Lexie's Chain: The Hundred and Fifteenth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to week 115 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner wos Tucker aka @bvfeyj wiv While My Guitar Gently Weeps George Harrison/Eric Clapton. So lets see wot we got dis week.

@skye613
Congrats to Tucker! Well done pal. Tucker says Eric Clapton has played with everybody.True dat! We know from winning linky that Eric was friends with George Harrison who was friends with some way cool other people , Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison & Tom Petty, who formed the supergroup " The Traveling Wilburys " This group came togetherto record the B side for Harrison's " This is Love " single. Harrison had left his guitar at Petty's house & Petty returned with him to Dylan's home to join the group. The group went on to record " The Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1 " at the home of Dave Stewart ( Eurythmics). Sincewe is all friends on Twitter my linky this week is " Tweeter & The Monkey Man" By the Traveling Wilburys.

@diamondbertie
Last weeks winner chosen by Tucker was George Harrison and Eric Clapton singing While My Guitar Gently Weeps, this was on of George Harrisons favourite songs another favourite of his is my choice for the link, My Sweet Lord.

@kelsoterrier
Great song last week. I was reading that George Harrison wrote the song after reading Chinese teachings about how everything is relative and therefore happens for a reason. Carrying on this theme my link for this week is Que Sera Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be) by Doris Day.

@patchdacat
Last week Tucker worked hard on his entry & was rewarded by winning da chainy wiv “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” by George Harrison & Friends at the 1987 Princes Trust concert . In this live recording Elton John introduces them & plays the piano and Princess Dianna can be seen in the audience at the end of video clapping. When she was killed in the car crash there was much weeping and Elton John re- recorded his “Candle In The Wind” with new words as a tribute to her & performed it at her funeral. So my linky this week be the Princess Dianna Tribute version of “Candle In The Wind” by Elton John on the only time he sang it live.

@smcheetham
Hi Lexie and a Happy Easter to everyone that sends in chain entires, another week has sped by. I have taken as my Inspiration the word guitar from last weeks winning entry. The Guitar is one of my very favourite things and I have many guitar heroes. One of these is Johnny Marr from The Smiths one of the best bands ever so I have chosen This Charming Man by The Smiths.

@borderpup
Anyhoo, if I have got this right, we have to do link from George Harrison 'While my Guitar Gently Weeps'. Dis was a difficult one - is such a perfect song! So we was finking about the guitar ... the guitar Eric Clapton played on da record was a Gibson Les Paul, a famuss kind of guitar. So what other famuss solos were played on a Les Paul? We have chosen 'Hotel California' by The Eagles.

@djladylexie
His guitar weeped! Why? Well because it was a fender stratocaster, THE best electric guitar played by all the greats – George Harrison, Eric Clapton and of course, the MOST awesome guitar legend – Rory Gallagher. So I gives you Rory Gallagher on his Fender Strat playin Moonchild. Man his guitar ain't weeping .. It's ROCKIN!

@claptonterrier
We saw that mr Tucker chose While My Guitar Gently Weeps by George Harrison. He played a version of that song at a Princes Trust Concert in 1987 but had Mark King from Level 42 play the bass part because Paul McCartney was not available for the concert. 42, of course, is the answer to the meaning of life from The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. The theme tune to the radio and TV series of Hitchhikers was provided by The Eagles (Journey of the Sorcerer). So this week our link is Desperado by the Eagles….

@bunnerandharvs
So den dat Tucker is a cleva paw wot seems to be on a roll wif his winin and we did like his choicy about friends wot hung out and did sing and Georgy seemed to do dis alot. So our linky dus be wif another group he did sing wif cause dey was friends and just like us paws dey, wanted to hang out, play and sing togeva. Dey was called da 'Traveling Wilburys' and da songy we going wif is Handle With Care.

@chillibrambles
Last week's winnin linky was by While my Guitar Gently Weeps by George Harrison. In 2004 George Harrison was inducted into da Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, an dis song was played by Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Steve Winwood, Prince an some others. Tom Petty and da Heartbreakers were inducted into da Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 2002, wot was also da year George Harrison died. Dis song is Learnin to Fly, wot be one of da best known songs so one of da ones dat got dem into Hall of Fame wiv GH.

@rosieterrier (wot is great linky for da songy of the week before)
Happy Eater furs (what d'ya mean I forgot the 's'?). Well done to Patchy on the win last week. This week my chainy dus link via one of me pals. The song 'Presence of The Lord' makes me think of Lord Percy the doggy. Bob Dylan sang a song for him called 'Percy's song'. Bob Dylan duetted wiv my favourite- Van Morrison on 'crazy Love'. This Easter Sunday I choose my favourite Van Morrison song 'You Don't Pull No Punches but you Don't Push the River' as my linky.

