is the song “Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer” It was Chrismus numba 1 hit in 1949 and haz been recorded since by lots of peeps but we want to hear the version by Alvin and the Chipmunks.

@rettetkaninchen
after two cups of coffee I got an idea. Eisbär by Grauzone Why? To pick an even more wintry song I choose "polar bear" (Eisbär). Merry Christmas all! =:X)

@bvfeyj (Tucker)
Last week we had Troika which hab been used by many musicians and film-makers particularly for Christmas or snow scenes. It was used by Greg Lake for his song “I Believe in Father Christmas” which was performed by Emerson, Lake and Palmer who also recorded Troika for da “I Believe in Father Christmas” album. So dis week me submit “I Believe in Father Christmas” by Greg Lake (wif a prayer for peace and return to true spirit ob Christmas instead ob secular commercialism). Merry Christmas and may we indeed find clear road to peace and love for all in da New Year!

me found bunches on you tube but dis one had best sound though da bideo stupid
“I Believe in Father Christmas” by Greg Lake.

dis one is live performance by "old" Greg Lake & it not too bad
I Believe in Father Christmas performed by Greg Lake during 2005 tour.

@kelsoterrier
Troika is such a wintry Christmassy song that I thought I would link to another song synonymous with Christmas so my choice this week is Slade with Merry Christmas Everybody. Oh, and while I'm here, Merry Christmas Everybody!

@bunnersandharvs
So we be thinking hard about wot da bertie chose dis week and well bertie and dat typist is equally full of smarts so we said is abowt winter moosic and it dus make us think bowt Chrissymus so we dus go wid.... Sleigh Bells gitty up, gitty up let's go, let's look at the show we're ridding in a wonderland of snow! hee hee dus make us think of da cold and da winter time.... Woohoo

@borderpup
The last tune was Troika from Lieutenant Kije by Prokoviev. This tune was used by Greg Lake of Emerson Lake and Palmer for 'I believe in Father Christmas'. I fink we're about due for some prog rock, so I choose 'Lucky Man' by ELP.

@djladylexie
Troika is a russian folk dance where a man dances wiv two womens. Russian folk history is linked very closely wiv gypsy music too. Many of the dance were based around the Russian gypsy life of a nomadic life. I has chosen Gypsy by Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac coz of how she felt before she was famus of being in Fleetwood Mac – like a gypsy.

Da winner .. as chosen by ... @diamondbertie ... dus be .... well ere be wot Bertie said:

What a choice! each one deserved to win, I did narrow it down to 2,  Lara's Theme is so gorgeous and romantic a theme once heard never forgotten, and Sleigh Ride by Ella Fitzgerald has the get up and go we need after all that food.   At the end I have to settle for Ella Fitzgerald's Sleigh Ride, why, I hope and believe it will attract more links to the chain.

so the winner dus be @bunnersandharvs! Yay!! Well done my pals and a close second by @patchdacat!
So, is time again get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you b&h!

So, it's over to you! Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until noon (GMT) Sunday 1 January 2012 (wot dis be new year's day wiv speshul prize announcements!) I also wants to tell you sometime they dussnt always seem to come frew, so double-check wiv me bout dat. Errr ... oh and sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea for dat is wot Tucker dus -- type DO NOT DELETE in the title! Ha-haaaaa - works though!

Lexie's Chain dus be inspired by da pawsome Radcliffe & Maconie Show wot you can has a listen to on dere website. Follow me @dogstoyevsky or #lexieschain on Twitter to join da fun. Remember anyfink goes! Rock, classical, opera, ballads, punk, reggae - is up to you! Fanx for playin!

Lexie's Chain: The Fiftieth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 50 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to @bvfeyj (Tucker) to choose da winner.

So, last week da winning linky was Cold As Ice by Foreigner. Let's see wot ideas come in dis week.

@terenceterrier
For my linky this week to follow on from “Cold as Ice” by Foreigner I am selecting another song from the 70’s . This is “Bette Davis Eyes” written by Donna Weiss / Jackie DeShannon. I select the version recorded by Kim Carnes. The lyrics include the phrase “she’s as cold as ice” .

