Lexie's Chain: The Fifty-Sixth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to Week 56 of #lexieschain 2012. Dis week was down to @terenceterrier to decide. So, last week da winning linky was @terenceterrier wiv Matchstalk Men & Matchstalk Cats & Dogs by Brian & Michael. Let's see wot we did get:
Water and Air by Cat Power. Why? There's the Cat, there is Water to put the fire of the matchstalks out and there is the opposite to a funny song.

from 'matchstalk men & matchstalk cats & dogs' i link to status quo's 'pictures of matchstick men', which is also about the paintings of l.s.lowry (it's also funny to see status quo before they went 'rock'!!!)

Last week @TerenceTerrier did win (YAY!) wif “Matchstalk Men & Matchstalk Cats & Dogs” by Brian & Michael,  which was a song tribute to artist L.S.Lowry. So dis week me stay wif dat and say “Vincent” by Don McLean which be about Vincent Van Gogh who also famous artist. Besides dat it bery pretty song although kinda sad.

The single Matchstalk Men & Matchstalk Cats & Dogs was recorded at Keith Hopwood's Pluto Studios in Salford. Keith Hopwood was the rhythm  guitarist in Herman's Hermits. Herman's Hermits debut single I'm Into Something Good was written by Gerry Goffin & the wonderful Carole King. My linky will therefore be Tapestry by Carole King as in this song she paints a beautiful word picture just like Brian & Michael did with their Lowry tribute.

I have my link for the chain a real toughie this time. Matchstalk Men & Matchstalk Cats and Dogs was a great song which is a wonderful tribute to Lowry.  After much head scratching it was Master who came up with, Tea for Two by Sarah Vaughan. Why? the tempo is almost a cha cha for both tunes.

Originally composed by Shostakovich as Tahiti Trot in 1928 {the year of his birth (Peter's)}  it has had so many versions just too numerous to mention.

Now we ben thanking bowt da linky woo dis week and says hey how about dem other one hit wonders Aha - Take on Me.  Dey ain't frum Manchester or nuthin like dat but we dus says, hey, wot da heck, we going wid dem cus dey was two of dem chaps in both songy wongs.

Ok, this week need to link to Matchstalk Men and Matchstalk Cats and Dogs by Brian and Michael. Well matchsalks are more commonly called matchsticks and I think these matchstick men, cats & dogs probably get accused of starting a lot of fires if they are made of matchsticks! So they probably have to say "we didn't start the fire" a lot when pleading their innocence. For this reason my link is "We didn't start the fire" by Billy Joel.  I love this video with the lyrics showing the years of the events in song.

Right matchstalk – well we dus call em matchsticks. An you start fires wiv matches – so if you start fires wiv matches you probably be a firestarter. So I dus go wiv Firestarter The Prodigy!

Ow Sweet It Is to be Loved By You by Marvin Gaye. Dis is because it was a song we do luvs wot did appear on the soundtrack to Ridley Scott film Matchstick Men. I fink dat be all the explaining we needs to do...

So ......... the winner of the 56th #lexieschain as chosen by @terenceterrier  ......... dus be ........... @bvfeyj(Tucker) wiv Vincent by Don McLean. Yay!!! Well done ma pal!