@maggietkat
Tucker won with George Harrison and Eric Clapton - While My Guitar Gentle Weeps. I thought I had died and gone to heaven! KruseKats LOVE Clapton! Anyway, Harrison and Clapton played that number at the Concert for Bangladesh. Among the headliners was Bob Dylan and According to the media, Dylan brought incredible excitement. so, here is my choice, A Hard Rain's a gonna Fall at the Concert for Bangladesh featuring Bob Dylan.

An ............. da winner dis week .... as chosen by @bvfeyj  du be ............. @kelsoterrier wiv Doris Day and Que Sera Sera! Yay!! Well done ma pal.

Ere wot Tucker said:

Okie, dokie! Me hab made choice! Me fink Linky No 3 Que Sera Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be) by Doris Day
Me did notice dat whoeber did linky 11 is a week behind, so me did hab to eliminate dat one first, but after dat it was bery difficult. Boaf da Wilbury's links was strong contenders, as was  da Eagles. Also lubbed Rory Gallagher's guitar playing! But me did hab to choose so for Doris' 89th birfday (Apr. 3) me does gib her dis present! She has been active in rescue and co founder ob "Actors and Others for Animals" so dis in her honor! Fanks to you, luffly lady!

Lexie's Chain: The Hundred and Fourteenth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to week 114 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner wos Patch aka @patchdacat wiv Presence of the Lord, Blind Faith. So lets see wot we got dis week.

@skye613
The winning link from @patchdacat ( Great Link! ) was " Presence of the Lord" from the super group Blind Faith and preformed by superstars Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood. Keeping the faith my link suggestion this week is " Jesus Christ Superstar " from the original Broadway production of the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar.

@maggietkat
The clip from @patchdacat is at the Crossroads Guitar Festival put together by Clapton himself, Crossroads being the rehab center in Antigua that Clapton started. The Crossroads 2013 festival features a number of incredible hand picked guitarists, but the one that struck me is Robbie Robertson. Robbie along with Levon Helm were known as the Hawks, then to become The Band, backing up Bob Dylan. One of the charts composed by Robbie was "The Weight" (includes bibical references, following with Prescence of the Lord). Here is one version where Robbie plays his 1961 Gibson Double Mandolin

@diamondbertie
Last weeks winner was Eric Clapton and Steven Winwood the Prescence of the Lord. My choice this time my choice is George Frederick Handel's And The Glory Of The Lord from his great oratorio Messiah. This piece of music will I'm sure lift anyone's spirits. Why keeping thought that Easter is nearly upon us, we see on our TVs the enthronement of a new Pope and and New Arch Bishop of Canterbury.

@smcheetham
Hi Lexie and another good week on the chain for last week. Last weeks winner was in the Presence of the Lord suggested by patchdacat. As often I use one word from last weeks song title to chose this weeks suggestion. I have used the word Lord this week to lead me to Hey Lord Don't Ask me Questions by Graham Parker and the Rumour who were one of my favourite bands back in the day so that's my suggestion. Good luck everyone.

@djladylexie
I keep finking presence of the lord .. And all the music makes us finkin of dancing a gift some might say, from God. So I keep finking Lord of the Dance — dance then wherever you may be, I am the lord of the dance said he. What better way to show how wonderful is the gift of the dance than Riverdance – Lord of the Dance. Michael Flatley dances it for us ere: tap tap tappity tap.

@bvfeyj
Dis was long way ‘round to get to dis linky. @patchdacat did gib us brilliant link “Presence of the Lord” by Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood. Dis was written by Clapton and performed when he was wif Blind Faith wif Steve Winwood. After Blind Faith broke up Clapton played wif some uvver bands including Delaney & Bonnie and Friends. Delaney & Bonnie had been opening act for Blind Faith and became friends wif Clapton. Me was finking about musicians who is friends and who does play together and all dat and finking me could link dat way (maybe to Delaney & Bonnie?) but den me did fink dat after all Clapton played wif just about eberybody who was anybody at one time or uvver and me did fink about da friendship ob Clapton and George Harrison... dey was not only friends and did play together, but dey was boaf married to da same woman! (though not at da same time BOL) So... long story eben longer me did choose “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” by George Harrison and Eric Clapton. Eric Clapton played guitar on da Beatles’ recording ob “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” along wif George Harrison and me link is a live performance dey did after Pattie Boyd had divorced George and married Eric though this was not long before she left Eric as well.

@rettetkaninchen
Mercedes Benz by Janis Joplin. Last weeks song was about the Lord's presence and Janis talks in her song to him. So the Lord is my linky.

And ............. da winner dis week .... as chosen by @patchdacat  du be ............. @bvfeyj (Tucker) wiv George Harrison and Eric Clapton - While My Guitar Gentle Weeps! Yay!! Well done ma pal.

Now is time to get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you Tucker!!