@zoetheborder
Well, dis dus be easy den, because in Foreigner, der dus be someone I fink I did read dat song dat won was "Cold as Ice" by Foreigner. called Mick Jones. An I dus fink der was also sumone named Mick Jones in The Clash, which dus be one of my Mom's favourite bands of all time. Is hard to choose one Clash song because she likes so many, but maybe we choose "Lost in the Supermarket", because supermarkets dus haf frozen sections where you wud find fings dat dus be "As Cold as Ice".

@marleyterrier
So, we starts wiv Cold as Ice by Foreigner. One of da men in Foreigner is Mick Jones. Mick Jones is also a member of The Clash along wiv Joe Strummer. My favourit band in Cream. Who like da cream? Well, cats always got da cream which lead me to singer Cat Power. She did a nice record called The Greatest. Who was da greatest? Well, it was Muhammed Ali or Cassius Clay as he was known. Concrete and Clay was a hit long time ago by UK band Unit 4 + 2. It was number one in 1965 and was succeeded at No.1 by Cliff Richard and preceded by the Rolling Stones who feature Keith Richards. So our entry is The Last Time by The Stones.

@patchdacat
My link for this week is “White Christmas” sung by Bing Crosby. Why you say ? Well last week the the track was “Cold as Ice” and snow is just as cold as ice (althought snowflakes are much prettier & fun to chase) The track I’ve chosen is all about wanting a lot of snow for Christmas so it is very appropriate for this time of year.

@djladylexie
Cold As Ice was from their self-titled album 'Foreigner' whch also included the hit Feels Like The First Time – both written by Mick Jones. Before forming Foreigner in 1976, he was a singer and session musician for many famus artists. He co-wrote a song one Eric Clapton called "Bad Love, also bout cold hearted woman. So dat is ma linky!

@bvfeyj
Dis week me say "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas. Why? Last week we got "Cold as Ice" by Foreigner cuz dey did tour wif Def Leppard in 2007. Da same tour Styx also toured wif dem. In 2010 Styx and Foreigner again toured togevver and headlined "United in Rock" dis time wif special guest Kansas. Dis is da link wif Kansas & "Dust in the Wind" is me faborite Kansas song.

@I_am_fuzzy
it's nearly christmas, so i have to pick a christmasy song so i've chosen tom jones & cerys matthews 'baby its cold outside' obviously it's about being cold but also at the end she says 'it's bloody freezing isn't it?' which always makes me laugh & ice is freezing!

@icypinklemonade
My entry is off the name of last weeks winner, "cold as ice" as soon as I saw that I thought of ice ice Baby by vanilla ice! Bringin' it back old school.

@superchowchow
Sugar by System of a Down

@bunnersandharvs
oh dat Tucker is a cleva one so we did thort about dis and well you know is almost chrissymus and well is also veeerrry cold. Hrmm so then we dus be tippy tap tap tappin our paws to "Let it snow" by Dean Martin and we thort aha dis is fun! So dat dus be our singy wongy fur da week. doodle dooty doot toot too doo - Let it snow, let it snow, let it SNOW!

@kelsoterrier
Ok, Mick Jones has been the only permanent fixture in Foreigner during its many years of existence. Another iconic musical Mick Jones Is Mick Jones from The Clash. If water is as cold as ice then it must be below the freezing point of water which is zero degrees on the celcius scale. Zero degrees longitude when talking about time zones is also known as the Greenwich Meridian because it runs through Greenwich in London. Which brings me to my choice of The Clash with London's Calling and, as chance would have it the song contains the lyrics "the ice age is coming" which would also be as cold as ice.

@wonderwinger
Moving on from Foreigner's Cold as Ice: Foreigner's guitarist was Mick Jones. Mick Jones married the socialite Ann Dexter-Jones mother if Mark Ronson. Mark Ronson produced Amy Winehouse's Back to Black album. On this album is the single, Rehab. I believe that when you are in rehab there are times when you feel as cold as ice so my link is Rehab by Amy Winehouse.

@diamondbertie
Last week was Cold as Ice, that made me think of "winter music"so I choose Troika from Lieutenant Kije Suite by Prokofiev.

Da winner .. as chosen by ... @bvfeyj ... dus be .... @diamondbertie ith Troika!. Yay!! Well done ma pal!

