Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Thirty Eighth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 338 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was Skye wiv I Shot Da Sherriff from Bob Marley . Let's see wot we gots this week:

@maggietkat
Well done Skye with I shot the sheriff. I got thinking about other Jamaican music. I remembered the ska band Maytal and their great tunes which have been covered by bands. So, I choose the Clash with Lee Perry doing Pressure Drop.

@claptonterrier
last week Miss Skye was our winner with I Shot the Sheriff….a song in which the law comes out on the wrong side of the argument…so this week we thought we would redress the balance and our linky this week is I Fought The Law by The Clash….

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Skye did win wiv Bob Marley and I Shot the Sheriff. We were thinking of other famous Bobs and came up with Bob the Builder. His famous song was Can We Fix It and then we thought of another Fix It song by Coldplay so here it is.

@terenceterrier
Sooo da linky to follow on from be "I Shot The Sheriff " by Bob Marley. Righty Ho I fink dat when dis man go home he would tell his Mum n say "Mama I shot a man, put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger now he's dead" Yoo can see wot's coming as my linky can't yoo !  Yup ! "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen n I give yoo da live vershun from Wembley Stadium 12 July 1986.

@sonikebt
Well done @syke613 for winning with "I shot the Sheriff" by Bob Marley. Eric Clapton covered the song in 1974 which was the only No 1 single of his career. I was surprised that Mr Clapton didn't have more No 1 hits, so we have chosen one of his songs that probably should have hit the top of the charts. "Layla" by Derek and the Dominos.

@djladylexie
Easy one from me dis week ... linkin the word Sheriff and bringin you some country from Kenny Price - The Sheriff of Boone County.

An da winner as chosen by ............... Skye ...................... dus be Terence .............................. Yay! You choosin next week me pal.

Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Thirty First Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 331 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was Skye wiph Downtown from B52s. Lets see what we gots this week:

@maggietkat
Well done with "Downtown".  The lyrics say to listen to a bossa nova and soon you will be dancing. Here is a classic bossa nova by Sergio Mendez and Brazil 66, "Mas Que Nada".

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Skye won wiv B52s covering Downtown. We liked the B52 collaboration with R.E.M. Shiny Happy People. But we pick R.E.M. s great Everybody Hurts ... take comfort in your friends

@diamondbertie
I remember Petula Clarke's version at that time, the song referred to towns, bright lights and people.  Going on my time machine I found San Francisco by Scott McKenzie, I visited this magical city many times and this song takes me back

@sonikebt
Downtown by B52s was a great winning link from @syke613 . We have gone uptown this week with our link, also with a cover version. Our link is "Uptown funk" by ..... the Minions

@terenceterrier
Larst week da linky woz "Downtown " by the B 52s. Their name be taken from an aircraft wot be a big bomber. So I look for annuva group wiv a name connected to aviation n choose Jefferson Airplane. For my linky I choose "Someone To Love" and use da live vershun from Woodstock 1969.

@daisy_dor
Congrats to Skye wiv da win last week wiv da B52s version of Downtown. The B52s did also cover Paperback Writer by The Beatles for a car commercial, but to be honest we does prefer da original so we move back from covers to original this week...

@djladylexie
Down town or from Petula Clark. Lovely song that. My linky is Bananas. What!? Petula Clark featured on the compilaton album Nostalgia Goes Bananas. Petula Clark and Harry Belafonte sang a song together called On The Path Of Glory where, ridiculously, a visiting executive from Chrysler objected to their "interracial touching" whereupon they ensured all other takes of the song were destroyed to assure that the touch woud be included! Now that really is bananas! But me linky doesn't stop there coz I am sure you know of the great Harry Belafonte hit song Banana Boat Song. So there we go - Bananas!

An da winner as chosen by ............... Skye ...................... dus be .............................. Sir Tel! Yay! You choosin next week me pal.

Ere wot Skye said:  Great links all! In this time that we are living in, I believe that Love is the only thing that is going to save us. Links #3, 5 and 6 all had ma paws tapping. This week we all need somebody to love. Winner is #5. And with a nod to Tucker, it's live!

