Lexie's Chain: The Hundred and Fiftieth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to week 150 of #lexieschain. Last week da winner was Clapton Terrier wiv Blinded me wiv Science by Thomas Dobly. Well done CT! Lets see what we gots dis week.

@maggietkat
Well done Clapton! here in the Colonies, "She Blinded Me with Science" was a one hit wonder for Thomas Dolby due in part to the popularity of the new fangled MTV. I got thinking about other 1 hit wonders from the 1980's and recalled a Midwestern band called Timbuk3. Their hit video and chart "The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades" has references to nuclear science, wavelength theory, a beryllium model with an eye for the nucleus, not to mention some great shades and a donkey. Enjoy! P.s. they have a great song about cats, too!

@freddie_bt
Bol, duznt av to be science to blind Dad but it elps n I wegularly confuses im . Coincidentally when we wuz investigatin Thomas Dolby he learnt dat bofe of em wuz listenin to much da same music at da same time, Unlike Dolby who wuz inspired to play Dad jus listened. Anyways dis shared enjoyment of Dave Brubeck inspired our linky dis week, not music dat fitted easily wiv da punk dat Dad mostly listened to but da suits had narrow lapels n twousers which wuz n is essential. Ere's da Paul Desmond composition Take Five written in 5/4, dont ask Dad wot it means its anuva bit of science wot blinds im. We av picked an extended version as we wanted to feature a Joe Morello drum solo n of course da luvly Alto Sax of Desmond who luks scarily like Dad's Physics teacher but way cooler.

@skye613
Last week Mr. Clapton did win with Thomas Dolby's " She Blinded Me With Science" . Dolby is member no 00001 of the current Flat Earth Society. They beleive that the earth is flat as the name states. Hmmm Weird Science! So could go with Oingo Boingo , or perhaps something from the movie by the same name. Nope ! My link - Tesla " Edison's Medicine " Take it away CT!

@terenceterrier
Clever Clapton winned again. I neva heard ov man or da song so had to look him up. Seems made an album called Astronauts & Heretics so for our linky I chooses my favrite song about an astronaut ”Space Oddity” by David Bowie.

@diamondbertie
Last weeks winner was She Blinded me with Science sung by Thomas Dolby I thought and thought about science which apart from inventing new and efficient ways of killing people has also been creating some wonderful innovations. So my choice is one of my favourites, Zager and Evans singing In The Year 2525.

@smcheetham
Morning all another week another chain. Clever Clapton won last week with a song by Thomas Dolby. one thing that TD is famous for in his prolific career is all the music he has done for a whole variety of video games. So that took me via a very simple link to Video games by Lana Del Ray so that my suggestion for this week.

@bunnersandharvs

So wher dus a paw go wid Thomas Dolby? Well, we going wid a songy Space Oddity by David Bowie but dis version be singed by Commander Chris Hatfield. Why? Cos, dat Thomas Dolby did sing a songy about Astronauts and Heretics and well he did also sing wid David Bowie in his band in a Live Aid concert and well his name also dus be Tom. We thort dis was a rilly good version too. Hit it....

@djladylexie
She blinded me wiv science, Thomas Dolby. Da song features Dr Magnus Pyke a british TV scientist known for his eccentric personality. He was one of many who appeared in the British TV show Don't Ask Me. The feme toon was by a Dutch band called Focus who had a big hit wiv song called Sylvia. So for us the linky be Sylvia so we dus choosings Dr Hook and Sylvia's Mother.

An da winner .............. as chosen by @claptonterrier .......... dus be ............ @smcheetham!  Yay brilliant linky Stella ma pal!!! So it mean you dus be choosin next week.

Ere wot CT said bowty it: Hi Miss Lexie. What a super lot of links to choose from this week. I was very tempted by link no.2 of Take Five because Grandad use to play that record all the time and we know it very well. But our choice this week is going to be link no.6 Lana Del Ray. We heard an interview recently with Mr Dolby and he was talking a lot about games and we like the song very much too. Its very original and atmospheric I think.