So, is time again get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you Bertie!

So, it's over to you! Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until noon (GMT) Sunday 25 December 2011 (wot dis be christmas day!) I also wants to tell you sometime they dussnt always seem to come frew, so double-check wiv me bout dat. Errr ... oh and sometimes I dus accidentally delete em!

Lexie's Chain: The Forty-Ninth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 49 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to @kelsoterrier to choose da winner.

So, last week da winning linky was Pour Some Sugar On Me By Def Leppard. Let's see wot ideas come in dis week.

@maggietkat
The only thing I can come up with this week is that 90% of you have dirty minds! Sugar on your mama indeed! So, here is a #nipclub favorite, "Dirty Minds" by Here Come the Mummies.

@tartan_terriers
Def Leppard are from Sheffield as are the band we have chosen. We going with Pulp - Do you remember the first time? Mums last dog was called Jarvis after Pulps lead singer, Jarvis Cocker!

@diamondbertie and @bunnersandharvs
Bertie: My idea for this week's chain is Sugar Sugar by the Archies. Why, I am ignorant about music so I use the the noun sugar in the title to be the link, and this song make me smile.
BunnersandHarvs: this week we thort we wuld go on wid da cleva kelso ta sayz r chainy iz 'Sugar, Sugar...' by da Archies (linky iz here) cus we dus luv all r candy girls on da tweety deck and we dus think eva one on da deck is a honey honey too!! hey let's dancy to da tuny woon.... oh sugar ah, honey honey.... poor a little sugar on it honey!

@kelsoterrier
Ok, dis week iz Pour Some Sugar On Me by Def Leppard. Well if u pour sugar on stuff it makes it Sweet. A leopard (Leppard) iz an animal and so Iz a Fox (Grrr, bark, bark). So my linky dis week iz (The) Sweet with Fox On The Run (yeah, ud better run Mr Foxy! Grrr ;-). Linky to video (bring back TOTP! but err maybe not da 70's fashion ;-)

@terenceterrier
Using the word SUGAR to link from this week’s selection “Pour some sugar on me” to mine which is the song “A Spoonful of Sugar (makes the medicine go down) “ from the Walt Disney film Mary Poppins & sung by Julie Andrews.

@patchdacat
To follow on from “Pour some sugar on me” this week for my link I shall inject a bit of class into the proceedings and select “The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” which was composed by P. Tchaikowsky with the glass armonica in mind . William Zeitler uses this instument & has this piece is on his album “Crystal Christmas” so is an appropriate seasonal selection too.

@djladylexie
I choose Cream by Prince. Like Pour Some Sugar On Me, Cream is about sexy fings wiv a lady! And Cream has got Sugar in it! Oh and Prince is like a mini-leopard in all his leapardy leggins! Simples!!

@wonderwinger
Moving on from the wonders of Def Leppard's Pour Some Sugar on Me, my linky is of a sweet nature. I've chosen Brown Sugar by The Rolling Stones. The Rolling Stones are also tenuously linked to my mum, as she went to Dartford Girls Grammar School where as Mick Jagger went to the Boys' version across the road.

@bvfeyj (Tucker)
Dis week me nominates "Cold As Ice" by Foreigner. Why? Last week we haz Def Leppard which is English band formed in 1977 & has many links to lots ob uvver groups. Foreigner was formed in 1976 by an Englishman but half ob da band was American while half was English which is why he named dem Foreigner. Dey also hab lots ob links to uvver groups. How dey link togevver is dat in 2007 dey did tour togevver in U.S. & Canada for da two disc deluxe edition re-release ob Def Leppard's "Hysteria"album which contained "Pour Some Sugar On Me" (see how dat link? hehehe). It was also the 30th anniversary ob da release ob Foreigner's debut album from which we get "Cold As Ice". So dat link boaf bands and boaf songs!

Da winner .. as chosen by ... @kelsoterrier... dus be .... @bvfeyj (Tucker)! Yay!! Well done ma pal!

So, is time again get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you Tucker (@bvfeyj)!

So, it's over to you! Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until noon (GMT) Sunday 18 December 2011. I also wants to tell you sometime they dussnt always seem to come frew, so double-check wiv me bout dat. Errr ... oh and sometimes I dus accidentally delete em!