Lexie's Chain: The Hundred and Thirteenth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to week 113 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner wos Tucker aka @bvfeyj wiv Gimme Some Lovin' by The Spencer Davis Group. So lets see wot we got dis week.

@diamondbertie
I have thought of a link for last weeks winner chosen by Tucker who chose Spencer Davis Group from the 1960s their chart topper Gimme Some Lovin. I had to chose Abba singing Give me a Man After Midnight. Why both are songs yearning for love. So many songs offer love.

@rettetkaninchen
The SDG used a Hammond organ as a main instrument in "Gimme some loving". The organ was really popular in the 60ies and is also a leading instrument in the amazing song "A Whiter Shade of Pale" from Procol Harum. This song is inspired by a several organ pieces of Johann Sebastian Bach. So "A Whiter Shade of Pale" is my this weeks
suggestion. And hoping for a Hammond organ revival!

@skye613
OMD! My head is spinning with all the linkies this win " Gimme Some Lovin " does bring to mind. Well done Tucker. Steve Winwood did form The Spencer Davis Group along with his brother Muff and Spencer Davis in 1963. The brothers both left the group in 1967.  Steve went on to form Traffic, one of my all time fav groups, and Blind Faith with Eric Clapton. Muff Winwood became an A & R man for Island records. In 1978 Muff moved to Columbia Records. The first album Muff produced for Columbia was " Dire Straits " . Dire Straits was formed by two brothers, David & Mark Knopfler, along with John Illsley. My linky this week is " Brothers in Arms " by Dire Straits with Eric Clapton.

@djladylexie
My linky dis week be abowt love! How oome you says? Well says, me. Steve Winwood was a key member of Spencer Davis Group and also went on to be in Blind Faith. Blind Faith of course was an awesome band featurin the equally awesome Eric Clapton. Some would say you need blind faith that you will find love! Eric Clapton is known for his wonderful blues songs bout love and one of ma personal favrits dues be Old Love from Eric Clapton, which tells us how you never forget your old loves no matter how long it be.

@bvfeyj
Fanks, Maggie! Me see you did pick my linky so me is da winner and dat means me does hab to judge dis week. Since me is judging me not need to do linky for dis week, but... just in case you did not get enough ob da fabulous Hammond organ you can listen to dis- it get you toesies tapping and da Hammond- well, she sings purdy! Booker T & the MG's Time is Tight.

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie. We see that Mr Tucker won last week with a sonf by the Spencer Davis Group. We are embarrassed to say that apart from knowing that Steve Windwood was in the group we did not know much about the SDG….but we see on the internet that they are from Birmingham. We have some old connections with that City and so we are going to choose a song by our favourite group from Birmingham…ELO…and in tribe to the role the internet has played in our choice this week we have selected the song "telephone Line" !

@patchdacat
Tucker gave us “Gimme Some Lovin” by the Spencer Davis Group. The vocalist was Stevie Winwood who went on to join the super group Blind Faith. One of the tracks on their album was “Prescence of the Lord” written by Eric Clapton. In view if the religious news wiv a new Pope this week it would seem appropriate group name & track to choose this as a linky but I gives you a more recent live version to enjoy wiv Stevie & Eric playing together in 2007 at the Cross Roads Guitar Festival.

@smcheetham
Another week another chain suggestion - time flies by. Last weeks winner was the Spencer Davis Group who were famous for their use of the Hammond Organ. I have used that to link to one of my favourite bands The Charlatans who were unusual amongst Indie Guitar bands in their use of the Hammond. My choice is probably their best known song North Country Boy so that's my link this week good luck everyone.

And ............. da winner dis week .... as chosen by @bvfeyj  du be ............. @patchdacat wiv Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood an Presence Of The Lord! Yay!! Well done ma pal.

Tucker said: Me was bery surprised dat wif da Hammond organ link dat no one picked anyfing by Emerson, Lake and Palmer wif da insane Keith Emerson on da Hammond organ.

Now is time to get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you Patch!!

Lexie's Chain: The Hundred and Twelfth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to week 112 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner wos Maggie aka @maggietkat wiv Shake Your Tail Feather by Ray Charles. So lets see wot we got dis week.

@djladylexie
This song famously appeared in Blue Brothers. One half of blues brothers was John Belushi who was also in Animal House, another movie with a great soundtrack. So, I chooses a song from the movie, sung by John Belushi - Money (That's What I Want) in the movie.

@rettetkaninchen
What rhymes with "Shake a Tail Feather"? - "Hand me my leather!" So my suggestion for this week is Tori Amos with "Leather".

@diamondbertie
I have an instant spontaneous idea for this weeks chain. Last weeks' winner chosen by @maggietkat was Shake a Tail Feather sung by Ray Charles in the great film Blues Brothers. I had to choose Minnie The Moocher sung by Cab Calloway also in the that film.

