Lexie's Chain: The Hundred and Tenth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to week 110 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner wos @kelsoterrier wiv Live and Let Die from Guns 'n' Roses. So lets see wot we got dis week.

@skye613
Well done @Kelsoterrier! " Live & Let Die" immediately brings to mind Mr. Bond, James Bond who celebrated a 50th anniversary in 2012. As did The Beach Boys, The Dubliners, El Gran Combo, The Chieftains & The Rolling Stones. My linky suggestion for this week is "Rocky Road To Dublin" The Chieftains & The Rolling Stones.

@rettetkaninchen
Skyfall from Adele. "Live and let die" got covered by Guns n Roses. Originally it was written and performed by Paul MaCartney and the Wings for a James Bond movie. It is one of the successful themes. Another very successful Bond theme is Adele's "Skyfall". That's my suggestion for this week.

@chillibrambles
Last week @kelsoterrier got him brain in a fuzz wiv Guns & Roses, Live an Let Die, an finkin wevver fings is good or bad. We been readin some bad newses dis week, an want a linky bowt good fings for cheerin up. Gun & Roses was from California which we fink be good cos it has lots of beaches. Every fur loves da beach. Da Beach Boys came from California too an dey got beach in der name, which be good too. Here dey sing bowt Good Vibrations so dat does be our linky for dis week.

@smcheetham
Morning Lexie the chain goes from strength to strength every week. last weeks winner was Guns and Roses. I have taken the Roses part of this as the start for my thoughts this week. So thinking about Roses I have gone to one of my favourite songs which is Good Year for the Roses by Elvis Costello which is a very sad song but with fantastic lyrics. Good luck all fellow chainees.

@diamondbertie
Here is my entry for the Chain. Last weeks winner was Guns N Roses - Live and Let Die.
This got me thinking of the James Bond movie of the same name it had Roger Moore playing James Bond, he also was the original Saint. So here is my choice for this week
Louis Armstrong singing When The Saints Go Marching In.

@djladylexie
Live and Let Die – James Bond meets Solitaire. Solitaire was the love intrest for Jimbo in the movie, played by Jane Seymour. She was also know for bein Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman wot is abowt a woman wot is a physician in da wild wild west days.

Wot you probly didn't know wos that she was in dancing with the stars reality tv show wot as famous people dancing to moosic for the entertainment of the viewers. Well, she came sixth which ain't too bad but she obviously didn't av a good rhythm wot wiv bein a doctor. Maybe she should hav got Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine to page Dr Beat for her! Hahaaaa so how about that for linky! Dr Beat, Miami Sound Machine.

@terenceterrier
The winning linky woz “Live and Let Die” by Guns and Roses. Dis songy woz the title track from the James Bond film of the same name. In this film Roger Moore woz 007. Roger Moore woz also the voice of a cat called Lazenby in da film “Cats and Dogs:The Revenge of Kitty Galore” which parodies many of the James Bond films & characters. The first song on the film soundtrack is “Get the Party Started” by Dame Shirley Bassey which I choose as my linky this week. Big Shirl also sang the title song from the Bond movie “ Goldfinger” so she links to da Bond theme of last week’s linky.

@patchdacat
I pride meself on being an observant anipal & I could not help noticing that several members of Gun N Roses seemed to be missing various items of their clothing in this video. Missing kecks no less at the start *puts paws over eyes* Not a pretty sight. I can only assume they were hoping to get talent spotted for the new stage version of “The Full Monty”. I therefore chooses the song “You Can Keep Your Hat On” by Tom Jones as my linky this week as the song comes from that show.

@bvfeyj
Me fink we hab enough ob dese guns n deaf n stuff fur now. All dis killing me softly wif guns n roses living & letting die and all da confusion an stuff. Enough ob dat! Well, Guns N’ Roses was inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, but annuver band was inducted dat same year and dey most famuss song gib us da roses wifout da guns! Dis be da Small Faces wif Itchycoo Park.

@millie_t_dog
Last week's winner was Kelso with Live & Let Die by Guns n' Roses. For my linky this week I give you I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston. So how do we all get there I hear you cry?

Well, as we all know this was a cover of the Paul McCartney and Wings song which written for the James Bond film of the same name. The B-side of that 1973 single was a song called I Live Around, featuring the vocals not of Paul McCartney but Denny Laine.

Some years earlier, Denny Laine was an original member of The Moody Blues and was similarly lead vocalist on their first hit Go Now. This song reached number 1 in the UK charts in January 1965 and was itself a cover of a song written by Larry Banks (and others) and sung by his ex-wife Bessie Banks. The backing singers on the Banks' version included one Cissy Houston, the mother of Whitney Houston. Before going the way of so many others through drink and drugs, Whitney had a fantastic voice and whilst her acting skills were a bit more ropey she did star in the film The Bodyguard and was responsible for most of the soundtrack, including the song I Have Nothing

So there we have it via films and cover versions from Live & Let Die to I Have Nothing.

As a final factoid, both songs were nominated but did not win Grammy Awards - Best Hard Rock Performance for Live & Let Die in 1993 and Best Song Written Specifically for a Motion Picture or for Television for I Have Nothing in 1994.

@rosieterrier
Well done Kelso on last week's winning linky. My choice this week continues the rock theme with Michael Jacksons' 'Give In To Me'. Slash the guitarist from Guns n' Roses did feature on this......and.... His real name is Saul. Saul Bass was the graphic designer who designed many of the James Bond posters and title sequences. Also Saul is my mum's favourite boys name although what that has to do with the chainy, I don't know!

@bunnersandharvs
So well dun to dat Kelso fur winning da linky Live and Let Die by dem Guns & Roses. He is a cleva paw and his seleckshun gots dese paws thinking. So dis wot we came up wif.... We know dat Paul McCartney did write da song Live & Let Die so we said hrmm, wot else did he write and who else did he write songs fur and wid, and guess wot? He wrote songs wif Elvis Costello. And der is an album called 'All This Useless Beauty'. Now furst of all, Paul McCartney did write sum songys on dat album but we also thort we would say how can beauty eva be useless much like how can you kill softly or how culd you eve put a gun wid rose sooooo we is going with da songy by Elvis Costello - All This Useless Beauty. Hit it Elvis.....

@wonderwinger
The handsome Kelso gained an excellent win last week with Guns n Roses. I shall be sticking with the rose theme and selecting The Stone Roses. My song choice shall be Waterfall as the original lead guitarist for Guns n Roses was called Slash & waterfalls come from slashes in mountains. And finally both bands were signed to Geffen Records.
Waterfall.