Lexie's Chain: The Forty-Eighth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 48 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to @tartan_terriers to choose da winner.

So, last week da winning linky was Tie Your Mother Down by Queen. Let's see wot ideas come in dis week.
@i_am_fuzzy
my human saw queen in london (& saw THE queen in town, but anyway) in 17bf & one of the support acts was the alarm so my linky is 68 guns.

@wonderwinger
Right so, Tie your Mother Down by Queen got me thinking, what other activities one could do with one's mama: take her rabbiting maybe or perhaps rolling in something smelly. However, there don't appear to be any songs about such fun times... Then I had a sudden flash of inspiration "pwow"... Brian May & Roger Taylor appeared with The Darkness at the Hammersmith Apollo at the end of November this year. They performed Tie Your Mother Down together but they also performed my linky entry The Darkness' hit I Believe in a Thing Called Love. It's Christmas (nearly) so let's all believe in love, I know I do.

@terenceterrier
My linky to follow on from Queen’s “Tie Your Mother Down” is staying with the bondage theme and I am selecting “Tie Me Kangeroo Down, Sport” by Rolf Harris

@patchdacat
Link needed to follow on from “Tie your mother down” by Queen.  I shall use word Queen as link and select the track “God Save the Queen” by the Sex Pistols.

@kelsoterrier
Ok, this week was Tie Your Mother Down by Queen. At the Freddie Mercury tribute concert Joe Elliot of Def Leppard & Slash performed this song. Def Leppard were formed in 1977 which is the same year Tie Your Mother down was released as a single. Tie Your Mother Down is a funny title for a song so I have chosen a funny titled song from Def Leppard as my link which is the excellent Pour Some Sugar on Me.

@bunnersandharvs
we dus did chose Your Mama Don't Dance and Your Daddy Don't Rock and Roll rilly we dus did choose dis cause how culd ur ma dance if she wus tied down? dis is wot queen did last week! hee hee so iz simples....

@bvfeyj
dis week we stick wif mothers... "Mama Told Me Not to Come" by Three Dog Night.

@rettetkaninchen
Add it up from Violent Femmes - Why? The guitar riff of "Tie your Mother down" is inspired by the verse riff from T.Rex's song "Funky London Childhood". T-Rex most famous song is "Children of the Revolution". Violent Femmes covered this song. "Add it up" is one of their greatest songs.

@djladylexie
I has picked Scissor Sisters – Take Your Mama Out – why tie her down?!! Better to give her a good night out! Oh an Scissor Sisters are great live on stage just like Queen!

Da winner .. as chosen by ... @tartan_terriers ... dus be .... @kelsoterrier wiv Def Leppard's Pour Some Sugar On Me. Yay!! Well done ma pal!! Deja Vu!!!!
So, is time again get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you @kelsoterrier!
So, it's over to you! Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until noon (GMT) Sunday 11 December 2011. I also wants to tell you sometime they dussnt always seem to come frew, so double-check wiv me bout dat. Errr ... oh and sometimes I dus accidentally delete em!

Lexie's Chain: The Forty-Seventh Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 47 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to @kelsoterrier to choose da winner.

So, last week da winning link was Rio by Duran Duran. Let's see wot ideas come in dis week.

Oh I fort also I tell you dat I list them in order of how them come in and also when da winner selects the next winner, they dussn't know who it is, coz of I take they names off!

@terenceterrier
Doin my linky quick before I forgets my spark of inspirayshun. Last week the winna wuz the track Rio by Duran Duran. Rio wuz a boat so I look for anuver boat song. I choose “Day-O / Banana Boat Song” by Harry Belafonte

@djladylexie
Rio is a song about both a boat and a place – Rio De Janeiro which is the capital of Brazil. So I chose Brazil by Geoff Muldaur wot dus be used in the film Brazil by Terry Gilliam. Simon Le Bon dreamed of sailin and wrote da song for it – Rio. Like Simon, Sam in Brazil dreams of a place where life is perfect and he can live the life he dreams of.

@i_am_fuzzy
I choose 'the lost girl in the midnight sun' by the lilac time. the singer stephen duffy was a founder member of duran duran before they became famous, and before simon le bon bon joined.