@skye613
Last weeks winning link from @maggietkat was " Shake Your Tail Feather " Great link and congrats but link left me shaking ma head. Where to go ... Ah to much shaking heads & tail feathers may lead to crying. My link suggestion this week is " When Doves Cry" Kris Allen.

@bvfeyj
Me hab a quandry dis week to picky mines linky cuz me gots two excellent choices and not knows which one to submit, but me at last decides on dis one. We knows @maggietkat (yay! welcome back!) did win wif "Shake a Tail Feather" as sung by Ray Charles and the Blues Brothers in da 1980 Blues Brothers moobie. Da original "Shake a Tail Feather" was sung by The Five Du-Tones in 1963 and dey was a Chicago blues band like da Blues Brothers. Me does choose da original version ob anuvver song featured in da Blues Brothers moobie. Dis group was formed in dat same year (1963), but far away from da Chicago blues scene. One ob my ancestors (well, dat is, he is Welsh) formed dis band and dey released dis song in 1966. Dis is da Spencer Davis Group wif “Gimme Some Lovin'”. (You got to hear Steve Winwood and dat Hammond organ wail! Woof-hoo!)

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie. Last week, we saw that @maggiekat won with Shake A Tail Feather….tail feathers are what birds have to help with display abut more importantly to help with flying….I am only a dog so I can't fly but i sure would love to learn. So this week I am choosing "Learning to Fly" by Tom Petty…

@bunnersandharvs
Well dun Maggie fur da linky last week. You so cleva *wynks* Now then Mum dus think dem Blues Brothers was veree silly so we going on wid dem cause dey was always getting a crowd mooving and a groovin so our linky dis week dus beThe Blues Brothers - Everybody Needs Somebody to Love. Why cause we dus need somebody to love and you dus need to shake dat paw.

@smcheetham
Well done Maggiekat for last week. I am afraid I have been a bit rushed this week but still wanted to join in. Mine therefore is a very simple link. It uses the word Shake from last weeks winner. That takes me to Shake Rattle and Roll by Bill Hailey one of the first rock and roll hits that led to so much great music that we all love. Good luck everyone.

@rosieterrier
I just has a small chain dis week wiv only one linky. Congrats last week on 'Shake a tail feather'. I choose 'Hey Ya' by Outkast as one of the lyrics be "shake, it like a Polaroid picture... Hey Yaaaa" *dances off into the sunset-well, snow!*

@patchdacat
Last week winning linky was by Blues brothers so I choose to stay with the blue theme and choose a linky by The Moody Blues “Go Now”.

@millie_t_dog
Last week's winner" Shake a Tail Feather" sung by Ray Charles and the Blues Brothers in 1980, was a cracking song, humum is still boogieing around the house! Since then I've been applying my doggy brain to fink of my linky.

The song calls for peoples to do a variety of dances which were popular in the 1960s, the mashed potato, the bony morony and the boogaloo, but one dance caught my eye .... the frug.What the dog is that??? According to the boffins, the Frug was a dance craze from the 1960s that evolved from another dance of the era, the Chicken. In other words, it's a dance which doesn't involve much leg movement but lots of waving the arms about. Humans are truly weird!!!

Appawrently a perfect example of a Frug is found in the movie Sweet Charity, but this is a song linky chain, not a movie one. So instead I gives you "Rain on Your Parade" by Duffy as the video also features this dance.

@wonderwinger
Hurrah for Maggie giving us the superb Blues Brothers with Shake a Tail Feather. The Blues Brothers first single was the Sam & Dave 1967 song: Soul Man. This song was also covered by Lou Reed with Sam Moore for the comedy film: Soul Man.
Lou Reed was best known as the frontman for The Velvet Underground. Their first single & my linky was All Tomorrow's Parties.

@kelsoterrier
ohhh, I liked the dancy link last week and what a great video. Dancing and shaking (a tail feather) immediately brought to mind the dance craze sweeping the globe just now wot be The Harlem Shake. Some very funny videos on YouTube with people jumping about crazy doing the Harlem Shake like they're on fire & trying to put it out. So how about a very famous and talented singer from Harlem for my link? What about Alicia Keys singing Girl On Fire wot is what some of them Harlem Shakers looked like they were? Ok then, go on, that's my link.

And ............. da winner dis week .... as chosen by @maggietkat  due be ................
@bvfeyj (Tucker) wiv Gimme Some Lovin'! Yay!! Well done ma pal. It has been a while since we seen you ad a win!

Now is time to get your finkin caps on an send me (find out how on da guidelines page fing) the next link in the chain. Da winner dis week dus be pickin da winner next week and dat means you Tucker!!

You has until noon (GMT) Sunday 17 March 2013 (gots to get it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title!