So now is over to you. Email me: lex[dot]dogstovesky @ gmail.com or DM me on Monday 12th June 2017 (gets it to me by 10am UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Thirtieth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 330 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was Maggie wiph Smokey and Tears of a Clown. Lets see what we gots this week:

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie….last week our winner was Tears of a Clown…..we do not like to think of sad clowns….that is not what clowns are for…so this week we have selected a more upbeat song about a Clown…..it is Clown Strike by Elvis Costello…..

@skye613
Congrats to Maggie! So this tune got me thinking about other songs that have been covered in a different genre. Couldn't resist this one. The wonderful " Downtown " from Petula Clark in 1970's disco style by the great B-52's. Enjoy!

@terenceterrier
Wowser Maggie duss be on a roll ! Her winning linky be Smokey Robinson n "Bring In The Clowns" . There be lotsa famuss clowns. My favrit be Pierrot. So my linky be "Pierrot The Clown" by Placebo. I goin wiv a live vershun from M6 Private Concert in 2006.

@cloonfourmegan
Last week Maggie won wiv Tears of a Clown. We are a bit scared of clowns and this made us fink of an even more scary scene in Reservoir Dogs wiv lyrics 'clowns to the left of me' so we chooses Stuck in the Middle With You by Stealers Wheel.

@diamondbertie
Well done @maggitkat, your winning choice by The English Beat  - Tears of the Clown immediately got me thinking of On With The Motley from Pagliacci but I knew it wouldn't win. Much head scratching later I've come up with You Are So Vain by Carly Simon.

@djladylexie
Clowns ... always making people laugh but sad inside. No matter wot them feels, they know, the show must go on. Leo Sayer, The Show Must Go On.

An da winner as chosen by ............... Maggie ...................... dus be .............................. Skye! Yay! You choosin next week me pal.

Ere wot Maggie said:  Well done everyone! My choice is the B52s.version of Downtown.  Why? I think I will have fun getting the next link!

Lexie's Chain: The Three Hundred and Twenty Fourth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 324 of Lexie's Chain. Last week the winner was Skye wiv Tiger Mount Peasant Song from Fleet Foxes. Let see what we gots this week:

@maggietkat
Well done, Lexie! I am taking off on your folk song link and go to bluegrass. There have been many versions, including Bob Dylan and Ginger Baker, of this folk tune but you may recognize mine from the movie, O Brother Where Art Though.?  My link is , Man of Constant Sorrow.

@diamondbertieSkye Waulking song by Capercaillie was last week's winner my choice is keeping to tradition and folk songs. Bob Saget singing An Old English Folk Song.

@claptonterrier
Hello Miss Lexie….last week your winner carried on the Scottish theme with another song about Skye….it seems to me that the biggest  thing on the mind of our Scottish pals at the moment is their own independence …so this week our linky is a song about independence….Independence Day by Bruce Springsteen….

@terenceterrier
Larst week da svelte Lexie winned wiv "Sky Waulking song" by Capercaillie who be a Scottish folk band wot sing traditional Gaelic songs n fings. So for my linky to even fings up I looks for a traditional English folk ballad n chooses "Scarborough Fair" cos for sake of linkiness it has links to old Scottish ballad "The Elfin Knight". I gives yoo da Simon n Garfunkel long vershun wiv lyrics to enjoy.

@cloonfourmegan
Oooh I scratched my head to fink of Linky to your winning entry last week of Skye Waulking Song. In the end I chooses another Scottish song about wa(u)lking but not the beating tweed variety but the one you does wiv your legs.

@sonikebt
Congrats @Dogstoyevsky for winning the link with the "Skye Waulking Song" by Capercaillie sung by Karen Matheson, who lives in the same town as us.  We have chosen a song which was inspired by a local, unusual rock formation called Auld Wives Lift by a band which shares our town's name. Our link is "Auld Wives" by Bear's den.

An da winner as chosen by ............... dad ...................... dus be .............................. Sonic!! Yay well done me pal.

Ere wot dad said: Auld Wives interesting link. This is my choice.