@patchdacat
After much pondering for link to follow “RIO” by Duran Duran I finally decide that because RIO was a yacht I am staying with the sea faring theme. The Sutherland Bros Band released an album called “Lifeboat”. One track on this album was “Sailing”. This was also recorded by Rod Stewart for his album “Atlantic Crossing” so I am choosing his version as the link this week.

@tartan_terrriers
So we have Rio by Duran Duran... Ok, we going for Queen cause both Duran Duran and Queen have drummers called Roger Taylor! Queen performed at the first ever Rock in Rio festival in Rio de Janeiro in 1985 so thats the link, now the song... Tie your mother down by Queen. ;)

@bvfeyj (Tucker)
"Too Shy" by Kajagoogoo. Why? Cuz we can't pronounce it! BOL But really cuz was produced by Nick Rhodes ob Duran, Duran. So dat me linky!

@rosieterrier
Hello - well we start with Duran Duran's RiO which is of course, a river songy. Another rivery song do be Robbie Robertson - Somewhere down the Crazee river. Continuing with the watery theme the next link do be Jimmy Cliff and his Many Rivers to cross (also by Culture Club but we won't mention dat!) and so to my last link and my ansa: Jimmy Cliff-Wondeful World Beautiful People. Cos that's all of us.

@diamondbertie
Rio Grande by Dave Alvin - why? Nice song which has Rio in it's title and the words "Rio Grande" are in the song by Duran Duran RIO

@bunnersandharvs
we dus says that da chainy wainy dis week is justin timberlake's 'seniorita'. We dus says it becauz he wus influenced by dem Duran Duran guys wot like and den he did singy a songy wong much like Rio Rio wher he did like did woman and all that stuff wid dem peepers flirtin with em they wot dus says she is da one fur him ragardless of anything cus dey did look at each odder and wus in LOVE - aw...

@marleyterrier
This week we be selectin She Wolf by Shakira. We ben watchin the wolves on Froxen Plannit all week and we notiss that Hungry Like The Wolf was also on the Rio album by Dooran Dooran and i always do be ungry an do like owlin (i took off da reference to Lola coz uvvawise Kelso wud know it was you!)

Da winner .. as chosen by ... @kelsoterrier ... dus be .... @tartan_terriers wiv Tie Your Mother Down by Queen! Yay!! Well done ma pals!!!

So, is time again get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you @tartan_terriers!

So, it's over to you! Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until noon (GMT) Sunday 4 December 2011. I also wants to tell you sometime they dussnt always seem to come frew, so double-check wiv me bout dat. Errr ... oh and sometimes I dus accidentally delete em!

Lexie's Chain: The Forty-Sixth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 46 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to @tartan_terriers to choose da winner.

So, last week da winning link was Cat Stevens wiv I Love My Dog. Let's see wot ideas come in dis week.

Oh I fort also I tell you dat I list them in order of how them come in and also when da winner selects the next winner, they dussn't know who it is, coz of I take they names off!

@i_am_fuzzy
if you love your dog, as cat stevens does they'd be 'hounds of love' & if you couldn't find a lamp-post then maybe you'd pee up a bush......so i choose kate bush - 'hounds of love'.

@diamondbertie
I choose Me and You and a Dog Named Boo by Lobo (I think James Last did it too). Why? Cat Stevens' I love my dog is a love song dedicated to his dog and so is my choice Me and You and a Dog Named Boo. My thinking cap finally came up with a link that I like.

@bvfeyj
Dis week me stay wif da dog theme. Me suggest "Me and You and a Dog Named Boo" by Lobo Dat's it, bery simple. "Me and You and a Dog Named Boo" by Lobo.

@terenceterrier
Linky wanted for “I love my dog” by Cat Stevens. This was a record released in the swinging sixties so will be sticking with the same era & and also the feline theme. My choice this week is “What’s New Pussycat” by Tom Jones.

@border_pup
Dis week we has to do a linkie to 'I love my dog'. Well, I fink it should stay top for annuver week cos it is grate! But if not, I dus choose 'Atlantis' by Donovan. Why? Because Cat Stevens did make an album called 'Tea for the Tillerman'. A tillerman steers a boat. Anyfing nautical dus make me fink of ma beeuwtiful friend, Lady Lexie, who has a boat called .... Atlantis!

