Lexie's Chain: The Hundred and Seventeenth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to week 117 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner wos me wot be Lexie wiv Marrrakech Express by Nash & Crosby. So lets see wot we got dis week.

The great Lexie did win the chain with "Marrakesh Express" by CSN. Nash wrote the tune after taking a train from Casablanca in 1966. It was included in the first album by CSN released in 1969. A history making year 1969 saw the outdoor music festival scene explode. Woodstock and Altamont being perhaps the most famous. CSN played both venues as did the Jefferson Airplane. My link this week is "Wooden Ships" written by David Crosby, Steven Stills and Paul Kantnor performed by Jefferson Airplane at Woodstock. Trains, planes & ships.

The winning linky last week was “Marrekesh Express” by Nash & Crosby. Graham Nash had previously been in The Hollies. So I chooses The Hollies with “Just One Look”.

Me decide to go wif da train link. But den how to pick da linky? So many wonderful songs about trains or featuring trains or connected to trains somehow. Marakesh Express was written by Graham Nash about a trip he took on da train ob da same name. Well, a few years later Steve Goodman also wrote a song about a train trip he took which is also named after da train he took. Boaf songs tell ob da sights and sounds and feelings ob da trip. It became a big hit for Arlo Guthrie and his is da best known version and my faborite one. So here we hab “City of New Orleans” by Arlo Guthrie!

Nash and Crosby was last week weeks winner with Marrakech Express, I kept thinking of a suitable link Turkish Rondo by Mozart came to mind, then I figured someone else may choose that so I settled for Mustapha sung by Jose Guardiola.

@wonderwinger (Ed Lexie: fink is Humphrey Bogart ma pal but we get the picture)
The Marrakech Express is a train that travels from Casablanca to Marrakech. Casablanca was a film starring Cary Grant & Ingrid Bergman. This film is famed for amongst other things the misquoted line "Play it again Sam" Cary Grant actually says "Play it Sam" the song he's asking to be played is "As Time Goes By" as sung by Dooley Wilson.

As Time Goes By was a sitcom starring Geoffrey Palmer and Judi Dench. Crosby, Stills and Nash recorded a song called Suite: Judy Blue Eyes. This song was for Stephen Stills' girlfriend of the time: Judy Collins. Judy Collins had a hit with my linky, "Send in the Clowns". This song was also performed by Judi Dench at the composer Stephen Sondheim's 80th birthday celebration at the Royal Albert Hall.

Hi everyone well done Lexie for last week. I have gone for a train link from Marakesh Express to another train song. Showing my age by declaring that my first musical love was The Monkees and the first 45 I ever bought was by them. Using the train link my suggestion is Last Train to Clarksville by The Monkees. Good luck everyone.