So now is over to you. Email me: lex[dot]dogstovesky @ gmail.com or DM me on Monday 24th April 2017 (gets it to me by 10am UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Eighty Sixth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 286 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Sonic wiv Walkin Wounded from Everfink But The Girl.  **Please note mum an dad be in Beefa til Tuesday so Chainy will be late. Fanx you**. Let's see what we gots this week:

@wotterface
Last week the winning song was Everything But The Girl with Walking Wounded. It's not nice to be wounded so I'd like everybody to be fixed, that's why my pick this week I'd Coldplay with Fix You.

@cloonfourmegan
Well done Sonic for winning with Everything But the Girl last week. If there be everything but a girl Lets Here it for the Boy!

@terenceterrier
Larst week pals Sonic n Spike winned wiv “Walking Wounded” by Everything But The Girl. Well I fink if da girl gots left owt larst time then I better put her in dis week. So my linky be “Girl” by The Beatles.

@skye613
Well done Sonic. So me brain went on a journey with this one. Was trying to " Make " tunes work. Not good results until I remembered alliteration. Yes! "Walking Wounded" and " Helplessly Hoping " And I know that all of us are hoping for peace in this crazy world of ours.

@maggietkat
Well done Sonic! G-ma always said, "if you can walk you can dance." So, we are going to walk right into our "Dancing Shoes" by the Faith Band.

@djladylexie
My link dus be Leonard Cohen's The Old Revolution. What? Why? Well, let me tell you. One half of EBTG duo dus be Ben Watt. In 2003 Ben Watt launched his own independent record label called Buzzin' Fly named after a song by Tim Buckley. Tim Buckley was the father of  the wonderful Jeff Buckley. Jeff Buckley covered Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah (said to be better than the original wot I agrees wiv). Leonard Cohen's The Old Revolution was used in the TV show The Walking Dead.

An da winner as chosened by Sonic dus be .................................  @terenceterrier wiv Girl by The Beatles. Well done El Tel .... dussnt forget mum n dad away til toosdee.

Ere wot Sonic said: Thanks pal. We have deliberated and gone with linky 3 - Girl by the Beatles because it was a very clever link. Linky 4 was a very close second coz we loves literation.

So now is over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! Lexie's Chain: The Two Hundred and Thirty Fourth Chain

Hello pals. Welcome to week 234 of #lexieschain. Last week the winner was Wyn (@wotterface) wiv Run Boy Run from Woodkid. Let's see wot we got dis time:

@diamondbertie
Last week @wotterface won with Run Boy Run by wood kid I really struggled with this one but have to give it a go, I'm using running as the link, my choice is the theme music from the film Chariots of Fire.

@terenceterrier
larst week da winnin linky woz Run Boy Run by Woodkid . Weird. Really weird.  Anyhows I had to vestigate . Seems dis Woodkid chappie became moozishun cos he woz given ukulele by Ritchie Havens. RH became faymuss afta doing opening stint at 1969 Woodstock festival ( see dat ties da wood bit in nicely). So I takes a lookysee at weva any of our favrit bands were there. Yep ! The Who. So I gives yoo dem perform My Generation  at dat very furst Woodstock.

@skye613
This is only the second time I have heard Woodkid. And I like him very much. In the vid for my link Drake - Take Care - you can see the early influence he developed in the vid for " Run Boy Run" . This video was done in 2012. The themes of darkness, animals and hope abound in his direction of these videos.

@bunnersandharvs
Well dis week's linky is Run Boy Run wot Wotterface did win last week. We did think that wos a good songy and it did make us think that when you runs you gets stronger so we going simples dis week wid Kelly Clarkson's 'Stonger' cos not only dus  it be a supa songy when you running it a makes you feel good too.

@djladylexie
Me really like Woodkid fanx for introducin me to im. I has absolutely no reason to this but for some reason it reminds me of Bronski Beat an Smalltown Boy. Running away .. you can never really run away from your life, it goes wiv you wherever you go.

@sonikebt
Loved @wotterface song Run Boy Run by Woodkid last week.  Well if the boy did run he would be a "Real Gone Kid" Deacon Blue. Woohoowoohoo.