@marleyterrier
my entry for da chain dus be Turn Your Lights down Low by da Bob Marley. Ow is dat I ere you ask? Well, I Love My Dog was released as a single wiv Portobello Road as a B Side. Portobello Road is in Notting Hill and dat Bob Marley track feature on soundtrack for Notting Hill.

@patchdacat
Last week’s winna wuz “I love my dog” by Cat Stevens. Cos I’m a cat I am loyally sticking wiv the cat theme. I am choosin a song from the mewsical “Cats” by Andrew Lloyd Webber . Mi link do be “Memory” which iz a bootiful song.

@bunnersandharvs
we dus says the chainy dis week is simple like wot last week but hope is eqwally good as @tartan_terriers 's selecshun. We dus says is da Beatles All You Need is Love cus dat wot we dus be about and we dus think that is all da world shuld be abowt too!

@rosieterrier
Okay so happily dis week da beautiful chain does lead me to my favouritist song eva! So here goes. Mr Cat Stevens singing bout his dog love puts me in terrier mind of Mel Blanc's 'I taut I saw a Puddy Tat' cos traditionally da dogs n da cats do not get along. Of course this is a song for puppies n young 'uns so another great and classic song for 'em does be My Brother by the late n great Terry Scott (Ed Stewpot-eat your heart out). Going on with children's songs next is 3 blind mice by The Chipmunks Soooo now we come to my ansa for da chain -another novelty song and the best ----The Gnu Song by Flanders and Swann.

@kelsoterrier
Ok, Cat Stevens and I love my dog. Well Cat Stevens was very religious and converted to Islam and I love my do iz an anagram of godly movie so I got a religious theme going. A godly movie that comes to mind is the excellent City of God which was based in Rio. So my choice is Rio by Duran Duran.

@djladylexie
Ok Cat Stevens sung I Love My Dog. So Cat Stevens has a name wot involves an animal = a cat and his love for a dog. So I fort abowt an artist who has name wot is a dog = Snoop Dogg and he dun a song wiv Pussy Cat Dolls! So there's more dog and cat linkies ! I pick Buttons by The Pussycat Dolls ft. Snoop Dogg!

Da winner .. as chosen by ... @tartan_terriers ... dus be .... @kelsoterrier wiv Rio by Duran Duran. Yay!! Well done ma pal!!!

So, is time again get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you Kelso!

So, it's over to you! Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until noon (GMT) Sunday 27 November 2011. I also wants to tell you sometime they dussnt always seem to come frew, so double-check wiv me bout dat. Errr ... oh and sometimes I dus accidentally delete em!

Lexie's Chain: The Forty-Fifth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 45 of #lexieschain. Dis week was down to Tucker (@bvfeyj) to choose da winner. So, last week da winning link was Sammy Davis Jr wiv Mr Bojangles. Let's see wot ideas come in dis week:

@i_am_fuzzy
I ice-skated to (neil diamond's version of) mr. bojangles....it's on u-toobe - i'm also a brilliant dancer *cough* & danced... with lippe to abba's 'chiquitita' (also on u-toobe) we had to send the human out of the room in the end because she kept... whistling along to it while we tried to dance! so unprofessional *sigh* (at least she wasn't singing!! phew!!) er, is it obvious i choose abba and chiquitita.

@maggietkat
Mr. Bojangles was covered by Sammy Davis, Jr., and also by Harry Belafonte. Mom sways in time to the music and makes us try to tap our paws! the indignity! Belafonte covered a song that also makes Mom want to dance, luckily without us (she thinks she's on Dancing with the Stars). It is from a Portugese movie, Black Orpheus, and is titled "Maña De Carnaval". It also know in the US as "Carnival" or "A Day in the Life of a Fool". I have 2 links for this song, one by Belafonte and one from our favorite female vocalist, Cassandra Wilson.

@tartan_terriers
Well Mr. Beau Jangles was about a man and his dog so how about Cat Stevens - I love my dog. We love it!

@bvfeyj
Me was working on linky for Mr. Bojangles by Sammy Davis Jr. Dat was written by Jerry Jeff Walker an' he was friend ob Willie Nelson who did mention him in da song Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love). Dere was some more stuff about dem & some uffer people and me was finkin' hard about which way to go wif dis when me accidentally stumbled upon dis song bideo. It kinda a linky (if you watch at da end it mention Mr. Bojangles on da screen but not in da audio), but mostly me picks it cuz me fort it be so funny and finked me pals might enjoy it but probly wouldn't see it cause it not so famous or popular, so me gib you da linky soes u can watch it & hopes you enjoys it like me did! So dis week me submit "Damn Them Old Songwriters" by Jim Cave. Me hope you enjoys it!

@kelsoterrier
Right, this week gotta find a link to Sammy Davis Jnr & Mr Bojangles. Well, MrBojangles is a song about a man who used to travel round country fairs with his dog and dance. It is very sad though coz his dog died and he became a lonely hobo-type dancing in bars for tips and drinks. This made me think of dogs and hobos which immediately brought to mind the TV show "The Littlest Hobo" about a travelling dog and his adventures. So my link is the theme tune from that show wot be Maybe Tomorrow by Terry Bush.

@borderpup
Loada peeps has recorded it, one famously was Bob Dylan. So mum did choose a Dylan song from back in da day - when Dylan was on tour and her then boyfriend went to the concert at Blackbushe wivout taking her pfffft - not that she bears a grudge or nuffink! The album out at the time was Street Legal, and she chooses 'Baby Stop Crying' from dat album.

@bunnersandharvs
whewie dat Tucker is rilly challenging to da brainy cells... hee Anyway, we dus says that Frank Sinatra's The Lady is a Tramp. We dus went wif dis because Frankie did singy Mr Bogangles as did da Sammy Davis Jr and den da Andrews Sistas wot wus on Frankie's show once too so we dus think ok den Mr Bogangles wus in jail so he wus a norty person so dat must mean he wuld like ta hang out wid da tramp in dis singy song too! hee hee!

@diamondbertie
My entry this week is Louis Armstrong's Wonderful World
Why? Mr Bojangles was from New Orleans, and so was Louis Armstrong the song is lovely. I did consider the other members of the Rat Pack only to lean towards Louis.

@patchdacat
Linky needed for the track Mr Bojangles sung by Sammy Davis Jnr. Now a lot of youmight not know this but Mr Bojangles was the name of a fictional dog (well bitch actually – don’t ask – too complicated) who appeared in a sketch in the TV show Saturday Night Live . The other dog in the sketch was called Mr Rocky Balboa. Rocky Balboa was the title of the 6th film in the Rocky series starring Sylvester Stallone. The film had several music tracks one of which was the song “High Hopes” sung by Frank Sinatra. “The Rat Pack” was a term used by journalists for a famous group of friends in New York which included (in the 60’s version ) Frank Sinatra & Sammy Davis Jnr so we can linkify the two singers though this. So my choice for linky is “High Hopes” by Ol’ Blue Eyes.

@rossi_dog
Evening all! Loved da song about Mr Bojangles so much - seems 'e was a dancing type but a bit down on 'is luck. Dis made me fink of Mr Astaire who was a great, great dancer (though always v. spiffingly turned out). Mum luvs his movies 11/10 and can't stop smiling when they're on. So may we suggest 'No Strings' from the wonderful film Top Hat - enjoy the song and dance, and the percussion added by things in the room that he bashes as 'e flies past. See Ginger Rogers tie on da most glamorous dressing gown ever. And if you don't go rushing to yer DVD cupboard to get film outwhen Fred says 'Hello!' I'll eat my (Top) hat! xxxx good luck Chainsters xxxx

@rettetkaninchen
Nina Simone with "My baby just cares for me". Why? Nina covered Mr Bojangles like Sammy Davis Jr did. And both supported the civil rights movement in the USA.

@djladylexie
I chooses Pure Imagination by Anthony Newley. Why? Sammy Davis Jr sang a song wot called The Candy Man wot was in da movie Willy Wonka. The song was written by Anthony Newley who was an actor, singer and songwriter form England. He also wrote dis one wot was in da movie as well.