@maggietkat
Well done with Run by Snow Patrol. I figured that if you run, you can roam where you want to. By the B52's.

So the winner, as chosen by Wyn ..................................................... dus be ................................Skye! (@skye613). Yay well done me pal. You choosin next week Skye!

Ere wot Wyn said: This week I decided I'd pick a song I'd never heard before but then all the links were songs I'd heard already! What are the chances?! So instead I've chosen the song I was least likely to choose but surprised myself, especially as I didn't know Woodkid directed the video and it makes me listen to the song completely differently watching the video. This week's winner is link 3!

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 26th July 2015 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. Lexie´s Chain: The Hundred and Eighty Eighth Chain

Hello pals! Welcome to week 188 of #lexieschain. Oh, an remember mum dus be in Ibeefa rightnow so service may be slightly erratic ;). So last time was @wonderwinger wiv Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel. So let's see wots we gots dis week:

@claptonterrier
last week Lady Briar won with a song by Peter Gabriel…..we know that Mr Gabriel was once in a band called Genesis…..Genesis is the first book in The Bible…and the first words that God spoke in the Bible were “let there be light”…and so our link this week is “Ray of Light” by Madonna….*dancing paws*

@freddie_bt
We likes Peter Gabriel, da creative member of Genesis; a solo star; campaigner fer human rights; founder of WOMAD n dis year marks da 25th anniversary of his Real World Records. A commemorative box set of CDs is to be released n one of da songs is Kipenda Roho fwom da LP "Songs for the Poor Man" by Remmy Ongala & Orchestre Super Matimila. Dad bawt dis in 89 n luvs it still, it is a gawjuss Tanzanian take on Congolese Soukous, fast Rumba based dance music full of effortlessly complex percussion topped by guitars dat jus sing da sweetest sound. Dr Remmy wuz luvd in Tanzania fer his music, his compassion n belief in human rights fer all, his funeral in 2010 wuz a national event. Our linky is dat song Kipenda Roho, its openin lines are: "What the heart loves the body follows, love has no sense of colour, love has no sense of race"

@maggietkat
Well done with Sledgehammer! The number featured The Memphis Horns who are the Stax records house band. The basis for that sound can be heard in a recording by Booker T. And the MGs. I have so many Booker T songs, but I had yo pick one, Groovin'.

@terenceterrier
Da winning linky larst week be Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel chosen by da supamodel Briar.
If da pawleece haz a sledgehammer dey will probs be knockin down doors wiv it to get in to houses wiv norty peeps inside. But cos Gabriel woz an angel we fink he would be knockin on a door to heaven. So my chosen linky be Knocking on Heavens Door by Bob Dylan. Dis vershun haz Mark Kopfler playing on it.

@wotterface
So, last weeks winner was Peter Gabriel with his amazing video for Sledgehammer. Peter Gabriel once did a song with The wonderful Kate Bush where they just cuddled for ages. Kate Bush did an ace song about us lot called Hounds of Love. A bunch of Northern lads called The Futureheads covered Hounds of Love in their own style and did a video with lots of dogs! So here's our chain the is week. The Futureheads and Hounds of Love...

@djladylexie
Okies. Peter Gabriel sang duet wiv Kate Bush called Dont Give Up. A certain person loves Kate Bush and has been to see her live in concert this week. So what else but honouring the awesomeness of kate wiv one of our favourites: Cloudbusting.

So da winner as decided by @wonderwinger is  .... @claptonterrier wiv Madonna and Ray of Light  .... Yay! Well done ma pal. You dus be choosin next week.

Ere wot Briar said bowty it: Although I likes the Gabriel Angel linky number 4, my selection is the biblical linky number 1. Take it away, Madge..  *twirls and does the "Shimmy Shoulders".

So it's over to you. Email me: lexie at toxicpenguin dot com or DM me on twitter (@dogstoyevsky) wiv your link suggestion followin on from dis one! You has until 14th September 2014 (gets it to me by 2pm UK time if poss). Oh sometimes I dus accidentally delete em! Heehee. So good idea to type DO NOT DELETE in the title and dussnt forget to send a linky to da video from You Tube!
